Will the new potd come a patch to late for many players?

What I mean is maybe its just me but Sb is giving extreme exp roulette included. Depending on level each of them can give over 1 million exp, with those whom enjoy leveling everything this makes things so easy. Not to mention the sb dungeons themselves seem to give tons of exp the level sixty five dungeon alone gives over 2 million per run was it this easy at the start of hw to level ? And then we have pvp although its nerfed its such great filler exp and matches generally take less than 15 mins. For me unless I purposely tried to avoid it which is possible I dont see how I wouldn't have all jobs to 70 by the time the next patch with potd comes out.

And looking at my friends list many of them already have at least 3 seventies or more. Id also assume I could very well be wrong but this far into the game if someone has a job at level 0 then more than likely they want be playing that job or dont like it. I know people used potd to get tomes etc but alot used it for leveling with how easy it is to level in sb and how quick pvp is do you think the new palace will be less popular when its initially released , or maybe it should serve other purposes more than leveling?

I ran potd 1-200 several times and I never got any exp out of it, there are enough other rewards to keep ppl interested in it i think

i really wish the new deep dungeon will not give exp at all.

exp speed runners and people who want silver chests and stuff together in the same queue is a nightmare :\
i also hope we will start inside at lvl 70, the whole leveling phase in potd is getting tedious very fast...

Honestly I will probably have all 70s before 4.2(?). just like I had all 60s before 3.2(POTD was 3.4 I believe). So POTD will most likely end up useless again to me :(

I leveled a bunch of my jobs in HW doing fates when they added the crystal drops in each zone for the anima/relic weapon. You could get them on a lower leveled job and there were so many people doing FATEs that it was pretty good if you were in a group.

The new content might help you level but that probably won't be its only function just like PotD has separate rewards other than EXP. Just like I already had all my crafts at 60 when they added the Moogle Beast Tribe even though they are supposed to help you level, moogles also had new crafting mats as rewards. The HW beast tribes also gave scaling EXP based on job you accepted it on so you could use it to level also, but if you didn't need the EXP it gave tomes instead.

Tbh I hope it isn't just PotD with more conditions but a different take on no roles required content.

oh it wouldnt be a problem to have alot of 70s Im just curious if a whole new palace for only leveling up for ten levels is gona be able to be as popular as the one we have now. Materia is a big draw I know and tomes and the weapons outside of leveling was prob the biggest draw. It will be nice to see if the new one will have less focus on leveling and more so on nice rewards and challenges. Because getting from 60 to 70 is so easy I recall the process from 50 to 60 being alot longer but I could be wrong sb seems like it just feeds you exp in comparison to hw.

I feel this has been said ad nauseum, but if you realised that speed-running is the best way for both goals it wouldn't be so bad.

I think there are just more options this time. Since you can get fast queues into PvP/PotD even as DPS. You couldn't level with those before so DPS jobs were stuck waiting in longer queues. During HW they had a problem where the new FATEs didn't give enough EXP due to travel time (wasn't worth it compared to N. Than) so everyone just went to N. Thanalan. After that they buffed the EXP to the new FATEs, and some people went over there. They did eventually buff the dungeon EXP at some point but I forgot when that was, maybe after everyone was doing new buffed EXP FATEs and ignoring dungeons.

This time for FATEs they have the twist of fate/exp bonus thing to encourage doing them over older areas.

I never did POTD for the experience anyway so it won't be too late for me. What I want is:

- Challenge (at least before everyone powers up and facerolls it in full groups).
- Small group/solo content.
- Treasure!
- Cool music.
- Easter eggs like the dead NPCs.
- Not everything being scripted 100%
- Some daft story about why we're going into another deep dungeon.

The harder the better, but the experience grind aspect is irrelevant. If POTD fans want to spoil POTD for themselves by grinding out all of their experience in their advance that's really on them, isn't it?

Yeah I'll have no reason the new PotD. But it's okay, it's there as an alternative to players that weren't quite there when stormblood hit.

This. It needs to be harder than the current POTD, it needs to have awesome treasure(minions/materials/mounts/furnishings for your house; probably not gears though).

Well that is your fault if the only thing you see potd for is exp.

