Healer Wishlist for 5.0

As the title says what is your wishlist for the healers upon our descent into the 5.0 expansion.


My wishlist

White Mage
1.) Protect: Remove it from the other healers and give WHM the PVP protect for PVE.
2.) Shell: Places a buff on the target that Absorbs one magical spell and converts the damage into X% HP.
3.) Reraise: Revives the target after one KO, long recast. (debuffs the target preventing them from reapplying.)
4.) Haste: Increases target attack speed, and lowers recast times.
5.) Dia: Replaces AOE Aero (Holy DOT)

6.) Better targeting

Reraise would probably be the most embarrassing skill to throw on a DPS but it would be perfect for Tank Busters. You could plan the skill to force a tank swap when one tank dies to a ridiculous attack. The weakness would be annoying tho.

I doubt if they added Reraise it would be targettable. Mostly Self only so a WHM could recover without another raise help.

I wouldn't expect reraise because it would make mechanic skipping much too accessible.

There have always been group sac + healer LB3 strategies in tougher fights to avoid doing complicated mechanics and I could see this making things way too cheeseable.

But if everyone dies to a mechanic you will still be the only one alive, with little to no MP and weakness so the chances of a recovery is very low. This is for when both healers die to a healer mechanic or to save a co-healer MP. If AST can provide an attack buff why shouldn't the main healer of the game be able to raise themselves atleast once per fight.

I dont think that will work the way you think it would. You can try to cause that kind of cheese now by holding off on accepting a raise, but it doesn't actually work. When the whole party dies and you try to raise the boss will reset and all players sent to the corral, even if the animation started.

I assume reraise would be similar.

My main healer wish list is dancer.

Less reach, scholar needs major work on spell synergy. We're extremely wierd in that a lot of our spells and abilities dont mesh well. Its little things like comparing AST time extension abilities vs our emergency tactics.

Like AST time extension works on any buff an ast provides lots of synergy and meshing, it will even extend duration of synergy a long CD. Mean while sch has been taking back steps. Emergency tactics use to be nice it spread all our buffs (at the time galvanize and e4e). Now it only works for one of our buffs and a role skill buff. It still functions the same, but that is less synergy.

Similar thing happened with the fairy recently. A buff we can give her that meshed well with sone of her abilities, now though it is down to one. They keep removing our abilities ability to work together and it gives this wierd feel.

Another is dissipation, it has horrible meshing. It contradicts itself and is a very awkward ability. It gives us a healing buff, and more aether stacks. But the two things don't help each other the aether stacks seems to be why you would use this but using them makes it so you aren't using the healing buff, and vice versa. Its wierd.

The idea is to live and then healer LB3 so the only person at low health or MP would be the WHM who was reraised. I am generally a big proponent of WHM buffs but this isn't what we need.

I assummed it would be more automatic than a raise cast by someone else honestly - more like a second life than getting raised by an NPC or something. I guess it depends on how it works. If it was like a normal raise it would feel kinda lackluster though - you're just saving someone else mp.

For healing to be a little less about how much DPS I can pump out and more about healing. Please make it less undertuned SE...

It's not the worst thing in the world and I enjoy it on WHM particularly but I feel like if I wanted to play a DPS I'd...play a DPS.

Seconded. So much.

Since WHM is all about raw heals, why not create a new powerful version of Protect called "Protect 2" for WHM only. Protect 2 transcends death meaning when a player dies and gets resurrected, WHM's Protect 2 still remains and does not come off (no recast needed). Also.. Protect 2 would act as a heal buff to receive extra heal percentages only from WHM. Like an extra 5-10% heal buff receive increased on players along with the usual magic/physical damage reduction (This part of damage reduction will remain the same as the original Protect).

The 5-10% heal buff receive on players will only work if heals comes from a WHM. Meaning it's not a 5-10% heal buff that can be used by AST/SCH. But I suppose if we're talking about synergy, why not let it be a 5% heal buff when heals is received from AST/SCH and 10% when heals received from WHM.

I say if keeping balance between the 3 classes of healers, let AST and SCH keep the old Protect and WHM have my proposed Protect 2. :o

This skill is called "Seed Of Life" and is the skill from the last boss of the White Mage "The Lost City Of Amdapor (Hard)" called Kuribu.

