That's reading a lot into it something that doesn't mention accounts, or house culling at all. I doubt they'll strip houses from current owners, but the only info we have thus far is they're looking for a fair way for everyone to get a house which really isn't new info. The possibility of different sized apartments is nice, but my personal opinion is they should stop wasting the resources on those and just put it towards a full fledged outdoor/indoor upgradable instanced housing.

I really hope it is made 1 FC, 1 Personal per server per account. Because there really is no need to own 5, 10, 15, or 20 houses; and I highly doubt that the developers intended for one account to own more than 1 (or 2 if you’re the master of an FC) house the way some individuals do (for the record, I have seen the ward on Mateus owned by two players, and the houses are basically nothing more than storage/strangely designed furniture shops). Allow the people that own multiple houses on the same account to pick 1 personal house out of all the ones they own (and 1 FC house, if they’re master of one), and then free up all the other ones so that other people/FCs can own them. Allow for all alts on the account to share the main personal house. Just don’t set any arbitrary limits (e.g., FCs only for Large/Medium); there’s no reason for that.

I really hope they do NOT implement a lottery or bidding/auction type system though. I don’t really like the RNG shift from “are the servers going to crash on you”/“are you going to load in fast enough” to “are you going to be lucky enough for the system to choose you”. Lottery/auction would be fairer (if they made it in such a way that multiple bids for a plot cannot be placed, and the bid is the starting price of the plot), but I still don’t think it’s a good enough solution to the problem that Housing in this game is.

I really would like to see some expansion of the apartments—different size options, balcony options for gardening, AND the option to add tenants so it feels like a better alternative to a personal house. However, I still think instanced housing is the only real way to solve the Housing problems in this game. And, like I’ve proposed before, make the current wards FC only, and make a new ward with all the outward appearance of a neighborhood, but the plots lead to instanced plots (yard included; browsable like apartments and FC rooms are) for personal houses. The more this game grows, the bigger an issue housing is going to be, because even if the developers added 2, 4, 6, or even 12 more wards, it wouldn’t be enough to meet the current demands, much less future demands if the game expands rapidly.

Wow reading alot into are ya lol..the problem with shiro was people didn't all have a fair n square chance due to login issuses and server q's, and transfer housing bugs.

If you notice its says "everyone can obtain a new house" not people with out a house lol...people with multi houses are still people and count when mentioning everyone

Each characters are not unique and this is the very reason why people can't purchase plots because we have so many people using 8 characters and 8 FCs to purchase 16 plots in one ward. What you are saying is more of roleplaying set of mind, but because this game can't support 1000 wards, we will never be able to have alts to purchase same ward houses.

Please please show me these many people..cause as far as i know there truly is just 1 set of 2 ppl on mathus that own a whole ward with 8 personal 8 fc houses..there are fc's that havei ts members buy personal houses in the same ward..way differnt... when it boils down i think the number of wards own by 2 people maybe 1 or 2 thats it

You act like this is a wide spread epidemic of 2 people owning wards with 8 fcs 8 personal houses...Ive only in all the threads ive been in or read have seen 1 ONE ward owned by 2 people the tons of people ive seen comment. no one has said its happened on another server just this 1.

Most the legit (nonflippers) who own more then one house own 2-3 for rp purposes and have owned them

Tbh this is just assuming things...

It states that they are implementing a system where everyone "can" obtain a house, not where everyone "will" obtain a house.
As they clearly indicate that they are sticking to the ward system, I would rather guess that they are thinking of stepping away from the rush to the placard in front of the house.

For all we know all houses will simply become an auction where you can bid for a few hours - days - weeks so that you don't have to take a day off from work, get kicked out by the server because the server doesn't like you.

alts are people. I play my alts just as much as I play my main. So really I cant say I have a "main" per se. I just simply have multiple chars.

If they do go with a lottery system of some sort, it either not require you to pay upfront or be locked between once per account otherwise people with tons of gil will just register eight characters onto one house to better their odds.

1 personal 1 fc house per account is the only idea I've seen so far that has support from nearly everyone.... so this is most likely what they are aiming for.... it won't stop house flipping but it will slow it down considerably... and there will be more open plots on all servers

And how many homes do you think its free up right now on your server..30-100 maybe..theres not gonna be one open plot..if you have 7.500 ppl on a server and 2,880 houses it dont matter if 1 person or multi people own them...theres not enough.. untill house number is higher then player population its not gonna matter..stop thinking this is the end all fix lol you wanna truly end house flippers..put a random timer on when the plot goes up for sale if they cant gauntee the land to the buyer they have no buyer.

