If BLU is to remain limited....

Like all the twitter articles with Yoshi P have suggested, then PLEASE make it as OP as you think it is.

Let all bosses be hit by all our spells. And greater acc on those spells as well. We went through the trouble of learning them they shouldn't be such a pain to use since they miss 99% of the time.

No diminishing returns on debuffs. These are core combos to some spells that just can't work because the boss is immune to deep freeze or petrify. Paralyze hardly ever works and eventually doesn't last long at all anyway.

More defense. BLU is supposed to be a "solo" job or at least somewhat of a solo job, yet every time I was in a pure BLU party trying to learn the primal spells the BLU tank was almost getting two or three shot with Mighty Guard on. This was on Hard mode btw.

Stop with the same spell just different AoE patters. I get that the different elements are supposed to used in the Masked Carnival but give the spells some kind of combos or secondary uses. Give me a reason to use Plaincracker over Ram's Voice, Flamethrower over... anything since I never use it.

And Give the weapon some stats.... You are making those Aetheryte earrings able to level with you I see no reason you couldn't do this for all the BLU weapons since they are so few and just for glamour right now.

I think Blue Mage will be uncapped in Shadowbringers, there's no point in holding back a cool job because it would have been a waste of resources creating it!...

I don't think it will be uncapped in Shadowbringers. They have already said they don't want it in currant raids because of LVL 5 Death... not that it would work on them anyway seeing as our current "broken" spells don't work on them.

They won't uncap it mostly because trying to balance every fight around a BLU's 120+ spells would be a pain. Also, it was designed for solo content of Carnival in mind, not soloing primals. The only thing that made people think BLU could solo primals was the trailer that showed BLU soloing Shiva and learning Glass Dance, but this was a showcase. They also showed off SB BLM spells with BLM soloing Susano and they later showed BLM soloing Chaos. They're trailers/showcases not to be taken literally.

When all 120 of those spells do 130 potency damage or apply status effects that the boss is immune to I think it would be balanced enough.

Honestly I was surprised at how weak BLU ended up being, especially since they balanced the insta-death spells pretty well by making them virtually unusable in certain situations. At this point it's less a matter of being overpowered, because as anyone can attest who has leveled or run content with a BLU that at level they're pretty weak compared to other classes, and more that they have 0 skill synergy. Making a rotation for them according to the friends I helped run through content to get their skills was a headache in and of itself.

I do agree that if they have no opportunity for their skills to mesh well, their base potencies should be increased.

It did not get implemented in a fashion that I personally thought it would, and that was disappointing to say teh least. Its a missed opportunity on the Devs part.

It shouldve been implemented as follows:

• Bosses should resist certain skills (Such as insta-death skills) if they are near the same level as the player. If youre max level and the boss is lvl 15, the skill shouldnt be resisted. But if your max, and the boss is on your level, it should be resisted. Certain status effects that are special to BLU (like a version of paralysis or slow that is special to BLU skills) could be implemented so that you can use status effects on bosses to overcome their mechanics.
• The class should have a wide variety of skills that is focused around soloing content in 4 mans, and running small groups in 8 mans. The formula could be as follows: 4 Man (Solo) 8 Man (4 Man Group), 24 Man (8 Man Group) with dungeons and raids redesigned to account for this different set up.
• It should be designed around a system where the skills are extremely powerful, but since you are soloing (or in a limited group), progress is dependent on using your skills to overcome situations that would normally take 4-8 people.


With this set up, the class would be OP as hell in regular situations, but when soloing a dungeon at proper level, youre gonna die unless you manage your skills to take care of trash monsters and bosses. I think that wouldve been a good direction. Unfortunately, it seems like they went the opposite way - made it UP as hell and novel only in monster skills and nothing more.

Blue Mage has a passive that increases stat gains from gear in order to offset for that. The goal was effectively so players wouldn't have to worry about stats and devs wouldn't have to worry about designing more weapons for it than necessary.

Actually, they've already stated that they have plans for BLU up to level 60 and I think intending on raising the cap every other patch, meaning that they'd (at least theoretically) be caught up with all other jobs by patch 5.5 at level 80.

Overall, I'm still convinced that Blue Mage is a jobs didn't want to make, but were forced to.

Jobs should not be restricted to content. At that point its no better than players not inviting someone because they arent considered "meta", instead its SE saying you cant do said content because your scope is "limited".

I honestly agree On making blu broken. Thier idea of being limited contradicts itself completely due mainly to the fact that you have to GROUP UP with OTHER PLAYERS to learn primals skills for the SOLOOOOLOLOLOLOLOL job. Makes no sense at all for them to be squish af AND be expected to do anything solo in terms of gathering primal skills because let's be real trying to farm for them now with the content itself being dead, it'll be nigh impossible to solo farm those skills.

BLU will continue to be how it is because Yoshi believes it is a success. It's not a question of if it will continue to be limited. It will never catch up.

Unless Yoshi has changed his mind recently, BLU is not planned on joining the level 80 cap with the other non-limited jobs. They may allow it to get to 70 though.

In all honesty, I am not quite sure they can keep this job limited. It is going to demand continuous content which I feel no amount of will stop players from wanting this job inside normal duties. Players who have loved BLU for many, many years deserve to have this just as much as those of us waiting in high anticipation for jobs like GUN and DNC. They're going to have to figure it out at some point, or else there is a really good chance that BLU content will die.