The Tooltip is (for the People whos forget):

Its the same like thos Protect II, but has a other name. There are 2 points for me:

- Its better to let the Name of the skill clear. Protect is a deff skill and I belive a lot of us dont like the old Protect from ARR where WHM has the mag./phy. Deff and the other Jobs has an only phy. I belive a clear way is better than call it Protect II. But that is secondary.^^

- I think the main feature should be that this skill comes from the city of the White Mages and so powerful to be worth it for Level 80.

Why should the White Mages not be able to use one of their most powerful spells of yore? Lore basis is more than given!

I think due to a releasable resurrection opportunity this spell should have a cooldown timer of 10 minutes. But the buff of "Seed of Life" https://secure.xivdb.com/img/game/018000/018661.png should hold the whole 10 minutes.

So with someone in the group every 10 minutes has a way quickly back into the fight. That would make the White Mage more aggressive for many raid group leaders. Did I hear a way to work around skills? ^^

If it is a instand. or castable Skill is a question about balance. If you ask me, I belive a castime is okay. And it should not use to dead people, as a simpel BR (Battleres.).The player's head should think along.

And the player who is revived should NOT bear any negative after-effects like "Weakness" or "Brink Of Death".

3. Protect given back to WHM with PvP like effects
4. Shell - straight magic defense on one party member (requires one lily, two lilies doubles the effect, three lilies grants AoE shell)
5. Remove Break as a role skill or update it
6. Give push back abilities similar to Fluid Aura to SCH and AST. Update animation to using one palm for badassness
7. Replace Break role ability with ability 'White Wind'. White Wind effect: Cures self and party members within range. Cure potency: 350. Additional effect: removes most status effects for self and party members within range. Recast: 180 secs.

Anyone with me on these changes? :)

2. Or... just remove it entirely. It serves no design purpose other than as an additional punishment for death, which we already have Weakness/Brink for.

4. You're describing a worst version of PvP Protect. The Lilly part is also a bad idea - required Lilies were aready removed from DB because playing with it was terrible and promoted bad gameplay, and it would also make it the only spell to do something other than CDR with them, which while a good idea on the surface, becomes less so when it's just the one skill.
5. I vote for putting the Heavy effect back on Miasma2 and Stella.
6. ...why? It almost never serves any purpose anyway. We don't need the button bloat.
7. Oh hey look, another must-take role skill competing for our limited slots.

White Wind, it's for Blue Mage no ?
No interest to give similar ability 'Fluid Aura' to SCH and AST.


My wishlist for AST :
- no CD on Draw for Trial/Raid before the pull.
- Nocturnal Stance removed or really upgraded this time (not the shield, but abilities tied to Noct : CO, IC, TD, etc) ?
- An update to his auto-attack ; he would thrown cards remotely.
- An update to his weapon : the "duel disk" as secondary weapon ; and then some new abilities tied to it (as the kind of "trap cards").
- Draw of Destiny : a new ability (120 sec cd) which let us draw the card we want (especially for plan Bole in fight, but useful too for Ewer, Balance).
- Shooting Star : a new (random) ability to plan (180 sec) : sacrifice all your cards (more cards sacrificed, effect more powerful) and a random effect will occur among Dark Hole (big aoe damage), Star Rain (big aoe heal), Nebula (all cards effect on teamate).

My Wishlist

Healers in-general
1. Better and more interesting DPSing skills and mechanics.
2. Do something with Protect. It's just a place-and-forget spell that last 30-minutes. It's just boring and is almost a requirement (hell, some tanks refuse to leave the entrance of a dungeon until you put it on). Then replacing it with another Cross-Role action is annoying. Especially if you are in a learning or prog party, where wiping is a thing. You place Protect, swap it out, the fight starts, people start to die but you can't put re-apply Protect on to them. Protect may not be mandatory but lowering the amount of damage the whole party receives for 30-minutes is too good of a boon to ignore.
3. Change or Remove Break. It's useless. Even in when you're soloing, in the open world, you can either fight things or just run and in solo-instances, most things are immune to Heavy and/or are in a small arena where you can't run from them anyway.
4. Maybe increase the chances of Eye for an Eye to activate.
5. Maybe increase Cleric Stance to 10%. I can dream... >w>
6. Do something with Rescue. It's very gimmicky and people should probably learn when they can push DPS and when they should leave an AoE. I've only every really used it to troll friends and have only ever been in one party where one, solitary Melee DPS thought the healers should be Rescuing them so they can pump out more DPS (even though there was another Melee in the party that was doing more damage then they were and was still dodging AoEs just fine).


