Remove the positional ring from Suzaku for her final phase

Once again it feels as if the dev team has entirely forgotten there is a job in the game that has positionals on every single GCD.

It is physically impossible to land every positional during the orbs phase, especially in PF groups. Most tanks in PF will just run a full circle around the ring. So, if you're lucky enough that the pattern is in your favor you can find a way to hit some positionals, but you're never going to get all, or even most of them.

True North is only up every 2 and a half minutes and doesn't even last long enough for most of that phase to get decent use out of it.

The gimmick simply is not fun and most of the time I give up and don't even try to get positionals. At least in Byakko and Tsukiyomi, you actually COULD get positionals if you played really tightly for the whole fight. In Suzaku it's actually impossible without eating an AOE.

That might be why they made the DPS check so lenient in the fight then.

i mean a lot of fights hate one job or another. so just focusing one class wont really do much, from what i heard theres one phase that casters cant do anything unless they have instants and all they can do is run. and i feel bad for any blm in byakko.

As a tank it lets me keep her facing one direction.
If you can do the same on the back/flank, you'll have your potencies.

That only affects whether certain compositions *can* clear, not whether they're preferred or declined.

When you disproportionately affect the performance of x jobs... that's significant, regardless of the severity of the content.

I don't think Suzaku Ex is incredibly melee-disfavoring, or even Monk-disfavoring, but that design excuse is largely... irrelevant.

OP is talking about Suzaku, not Susano EX. In which case, they're right. It's very monk-disfavoring, but to be fair that fight destroys a lot of classes (especially MCH)... and no one can do their proper opener until second phase lol

the slap in the face to openers in this fight really rubs me the wrong way. it REALLY feels like a slap in the face from devs to just to cut off openers like that. With how opener-centric DPS is in this game, it really unmotivates me to try until 2nd phase.

I'd rather they removed positionals period.

You still would have mechanics to avoid. And as is most jobs now only move once or twice a rotation. Removing positionals would just makes fights where you are stuck on the wrong side of the boss often less annoying.

Landing positionals and dodging mechanics can be a thing. Once you learn a fight well enough it all becomes muscle memory. If I wanted to face roll I’d roll as a mage or ranged.

I've learned to hold off my Samurai opener until after the divebomb. Then I can usually get one in before the phoenix down phase. Thankfully, Sam has a short opener compared to some (I hear smn is like 2 minutes long).

This comment suggests you never played a black mage as face rolling usually ends with no enochian and a dead rotation. Melee, especially samurai are much more face rolling classes as positionals are very easy to land and you aren't burdened by movement.

As for the thread, no. Simply no. As a mage i guess I should demand boss fights stop requiring me to move cause its unfair for my dps to suffer while melee players dps on the move just fine. Work around it instead of asking for nerfs. I'm stilll working on my clear but I have had no issue running my rotation during intense parts.

Eh, monk needs an overhaul in general. They just took the class as it was from HW, stripped a couple of DOTS, and added some bad moves that didn't mesh well. Now that battles have more movement and often a lot more downtime, it struggles to be played despite still being potent. Needs more of an identity.

SE just seems to hate mnks. I don't mind doing positionals, but bosses seem to have gotten more and more annoying in that respect. From random turning, to mechanics where you can't hit them. Didn't have positional in o5s or o6s and honestly, I didn't really miss them much.

Have you tried tanks? WAR is probably the best candidate for a melee dps with no positional's. High burst and great self sustain. I've been in my fair share of fights where the party wiped and its just me, or me with another tank and we finish the fight.

I actually do have all dps mage jobs at 70, I just don’t prefer them. Once you understand how a boss works you can plop down and do your rotation. What it really boils down to is knowing your job and utilize it to your advantage.
