Getting hate for glamour

not remove the entire system for everyone else...

What glamour could be so bad that you received hate for using it?

Unfortunately, it sounds as though you met a bunch of idiots. My wife dresses in a combat bikini all the time. I dress like a dandy. One of my friends is always a snowman. Another is a pretty girl who insists on wearing sensible, practical gear. All of these choices are fine, because S-E designed the glamour system to accommodate a variety of tastes. They can't police people acting like idiots, unfortunately, unless they break rules and you report them for harassment.

(OP, you seem to have really low self esteem as you have mentioned that people should report and ban you for making stupid remarks a few times now. I'm a bit worried about you; are you ok? Serious question. You have just as much right to post here and dress your character as anyone else.)

Edit: It looks as though you have a bikini glamour. Some people are offended by this because they have insecurity issues themselves, but it's really nothing you've done wrong. Bikini glamours are popular, especially now we have so much swimming content. Go for it.

That is... rather silly.
And glamour system should not be removed because some few players do not like how others are dressed.
Generally in rl does one call the cops because someone wears short shorts or something?
They were just stupid is all sounds like or felt like harassing someone

You sometimes meet people who just like to be d*cks, but most people don't care for your glamour (and some even give positive feedback!). Don't let people ruin the fun for you just because they made an unnecessary comment about your outfit.

YOU are the one to see your character every day. YOU are the one who should like your glamour - don't listen to other people. Enjoy the game :)

They were just jerks then. I find it to be no big deal, like someone pointed out i often see tanks in such gear or summoners..

Seems like a pretty standard bikini glamour to me. Not really anything to harass anyone over. Honestly if anyone deserves to be banned it's those guys harassing you. They deserve to be reported, at least.

Funnily enough, I've tried that strat myself. I'm still here (even after the storm I unleashed that was the extreme undercutting thread). Your posts aren't banworthy. You won't get banned for it no matter how many reports you send. In all honesty I'm seeing traits of perfectionism in you, like if anything isn't right, you should be banned. Same problems I'm having and am currently receiving therapy for. Hang in there, you can get through this. Also, you're on Cerberus, which is EU datacentre, so if you need me for anything, let me know, I'm willing to come and lend a hand.

As someone who can see what's going on in your mind because it's very similar thoughts to what I have, I am concerned. I don't believe you should be banned, but I do believe some therapy may be in order. It seems to be ingrained into you at a level similar to mine. As a concerned individual trying to talk to you like a friend here, please look into Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. As I am learning, these thoughts aren't healthy. This link will showcase the different unhelpful thinking styles you seem to display at least some of. It's OK, you will get through this.

But seriously, you need to do something about your lack of confidence if possible. Nasty people tend to pick on those who they know have low self esteem already; most of us would laugh off a glamour insult or redirect it to the person being spiteful, but your constant requests for punishment imply you're struggling. It's a long term thing (ISTR telling her off about a similarly silly post about Europeans once or something and it was the same deal). It's not malicious at all, but there are definitely some issues to deal with :(

I think a lot of us struggle with social interaction and an MMORPG kind of brings all of that out into the open.

This is an MMO. It's a social game. People are going to disagree with you from time to time, they may criticize particular things about you, such as play style, personality, or even tastes.

If you have problems with individuals, report them. The worst thing you can do is get on a forum and complain about "people" to other people. We can't do anything to improve your situation, which seems to be the reason that you're here, so you should seek help elsewhere.

As for consoling if you need it then you should ask for it properly. Rather than casting blame at nameless faces, you should take a more constructive approach to it. Just to be clear, making a topic about it in general discussion is more intrusive rather than constructive. There was a topic about the negative experiences of duty finder for people to vent in, I would suggest using that for situations like these.

Take it from someone who has tried it. It won't work. I've lost track of the amount of times I've tried reporting myself to the GMs. Unless there's been a rule breach, which there hasn't (sure, the thread may be a bit ridiculous, but it doesn't break any rules), you're not getting banned. Simple.

Allow me to answer this. If it's anything like what I go through (and her posts seem to signify that it is), it's a feeling of that a mistake is the equivalent of breaking the law and taking a very black and white approach to these things. It's either right or wrong. She also seems to be catastrophising the issues, and not looking at the positives she brings. Tied to low self-esteem and perfectionism.

EDIT2: the PDF linked in my quote of myself lists the "black and white thinking" as "All or nothing thinking", but they mean the same thing. She seems to be using all the unhelpful thinking styles listed in the PDF. Something which I also do.

Agreed. I'm also genuinely worried, and despite my communication issues I have, I am willing to lend an ear. I know what it's like. I've faced it myself (and still do face it). It's not nice at all. Having someone who's been through it themselves and can truly understand may be beneficial. She's not alone. A part of me wants to make a throwaway character on Cerberus and message her asking if everything is OK and what can I do to help.

EDIT3: I've done it, made a throwaway character on Cerb with the same name as this one. I won't use it yet, but if things continue to get worse, I'll step in and use it.

No, look, this isn't constructive and it cannot be good for your emotional health. If you read your past threads it's a litany of examples of you posting things that are either really insecure (e.g. this thread) or probably more antagonistic than you intended (the rudeness in the BR/RU thread - best to ignore that one if you don't understand it). But none of these things deserve a banning. None of these things make you less worthy of enjoying Eorzea than anyone else on this forum. If glamour is something worthy of hate, I'm probably one of the most hated people on this entire forum for my persistent demands for more glamour for my male character. If I felt as anxious and upset about every lunatic who insults me about it as you're feeling whenever you post, I'd never be able to cope. It's ok to feel upset. It's ok to talk. Nobody here replying to you is saying anything especially cruel, when not viewed through a lens of insecurity and worry. Your character is pretty and you've obviously put a lot of time into choosing her look and clothing; anyone who picks on you for that simply isn't worthy of your time.

Tell them to take either a) take a long walk off a short plank, b) get that stick out of their rear end, or c) just tell them you fancied a swim :p In otherwords, blacklist and completely ignore them... and do yourself a huge favour, focus on PaladinLeeds post and the link he posted, I'd also strongly recommend transferring and joining their guild, you need to be with people who understand you and where you feel safe... to the people who get the OP, I could kiss you I really could (don't worry I won't lol)

Agree with this completely, this is a good point... first and foremost get professional help, forums like these aren't good for you if you're not in a good place mentally.... and put individuals on ignore, left-click on name then "add to ignore list".

There was an excellent thread a few weeks ago suggesting an option to turn glamours on or off as a menu option for people who do not like disrupted immersion. I think that seems like the most solid solution to make everyone happy.