AST
1. Another DoT would be nice
2. Change Lady of Crown into something more readily usable. As it is now, You either hold onto Lady til it is useful, which in some fights could take longer then 60 seconds, the time it would take you to draw another card, or you just waste it to overheal a small amount of damage so you have room to potentially draw a Lord. Maybe it could be changed into an HoT? Or some kind of small MP recovering effect?
3. Change the Benefic Proc. Same as #2, you either try and wait to use it when it would be useful, only this time you have a timer, or waste it on overhealing a small boo-boo. Would removing the timer be overpowered? Or just make it cost free like WHM's Freecure.

I know it's said in every single healer thread ever, but rework of the Lily system and associated traits. The whole thing is an absolute mess and needs to be changed, from the way we get them to the effect it gives us.

I'd also like to see more interesting ways to DPS as a healer in general, but as long as SE keeps this stance that healers shouldn't need to dps, we'll probably never get more than what we have now.

SCH:
General:
Balance MP disparity. Broil II shouldn't cost 20% more than Stone IV at less potency. Miasma II shouldnt cost 233% more than Aero III. I would put it at 150% the cost of Broil II.
Make Miasma II based on location, like bane/gravity so its easier to maintain good weave practices, instead of chaining yourself to melee range.

Fairy:
Seperate the role identity of Eos and Selene.
Just pick what it is and go for it. Personally I would say single target healing fairy vs AOE healing fairy. We shouldnt try to add more DPS buffing support to healers. It already causes too much one sided love to the healers than can up a DPS' numbers.

With this, Fey union could be AOE based (100-150 potency) with Eos and single target with selene (same potency as it is now.) Selene could replace her single Silent Dusk with a larger potency single target heal (to contrast with Eos party wide heal over time.)

Balance SCH DPS with fun gameplay. Right now it feels very clunky, but the overall DPS/RDPS is the best of all healers. I would rather they bring SCH closer to the other healers, but still flow.

WHM

Make lillies more relevant to gameplay. Don't make us go out of way to get them. Combine confessions with Lillies. Using Medica, Medica II, Cure III, Cure II, or cure generates a lilly. Every time a lilly is gained removed time from all abilities it currently Affects Potency is now affected by lillies instead of cool down. 5%, 10%, 20%. The only real downfall to this is how annoying it could continue to make gameplay, avoiding using tetra, for example, so that you can hit with a harder assize. Reduce the cool down of plenary indulgence. Based around WHM at 30 Yalms. Same potency as confessions.

AST
Ast is in a realllly good spot as is. I would continue to create skills that diverge from SCH/WHM playstyle. I really love everything theyve made so far for AST in SB. Just like previous posters, maybe they could add a "positive thinking" or "Will over the future" to draw specific cards outside of battle. It would be difficult to make without someone finding a way for abuse, but that's really all AST suffers from. Bad RNG prepull.

Healer general:

Balance role skills. Keep quirky skills, remove things that are mandatory or increase slots available.

I was thinkign about bringing healers back up for DPS relative to the max DPS and the tank's current DPS, but actually looking back, the classes just had such a large DPS difference within the tank and healing roles. The top Tank DPS was War at about 65% and the Top Healer was at 52% (compared to 45% now.) The other healers were in this 45% range.

Make Broil a 2s cast with 2.5s recast so I can weave oGCDs.

It would have to be 1.5 seconds or you're still clipping. All OGCDs take 1 second minimum. Its why the AST change was so solid. Aal healers really should have gotten it, but AST needed it for quality of playstyle alone. WHM DPS needs brought up a smidge and SCH brought down a little less.

My Wishlist:

New Healer - Dancer
I know this isn't new or special since Dancer's requested pretty heavily from a lot of people both as a healer or DPS, but I do strongly believe it will be such a great choice, especially because of its potential to not feel like the current healers. I love Astrologian, but it didn't do much in the way of giving healers something other than a mystical, robe-wearing spell caster to choose from.

Overall Changes:
Revamped Role Actions: Half of the Healer role actions are useless (i.e. Break, Cleric Stance, etc.) and the other half are imperative (Lucid Dreaming, Protect, etc.). Role actions have the opportunity to be interesting and unique mechanics that allow healers to further customize their style of play and should include more interesting tools.

The ability to equip specific glamour plates: I have multiple glamour plates for each healer, but it's slightly annoying to have to constantly change my glamour every time I swap jobs, especially if I'm in an area that won't allow me to.