Were dealing with a multi million dollar company that makes millions amonth from us and you all trying for scraps "Settling" for some easy fixs...we should rage these fourms with soild fixs like at lest 50 wards per housing city each for the smaller pop serversthats 12,000 homes enough to work a 7500 server for awile with fc's

The "hoarders" sellers can be killed with a land release timer. the amount of RP people who own multi homes is low...These flippers and hoarders there not rmt pople i know 5 people who have sold homes.The picked up homes n shiro just to make fast gil..all of them end game raiders who don't care about houses.. 1 held a cliff side mist large n med till he could get his money on blamug then bought another large to sell...now none of these people are my friends or do i play with but there well known

We don't have numbers to see what effect hoarders/flippers have on the housing shortage and it could well be that they're only a fraction of a percent of all home owners- but they're the face of a problem SE created and allowed to fester. The short window for development and testing combined with the issues they have thanks to their spaghetti and legacy 1.0 code mash-up means that a comprehensive change is unlikely. They'd either have to have been working on it for a long time already in secret (as they are wont to do), or they'll have to drop almost EVERYTHING planned for 4.2 just for this. As important as housing is, I don't think YoshiP will sign off on seeing Eureka delayed again. :P

Is the addition of more space plus the statement that they will add a system of some kind to ensure fairness in buying not a promise of a solution? It's not likely to be a cure-all, but there is no perfect way to solve this mess in the first place. There will be kinks to iron out and adjustments to be made but SE wants this headache to go away- they will be working on this as long as it takes I think. So yes I think they're promising a solution in 4.2 and might have longer-term plans they'll announce at a later date, depending on how they decide to implement the changes.

The biggest complaint about fairnes with Shiro release was the login server crashing n q times.and supply.and that it wasn't fair some people got right in.

Not 1 Dev or Yoshi has mentioned multi plot owners at all only people on the forums. They have talked about supply and there sorry the servers screwed up causeing people not to get in.

They've been tight-lipped on the details since they don't want to cause speculation and fear-mongering- that's in YoshiP's original forum post addressing the issue that you quoted. Talking about potential restrictions so far out from the patch would only cause chaos and salt the likes of which we haven't seen since the drama around job changes in 4.0. We know nothing but that they promised a solution. They are delivering on that in 4.2. To what extent is unknown, but with the pressure from players to restrict housing ownership based on accounts AND the fact that that solution would hit house flippers and hoarders at once, it's not unreasonable to think they'd implement such a thing if it was within their power to do so. I have a feeling that they're going to have more comprehensive steps in place -delayed purchasing in new wards until servers are live and stable for some time after launch, random timers after selling before the plot goes up for sale again, etc.- and any restrictions would only be one part of the plan to make the situation better. (In truth I think they'd implement ownership criteria and account flags just to quell all the bad publicity the extreme hoarders and flipping profiteers create. Even if they're a tiny fraction of the issue, they have an outsized effect on people's perceptions of the game when Kotaku runs articles about one person buying an entire ward or someone tries to sell a house for 800 mil on Reddit.)

They'll certainly be taking steps so the same server queue issue and transfer bug don't pop up again but those sorts of things never really go away. Servers are always going to be stressed as soon as they're live with a new patch, and the issues you fixed last time might not be present but something else could very well be. (Context: I'm an applications support analyst for a major bank; you can never fix or anticipate every problem, sometimes you'll have to live with mitigating general problems or solving them only for isolated incidents.) SE will do their best to avoid a repeat and I have every faith they've identified the root causes of the 4.1 issues and fixed them so they won't happen with the launch of 4.2. But focusing solely on server and correct code behaviour isn't going to solve the housing problem- it's been around since they opened up wards for individuals and FCs to buy from the same limited pool back in 2.x. If the company is worth their salt they know this and will go further than making sure the infrastructure and transfer systems are functioning as intended.

Also, FYI, it's hard to hold a conversation with you when you zero in on single sentences and nit-pick without paying attention to the context of the entire comment. I realise you have a point you want to make but you're doing yourself a disservice by cherry-picking phrases to say the same thing over and over again.

I honestly don't think they should even permit FCs to own houses separately from individual characters as long "solo" FCs are a thing.

I feel like I read something somewhere about a bug that wouldn't allow people to relocate? And they are going to fix this bug? I wonder if that's all that's going to happen.

I hope that they add gardening to the apartments...

Might be a nice add to apartments if there was an option at the door saying "Enter private gardens" and you can have a nice little instanced area where you can put outdoor furnishings. Like a roof garden of some sort.