A limited job would work for something where being limited would be a step up, not a step down. As an example, if Beastmaster was introduced as a new gathering class, but also a limited job; that would probably work out more than BLU. It would mean it primarily focuses on gathering, but has a limited skillset that typically belongs to combat jobs. This might entice players to give gathering a go who normally wouldn't touch a gatherer because of the combat element added to it.

Which is why I suggested the weapons stats just leveling with you. Then they can make all the weapons lvl 1 or w/e the ilvl cap is for Blue mage at the time, and just give all the weapons the same stats cause they all level with you. They still wouldn't need to make more than a few Canes. Speaking of which, why don't we have Primal Canes of the lvl 50 fights? You have to do them for their spells anyway.

Haha, imagine if Beast Master just meant you were a master at killing beasts and had extra damage against beasts based on your level or certain weapon skills did more damage to one type of beast. No pets or anything just a master of killing regular overworld monsters lol.

That's kind of like BLU now, no? haha!

But I have a field park of ideas for what this game could do with Beastmaster as a limited job. This is not the place for it though. I should toss it up in my blog. :)

I don't think they will, I think they're going to keep it out of current end game content. I'm sure its level cap will be raised in SHB but I very much doubt it will hit level 80 until 6.0 or later. They'll want to keep it out of the end game because if they let it into the end game they would have to balance it, and balancing blue mage would defeat the purpose of the limited job idea in the first place. It really can't live in both worlds.

I could perhaps see limited jobs making it to level cap eventually, I feel BLU started so far down with it's cap as it's a new idea and they wanted to control it as much a possible, I could also see subsequent Limited jobs starting with a higher cap, perhaps even eventually having them be able to just reach it on launch. Though I agree they'll likely never be allowed into current duty finder content as like you said that defeats the point, but I feel they could still let them get to level cap and just exclude them from entry.
Time will tell.

I got my 50 spells and haven't touched BLU since. I liked BLU, I just don't really care for Carnival and it really doesn't have any use anywhere else for anything.

I didn't even see BLUs running around BEFORE Hydatos, everyone moved on before new content was even added. BLU is pretty much just spell collecting and never touching it again.

I'd have rather they added Beastmaster instead, raising monsters or something sounds more fun.

I still play around with BLU from time to time, but I still haven't even almost got it to level cap. The fact that I'll probably never be able to get a lot of the spells because I don't have any level 70's I can beg, and because I won't be able to find any preformed parties by the time I'm up to that stage, kinda nerfs any incentive I feel to level a job that I otherwise think is pretty cool. I don't mind, at all, it being locked out of DF (though I think it being locked out of squadrons and endless dungeons is baffling), but that being the case, I would need the job to be completely soloable if it was going to have any use to me given my time/networking constraints in the game. Unfortunately, the devs haven't given any indication that they're reconsidering the way this class is implemented, so I imagine that it will just become less and less relevant to both the solo and Duty Finder crowds.

BLU feeling weaker than other classes capped at 50 is a letdown for me. For a job with 40+ spells you'd think there would be plenty of combos that work together. Most of the time it's just glower spam because half the moves either are resisted or have a extremely low chance of working. In it's current state it's just not fun at all.

The number 1 thing they can do to keep BLU alive is to let it queue in DF. All it has to do is match all BLUs instead of the usual formation.

Matching BLU in the pool with the other jobs wouldnt hurt anyone either, the absolute worst it can do is speed up your 15 min dungeon to 10 mins. The horror, my 50 roulletes will be quicker

As long as you can still have Tanks and Healers in that queue... Spamming White Wind to keep the Blu Tank alive when they get hit like paper even with Mighty Guard is not friendly to your mp pull. In trials anyway... Dungeons aren't "too" bad... Tho to get a lot of the spells I didn't have to go to the end of the dungeon so... Might be harder to do than I'm aware of.

they will built off of it. they are not just gonna abandon it. itll get better as time goes on. this is a new type of content and we need building blocks. give them time to get feedback and play around with new ideas. l love where blu is going. i love this new bold time. tired of raiding, 4 man, repeat boooo

I'm tired of those things too—in fact, I never liked them very much to begin with—but BLU doesn't work for me as an alternative. I can't get the spells without grouping/begging, and can't get them at all now that those groups have gone away. I can't take it into squadrons or soloable content like the deep dungeons, and I can't complete the carnivale without getting some of the spells locked away behind content I can't clear for the aforementioned reasons. IF they were taking feedback like this on board, that would be one thing, but the opposite seems true, and they are instead proclaiming how happy they are with how BLU has turned out. I don't see any reason to be excited about BLU's future direction, and nor do the vast majority of people who have already abandoned it.

The only thing they are going to "build" onto it is more levels and more spells. So every time they raise the lvl cap once that few days of leveling / spell gathering have gone by you get another repeat of what we have now which is a dead job. Instead if it was a Real Job you could continually play it in roulettes or other things via the DF and take it into raids and such. How is this going to get better as time goes on? How is this a new type of content? You kill monsters, level, but then can't do anything with it except the Masked Carnival, which is bacially a glorified Guild Hest system, or do your own challenge stuff like 24 man BLU which there is no reword for other than your own satisfaction at being able to do it, and even that is mostly a one and done thing. BLU isn't "going" anywhere except back to being dead after every update, unless they unlock it or make it extremely over powered.

The thing I don't understand is wanting a class to solo old things on or do in small groups. Like isn't that what unsync at a higher cap is for? Would much rather get BLU as a full job, because the idea of fighting with monster abilities is great and BLU deserves more than this.

Yeah BLU is really fun to play I'd main it gladly.
