Always hate seeing Emotes in the Mogshop... So many chances for sidequests that reward them instead gone to $$$
I haven’t bought any cosmetic items in this game yet, not sure if I ever will but that horse is badass!
Red Hare? As in this Red Hare? Lu Bu's infamous steed in Romance of the Three Kingdoms and by extension, Koei-Tecmo's Dynasty Warriors games (as SE is collaborating with KT with Dissida NT I'm wondering if this is a deliberate crossover? (Okay, it probably is not, but I like to think it is). :p
As cool as that mount looks and as much as I love emotes, I wish they were new side quest rewards. I feel like that would be more fulfilling content than just paying money to get items.
As long as people are bad with extra money, the emotes will always cost a lot.
Knowing that, the mount does make more sense. I didn't know it was a promotional event. I just thought it was a really nice looking horse. :)
The Virgin Heavensward:
Make a cool, interesting and touching side quest chain reflecting on the story and characters of the expansion, revisiting everything we've gone through and rewarding you with an emote reminiscent of a beloved NPC's signature gesture.
The Chad Stormblood:
Just throw it on the cash shop for $7 lol
Wasn't that emote in the SB benchmark?
It's been in the game's files all this time only to be released on Mogstation.
Is it just me or is that emote just recycled elements from the power ranger emotes and the monk battlestance emote?
I feel like that emote could have been a drop from maybe a Temple of the Fist hard mode, or maybe just a reward given as part of the unlock quest.
just want to point out to those people who are like "i cant believe they did this ever since stormblood they been so scummy with mogstaion"
The Huzzah emote was just the limit break animations for the rest of your party and that was release in HW
i agree this should have been a quest reward but they have always been like this with emotes
Yeah seems like in SB they decided to do the opposite, so the cool new emotes go to the mogstation while the emotes you can get in game are just cutscene animations that have been in the game since 2.0, or even better they take the face you make during another emote, remove the body animation and then just call it a new "expression" emote.
I am just sad that a emote for this price does not loop...I mean they could have at least done that..x_x
15$ sub monthly wich lands at 180$ a year if you pay every month and you would think se would not be as greedy. I played since March 2014 and seeing so much increase in the mog station as of late has gotten sickening. This is looking like a free to play game more and more now with the store getting loaded & content quality decreasing & too much focus on glam with no stats worthy of use except we pay a subscription.
Real shame there is no custom music with new mounts as someone who collects mounts I've altogether stopped buying them because of this. I mean for $24.99(almost $30 here in Canada) I would at least expect that. It's a shame really but I can't give them money for mounts if they chose to do keep adding generic theme, the generic mount theme isn't enjoyable anymore.Over 300 songs in the OST and they couldn't find something to add to the mount that works and sounds nice.
Isn't the emote the dance that's done in the SB wvr storyline near the end? That's kinda neat that they made it usable by players, though I'm as usual 50/50 on it being bought for money and not earned in-game somehow
25% increase is meaningless in overall accounts because they take into account any Trial accounts alongside legitimate purchases. Bragging about numbers that can only go up, such as Overwatch with its countless posts about "X" players have answered the call or w/e, is never a good indicator of where the game is at.
What we should be asking is for the actual active subscription count and the retention rate for the game. Honestly I wouldn't be amazed if with the sudden plethora of Mog Shop items and underwhelming content that the Retention Rate has actually gone down and we're sitting at a lower player count than what would be desired given the Stormblood expansion sales.
The Mog Shop has honestly gotten out of hand shoving many things that should be in the game or re-introduced into their yearly events for event items. Outside of maybe Promotional Items such as the Nezha outfits, Nimbus Eastern set and Physical Purchase Codes there is no reason things like Edda's outfit shouldn't have been a High End PoTD reward or Sleipnir associated with Odin's Primal fight. Many of these things should have incentives to run older content or play as certain classes not quick cash grabs like the Freemium Companion App.