I mean it is pretty boring to me but now Id say pvp is also but sense ive gotten better at pvp lately I can see it becoming more fun. But potd is to repetitive so its extremely boring imo , I never used it to grind tomes, once most of my jobs where leveled the only use for it was materia. Without the weapon and exp Im sure many people would not even touch potd its really not that fun, only a step above diadem.

From my understanding, PotD was not really meant to be all about levelling.
The other rewards were meant to be the draw. It just happened that potd was the most efficient way to level, especially considering queue times were short for DPS compared to regular dungeons.

It just so happened that it became the meta when it comes to levelling so SE kind of banked on that and let it keep going. I presume the focus on the new PotD will be the rewards.

The EXP is what keeps PotD active. If they removed it, a lot of people simply wouldn't queue, especially since you can't go to the higher floors without a premade group. Not that I would trust DF mind you.

Sure about that? You get tomes doing old PotD; no reason to think that won't be the same this time around. It may not end up being your prefered way of getting those tomes, but saying "you'll have no reason" is likely to be false.

This is something that is going to be mutually exclusive. If it is made to be able to be run solo, as PotD is, then it will never be a challenge for a group. If it is made to be a challenge for a group, realistically you will not be able to solo it.

I just wish they would let us start out at floor 100, not floor 50 anymore.

As long as the new POTD is as good for going from 60-70 as the old one is from 1-60 I will be happy. if it doesn't give XP I probably will never touch it. I have classes to level and I dont have time for stuff which doesn't give xp.

Except for the extremely simple fact that the two things are mutually exclusive.

Speedruns focus the bare minimum of rooms and mob kills to find and activate the exit. Clearing extra rooms/mobs to find silver chests or whatever else is completely counter to the point.

People who are there to farm silver chests or whatever else will naturally need to explore every room, which very often leads to floors taking multiple times longer to clear. This runs completely counter to the point of speedrunning.

There really isn't any debate to be had here, the two groups have no common ground and thus you see the endless fighting both ingame and on the forum.

have you tried to clear it solo up to 200 yet? 40m expensive mounts (on my server) with a 5-10% droprate per goldsack and other expensive stuff arent too bad either

No, that is the debate, and what you're saying is just plain not true in experience. You get more chests per hour running it speed-running than slowing down runs checking every possible spot a chest might be (because they're more often not in the rooms you go out of your way to get to).

More runs = more chests. Grabbing the ones directly on your path is much more efficient than making sure you go to every room on a floor. Time is the ultimate resource, etc etc.

Actually this depends on the people you end up with. I got into two runs where they would SKIP silver chests that were right there and just sit at the exit waiting on me while I got them since I needed them to power my gear. So some groups are in such a hurry that they don't want to hit up any chests at all, even if it was RIGHT BESIDE THE EXIT. But they didn't need them so they didn't care about anyone else in the group. *shrugs*

I hope SE fix POTD in other "room/yard" like SB start

Since I hated when South Shroud turn so LAGGY as I try mining or botanist. ALso lag teleport

Anyone who has actually done some form of programming to the point they know it inside out, can tell you that is more than possible to do if they wanted to.

should be careful with that cos I've watched a few people get kicked for doing exactly that when people are trying to do a speed run.

if there is going to be a new potd then the only thing i'd like to happen would be no limitations on df like this is currently. yes random teams can be bad but theres also chances of good teams too.

What part of PotD would you guys like to be harder? To me the punishment for wiping is way too harsh, and limits how challenging square can possibly make a floor. Doesn't matter how challenging and engaging it is, having to restart with 0 progress made is not fun.

Then they can kick me. When you go in as a matched party you should be prepared to get with others who aren't going to speedrun. I see shouts for speedruns in south shroud so if they really want a speedrun they should try a party finder group. But that's just my opinion. :) I just want to get enough to get the kinna weapon and I will be good.

It's definitely coming too late for me, i wasn't expecting it to be so easy to level, but i already have 5/6 of my DoM jobs leveled up, and just have black mage left. After that i don't really care.

Personally I would like something different or a change to some floors that arn't all about "kill X number of mobs till the next floor opens" make us go hunt a switch, do a puzzle or something different. Mobs with 1 hit kills or short enrage timers are not hard, its annoying, more so when they seem to have a habit of spawning or popping up right behind you as you fight another.

I don't pick them up because explosions. But if you're traveling together as a group it shouldn't really matter.

Don't forget that most people are lvling slowly. Few will have all their jobs 70 till it drops so it can be useful.