Job Specific:
White Mage -
Replace Fluid Aura: Not only is Fluid Aura basically useless, but could we please just get an offensive water spell? Conjurer's are supposed to be about this natural trinity of Earth, Wind, and Water, and the first useful water ability White Mages get is Asylum at level 52. Really? But speaking of elements...
Quake, Tornado, and Flood: I'd love to see these integrated into the White Mages kit, but not as a potency upgrade of Stone, Aero, and Water. I'd like to see these play a more interesting role in the White Mages ability set and somehow compliment their healing nature rather than just be for DPSing.
Reworked Lilies: Lilies are currently the most uninteresting and uninspired gauge mechanic in Stormblood while also having nothing to do with the White Mage's lore besides that they look pretty. I want to see this get overhauled into something more thematically appropriate, and could even play into that Quake, Tornado, Flood thing I mentioned.

Scholar -
Update Ruin, Bio, and Miasma spells: Just like how Broil replaced Ruin, I'd like to see the other Arcanist DPS tools get updated and renamed into something that helps Scholar further differentiate itself from Summoner. I was thinking of some of the spells from 11 like Choke, Rasp, and Frost for Bio II, Miasma, and Miasma II respectively, and Drown for Ruin II. The Ruin II update should also be stronger than the Miasma II update since Miasma II is just flat out better in everything except MP management.
Make Selene feel more satisfying: Selene's Fey Wind is basically carrying her kit right now. Yes, Fey Caress can be useful at times, but its still super situational compared to Eos' Fey Illumination or Fey Covenant. I want something that makes Selene's kit feel just as satisfying in regards to either Fey Caress and Silent Dusk being updated or replaced altogether.
Make Dissipation feel more satisfying: I know this argument has been beaten to death, and I'm not going to argue that Dissipation is useless because its updates have at least given it a niche, but it still feels horrible to use. I never want to use it even in situations where it could benefit me because of how bad it feels to use. I want something that feels great. Indomitability feels great. Bane feels great. Chain Stratagem feels great. Fey Union feels... acceptable. Dissipation feels awful. Maybe make it so that the fairy doesn't disappear, but simply channels her energy into you to empower you? That would feel better, especially if you could choose to end it like Fey Union.

Astrologian -
Spire Change: I'd like to see Ewer drop its MP refresh and tack that onto Spire. Spire's usefulness would still be niche, but if it applied both the MP and TP refreshes, A) The card would now be applicable to every job like all the other cards, and B) spreading it to the entire team would (still be useless) actually provide something to each recipient (Not that anyone would do that, but at least it wouldn't only impact 2-6 members of the team). You could also rework Ewer into something more interesting. I'd like to say a HoT effect since that would maintain Ewer's duality with Spire, but I'm not sure how good or bad that might be.
That's it for Astro, actually. They're in a really great spot and feel pretty good to play across the board.

SCH
1. Do something more with the Faerie Gauge. You could have a DPS ability that uses some or another heal or support ability or something...
2. Remove or Change Silent Dusk on Selene. Even with all Fairy skills becoming Abilities that take priority over whatever your fairy was doing, this is very niche. You first have to have no one else in your party who can Stun (Tanks or Range with Role Class, MNK, DRG, or even a WHM with Holy. There's also AST but they shouldn't be using Celestial Opposition to Stun things), then you have to have Selene out over Eos, who is more valued right now. You could replace it with another support ability or maybe a version of Eos's Whispering Dawn so Selene can have some healing support.
3. Just have the Fairy float and follow who they are tethered when under Fey Union.
4. A way to refresh DoTs.

WHM
1. Lillies. Do something with them.
2. Do something with Fluid Aura. In my dream world, Fluid Aura would do damage and not have knockback.
3. Maybe have Presence of Mind and Thin Air effected by Lillies.
4. Have a way for HoTs to give Lillies, whether it be RNG or doing x-amount of tics or something.

Maybe something like a big ward on the team to balance with Eos's HP regen ?
This way SCH would have to adapt their summoned fairy during the fight to prevent big damages and then regen HP ^^

3 weird "broken" things and the job needs a "Major" rework?

Also when you talk about "Emergency Tactic" I assume you actually meant "Deployment Tactic". Emergency Tactic is the skill that turns your shield into a heal.