If you're hoping any SE employee directly says "I/We promise to..." about anything other than restoring service ASAP you're going to end up disappointed. However, if you want to infer the statement "we will address the issue in 4.2" as "we promise we will do something about it in 4.2", it's not incorrect to do so. I'm not sure why you're so hung up on the exact phrasing.

It seems like you're only going to accept literal phrases, which means you're basically saying "unless they said it in the exact way I deem acceptable I will continue to argue over semantics". You can argue however you want to but you're not really convincing anyone by being so blindly stubborn. SE said they're going to do something next major patch to finally start increasing housing availability and if they put it off or scrap the plans they've already announced they will be roasted at the stake by the community. That's as good as a promise to me.

You right cause i dont know you but twice now you have spread on the fourm that SE has promised a soultion to housing by 4.2.. There has been no promise or even talk about changing the basic rules of housing...only thing mentioned was new wards and how they will be sold to players. along with the new line of EVERYONE will have a fair chance to get a new house..

So please if your gonna say things on topics as heated as these please don't put your interpatation of there words as what they said.. To a new forum user who dosen't question what people say if they read your post and see "The promised a soultion in 4.2" there gonna be hugly dissapointed come 4.2 .. cause as mentioned above no soultion to any thing has been mentioned you see any thing ever posted by a dev such as house flippers nope (other then report them if there in pf)

This'll probably be the last time I reply to you since you're more interested in arguing semantics instead of ideas. I'll agree to disagree with you and that's that.

Your hypothetical new forum user that lacks critical thinking skills will be disappointed if there's no magical solution that fixes everything, yes. They'll also wonder why DRK feels fine for them to play, why the glamour system isn't totally unusable, and why nothing's as bad as people say it is in general. Your argument has no basis whatsoever in reality man. Don't talk to me about a sweet summer child seeing my posts and somehow interpreting that "SE is going to do something" means "SE will solve all the problems in one go and nothing will go wrong again" and how that's an awful thing. That's neither here nor there- the debate we were having was over whether SE promised something or not. You want some literal statement and a bullet list of all the changes and I'm okay with interpreting a vague commitment for what it is- a PROMISE they will do SOMETHING because they know it's a problem. Adding wards and mentioning a system to ensure fairness is part of that and I feel it lends credence to my position. Yours is "nuh uh they didn't verbally pinky swear and give an itemized list so nothing's gonna happen like you think".

I want to be optimistic about them having so completely fixed the housing that that is true but far more likely what is means is everyone 'can have a chance'. So really there is some change in how they're sold is what we should take away from this.

Either way, I remain hopeful that I can migrate elsewhere and possibly snag a better view.

Things Se has said that can be proven are

1-New wards coming in 4.2
2- A annoucment on how the new wards will be sold
3- A fair way for Everyone to buy a new house ( Everyone sadly includes right now flippers, fc with houses, fc with out houses, people with out houses and people with houses)

Again in a matter as big as the housing issue all i did was ask you to back up some thing you flat said SE stated a soultion promised in 4.2.

Different sized apartments sound like a possibility they’ll consider, not that they’re in development.

Sadly I think that's what they might end up doing... Instead of, you know, actually enforcing the one house per account limit going forward so all the career house sellers can't turn a profit. And staggering out wards /after/ the major patch has been added.

Or, you know, actually putting forth a real solution instead of one that continues to put housing out of reach of players, while still relying on an expensive and highly customization-limited system.

That is one way it could go and Yoshi makes it sound like a auction system may be put in place but I do believe there a few other ways it could go also. All the information is still very vague. I think at this point though we can rule out instance housing as Yoshi has confirmed that they are adding more wards.

Friend also brought up that they could do something along the lines of dynamic housing wards where houses would appear when people wanted to buy them, making it so there always enough for everyone. But, I don't think with our current system SE could even do that.

As is, if they keep the current system it limits a lot of the ideas and leaving with only a few fixes to the situation which may not be a fix at all, just another band aid fix. It is looking a bit grim that a lottery/auction system may be put into place but again, the information is far to vague still and we won't know anything for sure until closer to 4.2 I'll assume.

Hopefully they put their man power into a good fix for the the housing system ( I am rooting for the dynamic ward option).

As for my thoughts on a "lottery system". I dislike the RNG aspect for a feature of the game with such a large portion of advertisement coverage.

Considering practically everything in Japan is run through some form of lottery its the most likely solution he chose. Lotteries are not fun for the western audiences, period.
