The way I see it, it is a valid argument... in a single player game. In an MMO, a player has no control over what others use as glamour, but are forced to still see it. Short of implementing a client-side option to turn off others' glamours, a player that doesn't like it still has to deal with it.
I personally just roll my eyes at ridiculous (imo) costumes and move on, but I've known people that won't touch MMOs because characters using the goofy or out of place glamours ruins the aesthetic for them.