I'm yet to see the validity of selling emotes as Mog station items. I just... no.
The Red Hare Horse I purchased already because I seriously love collecting horse mounts in this game. The Devs invest a lot of time and resources developing mounts in general and I can respect that; hence why I bought this one (and purchased the Odin's Sleipnir in the past as well).
But those emotes? That is where I draw the line... absolutely no.
So, about that... I eventually worked out it's just the Elezen "welcome" (probably) and "joy" (definitely) emotes strung together, and I honestly can't remember him ever using it. Will be paying more attention as I replay Heavensward (currently up to questing in Dravania) but so far, I'm not seeing it as a 'signature' gesture at all.
Meanwhile over in the MCH questline, Stephanivien seems to be using /joy at least once a quest, so I associate it more with him.
He uses it at least twice, actually. Once in a cutscene, I think, and then I believe once when you've made it into his house for the first time and he's super duper excited that his bestest most dear hero-friend-beloved is finally there meeting his family and checking out his digs and ISN'T IT GREAT!?!?!? and when you talk to him he does it. (If it's not then, then it's some other time he's in the house with you and you can talk to him for optional dialogue.) You are right in that it's not actually common, but it's pretty distinct and something only he has ever done.
The emote is kinda similar to welcome and joy, but for the 'welcome' part the hands actually go up and forward (the actual /welcome is more out to the sides), and although the joy part is very similar, it's slower and if you haven't targeted anything, you look at your fist. You also get a giant :D face which is very unlike pretty much everything else we've got in our repertoire. (exception: male elezen /happy, which is a pretty aggressive /welcome with a step forward that morphs into /psych)
He's pretty expressive in general though. In the Japanese cutscenes he gets super wide eyes and stuff and he does something similar, and he gives exasperated shrugs at a certain young lord's attitude.
So... does the English version actually change what emotes he does in cutscenes?
(and yeah, I've seen the /happy emote - very over-the-top considering how restrained most of their emotes are! Wouldn't really describe it as an aggressive /welcome though.)
I play a male Elezen, so I found the emote a tad redundant!
Thought haurchefant was pretty overrated anyway
Estinien and Aymeric much better Elezen bro tier.
helluuuuuuu
Yeah...he's a lot blander in the beginning and they even toned down his gestures. They had to slowly bring him back to his correct characterization after there was some sort of outcry, haha. In Japanese he gets super excited about the WoL...like...really excited...he's actually a character archetype in Japanese writing, sort of the 'excitable and inappropriate eccentric' type. We don't have this character archetype and would have regarded him as some kind of creepy villain immediately when it was meant to be humorous. I think in the end he was still as lovable as he was intended to be, so I don't mind the English version at all. (Yes, I know some people don't care about him! But a lot still do!)
I'd call /welcome aggressive just because as a short person if I had someone over six feet throwing their arms out and stepping right into my space like that chest first, I think I'd be backing up a few steps. XD
I would like to add a thing that has been buggin me. They add all this to the mogstation, they changed the vet rewards to a sub reward and haven't done anything for that in a year. I know it's pretty petty of me but still kinda bugs me
I was aware that they'd changed his script/personality and had to back up on it, but I didn't realised they'd been able to change his emotes as well. Anyway, I got through the game the first time without knowing about it and without really noticing anything was amiss. Maybe because they 'course corrected' early enough that it just seemed like he's becoming more friendly as you get to know him better.
I do remember him being excited when we first got to Fortemps Manor, but I don't think he was doing any emotes then. Will have to pay double attention with my other alt character when he gets there.
Haha, fair enough! Though I was thinking more in comparison to the actual /welcome emote. They're not really the same motion other than being 'arms out'. Though I guess it could get used as a dramatic welcome gesture in a cutscene. (One of my alt characters is Elezen so I can test it out.)
Also since you mentioned /psych... that's a weird animation. The one time I remember seeing a character use it, I thought they were meant to be angry and it didn't really make sense.