Imo only Deployment Tactic needs a proper rework since, as you mentionned you can only spread your shield now.
Also, I consider the combo Shieldcrit+Emergency Tactic to be too strong but that's a different topic. And why do we even care about E4E spread?

Regarding the Fairy, I really don't see the problem, you can't do the brain dead "rouse + Whispering Dawn" but to compensate they buffed Whispering Dawn potency.
Overall it's still a slight nerf to that specific skill but now you can actually use Rouse whenever you actually want more heal.
And I mean, the #1 issue about Whispering Dawn was adressed!

Regarding Dissipation I agree about the apparent contradiction between the buff and the stack.
But this is not a SCH problem, it's an overall game design issue. Every single ability in the game doesn't scale from buff/debuff.
Every single job are affected by that, Tetragram, EartlyStar, Essential Dignity etc etc.
Dissipation received a good fix in... 4.2? (or was it 4.1?), the cast and cost reduction on fairies made the skill much better overall and it's actually something you can play around.

I actually use it quite often now when I know I won't need my fairy for the next 30sec and I could use 3 more stacks to speed up my Aetherflux cd and pile up more.
The only big problem left is that you get no Fairy Gauge while the fairy's gone (so that's potentially 60 points you miss before you call her back)


So, I don't say everything is perfect, but "a major rework" is a bit of a stretch

I know it's a wierd concept. It's not about power or the job not performing correctly, it's a pure aesthetic issue.

Jobs generally have lots of abilities that mesh or work in tandem. Dps have combos, procs, etc. Tanks also have combos for dps and threat. Even the other two healers have procs key abilities that work with each other. Scholar it seems keep getting more and more of our abiliites abilitiy to affect each other and mesh taken away.

I always put this up did you know scholars the only job that doesn't have a proc or combo based off their base action for their role. The other two healers even have it their base heal on both ast and whm can cause a proc to give them a bonus on a strong heal. Sch psychic interacts with nothing. While this stuff isn't game breaking it gives the class this wierd feel to it.

Also this is a wish list thing, they by means dont have to address any of this I am just expressing something I wish would be addressed. This is a wish list thread.

Edit: also yes I did mean the functionality of deployment tactics not emergency tactics. Emergency tactics does about as much as it can concievably do at this time. Deployment is the one that got thrown off in SB.

This is the part that feels wierd to me:

If I wanted to describe ast time extension moves I would write:

Extended the duration of ast buffs on the player.

Simple easy, and it's all ast buffs, cards, sect buffs, and even their long CD of synergy can be extended.

In HW similarly deployment tactics could easily described as:

Spreads sch buffs to other players.

We only had two sch buffs then e4e and galvanize, but now in SB this move is no longer as clean:

Spreads sch buffs to other players, except not excog, and also role skill e4e.

The actual functionality didn't change, but how it feels that it meshes well with our other abilities is different.

I know it's wierd but it's just how I've been feeling scholar has been moving away from.

Well I don\\'t see the problem with that. Like, so you even use physic enough to miss something like that? These proc are rather useless since they proc out of a skill we barely use. (I still get your point, but I don\\'t see it as a problem from both a design and balance pov.)

Personnally the more unique healer are the better. For instance the sheer ressemblance between AST diurnal and WHM is something that I find much more concerning.

So I understand that the direction SCH is taking might displease you but imo Sch is actually in the best position both design and balance wise. It has the most unique mechanic and skills. ( but this comes down to preferences so theres little point arguing over that)

The integration of healing and dps abilities to help fuel each other would be my #1 wish for 5.0. More than Dancer, more than Viera, more than WHM getting buffed.

SE needs to come out in favor of healer dps in a real way so that that entire debate can just finally die.

It does make me wonder what a dancer-healer would be like if ever.

I DO hope they'll be healers in 5.0.

I don't see why they would need to do such a thing.
Also, SE stance on that debate is very clear, they don't want to force dps on healer which is why they balance content without healer dps contribution for dps check (altough I suspect this to not be true for last savage tier and especially ultimate)

So technically there is no debate, we just keep arguing and talking about that but if there's one thing you can be sure won't happen, it's that healer will be tuned around actively smashing the boss. (unless y.p has a drastic change of mindset)

I put it in another thread, but DPS isn't just raids, dungeons, and trials. It is also needed solo in instances, where I have needed multiple echo's to do enough damage before a phase or I'd get swamped and no amount of holy's could get me out until I had the echo. That content also needs to be balanced for healer DPS too.
