I used to have a scenic view of the environment from my house that, while nothing to write home about, was reasonably enjoyable. However, over time that view has become replaced by taller homes, homes with random pieces of flair sticking off of it, or a combination of the two.
These are the housing glamours - the Mogwall, Carbuncle, Paissa, etc. homes. These houses all exceed the normal dimensions of standard homes. For example, the "Microscopically Small Mogwall" is anything but, turning a small house into a three story monstrosity that blots out the sky and makes the yard of a neighboring home feel very claustrophobic.
These housing glamour designs, particularly any new housing designs going forward, should be creative but remain within the scale dimensions of the standard home. I don't want these neighborhoods to turn into a place where I can't see the sky unless I look straight up. I shouldn't see the wall of a neighboring house at a lower elevation when I look out towards the horizon from the top of my roof.
It's about keeping these designs "neighbor friendly". There must be ways to make creative housing glamours without making these homes take up more and more air-space. This is probably less of a problem on certain maps like the Lavender Beds, but in already cramped quarters like The Mist, it's well past the point of starting to suck.

Looking at some of the Hingan (I think that is the one, the tall multi tiered houses), the shape of the house is twice the size of the actual house itself on the inside. It's insane. If you're going to give us glamours like that, they the house on the inside should reflect the space you should be getting (where are our attics?).
An option to turn off house glamours would be nice, might even help some people with loading times on less hearty computers (just set everything to the default of that housing district). -

I wish they would make more food and knick-knack type items that are not interactive. I have a lot of those meals I can't put out due to that stupid 40 disappearing item issue. Also W2B toilet for house, tired of going outside in the bushes. I had the coolest old style chain pull one in Wild Star. I shrunk down an evil bubbling cauldron and inset it into the bowl. Was quite an interesting effect hehe.

A Mist house in the ward a friend lives in has had the view from their garden ruined due to the ridiculously high roof of a medium sized carbuncle house. It blocks out so much of the scenery. I don't know if it bothers the owner, but it would bother me immensely if it was my house.
I'm all for having loads of wacky or traditional skins, but in certain areas of some districts they can be a giant eyesore for surrounding neighbours. Not because they're not to my taste, but because they dominate the view far too much. -

I totally agree. Some of the skins are ridiculously big. I used to have a nice mist med (plot 14) that slowly was surrounded by Carby / Choco skins. Five of them all around me. I finally had to demolish that house and move. After that I'd ONLY buy land if it was private, so I couldnt have neighbors with huge gaudy skins blocking beautiful views, like lavender beds 11/16/27/28/29, mist 30,shiro 16/28 etc.

Yeah, I moved for exactly this reason. I loved my old Mist plot (9/39), and had been waffling over relocate, but then my neighbor in the medium below decided a giant shirogane castle was necessary.
It obliterated my view of the ward (which was nice before, b/c although I was as far from the beachfront as you could be in Mist, you could still see the water and the whole neighborhood... and had that neat little grassy area as well.) and cemented my decision. All of my neighbors seemed to agree as well.
I don't mind housing skins! It's a neat concept (though I do wish they'd add in more individual pieces for customization rather - the way we have exterior fixtures that can be used anywhere) or make house styles unrestricted to location at this point. -

I have a carbuncle house, but I actually kind of hate the HOUSE part. It's a big ugly book theme that dyes terribly.
However I simply love the Door and the Carbuncles above my gate.
If I could get rid of the big ugly house and keep the individual elements, I would in a heart beat. -

The paissa mansion doesn't appear to be taller than the default goblet mansion skin from afar, although where my plot is at, it's VERY difficult to get a good picture in the exact same spot without being on the plot itself. I mean either way I get it if some people don't like it, but I find the default Goblet mansion to just be.. boring? It's boring. I like the default mist/lavender beds/shirogane skins FAR more than the default Goblet skin. But I like the Goblet itself and my FC is ...it's called Paissa so. We've got the paissa skin. It is a bit amusing that almost every nearby small house has relocated and I thought it was because of my paissa, but no, those same plots in every ward seem to be vacant. -

I think they went a bit overboard with how large the Shirogane castle is.
There's a castle mostly obstructing my Shirogane house's view of the ocean (I'm at the second highest level of housing, while the castle is at the lowest and it's still an issue), and it's a little vexing. -

Totally agree with OP, there's a Carbuncle house in a middle plot adjacent to my large plot and the thing is as high as my mansion even though the former is located much lower than mine!...

I have a plot 46 in Shiro, up on the hill (I think it's the highest lot in the zone, elevation-wise) and the other mansion on one of the lowest levels is a Carbuncle mansion. It absolutely dominates the skyline, even from halfway across the map. It's a shame because I think the Carby house is cute, but it's just way, way oversized and that's very off-putting.

I am a bit worried about my carbuncle cottage annoying my neighbors, but on the other hand wanting a carbuncle house is the reason why I got a personal house in the first place. I think it is adorable, but with the size and colors I can see how others would find it obnoxious. That said I'm glad we don't have an Eorzean Home Owners Association, dealing with them in RL is annoying enough. Most of the Shirogane ward that my FC's estate is in has castle skins up (including ours) so whenever I climb up our roof there the entire ward item culls like mad. I love the detail on the housing glamour skins, but it would be nice if they would make some more choices that are not huge.
