The "Hand-out" sacks from Potd.

Please take the Ravana, Mog, and Bismarck weapons out of Potd. Why are weapons 3-5 million to craft while they're 200k on the MB? I'm all for making certain things easier to obtain but this was just ridiculous... At least give out the mats for the weapons instead of the whole weapon itself and lower the drop rate. Trust me, it feels better to have gathered your own mats to craft something yourself or to have someone craft it for out is even great, at least you went on a journey for mats to get what you wanted and you can feel accomplished for it because of the struggle. Potd just hands these thing's out like Halloween candy and they end up worthless, literally WORTHLESS. Not even any good for glamour. Who's gonna care that you have a Ravana Weapon? Or a Bismark weapon? Or a Mog Weapon? They're lunch money on the MB and they're handed out for free at Potd...

.... I care about my sparkly mogfork. Cause I like it. I didn't want to have it because other people DONT have it.
I ask you: why is making them more available bad? Does this make yours look different?

I understand they're a little less special if they're common, but some people just don't have the 5 mil to spend on a weapon and have bad luck with drops.

I think the point he is trying to make is that, the items have a heavy investment to make but can be easily obtained by other means and providing materials to produce rather than obtain a fully crafted item is a better choice; crafters can still provide a service without substantial loss and still give a way for the community players to obtain said item either through commission work from a crafter or buying on the MB for cheaper than before PotD.

Making them more available than the materials needed to make is a problem, which it should be the other way around. At least for some recipes.

Nooope. I'm happy whipping out my sparkly mog fists for pvp and I'm happier that they're so readily available. And I have a sneaking suspicion you're in the minority of disliking it. Welcome to be proven wrong, but the forums are already a very vocal minority.

My EX Ravana gun is still as cool as it ever was. I put in lots of barely finished and FC organized runs to get it. Am i sour now that people can go in and run it unsynched to get the same gun for almost no effort or get handed it just out of some RNG bag? Naw.

Wait, we can obtain those in PotD? Time for me to farm that! :D
I'm fairly sure people made enough gil crafting them back when those were craftable only.
There is no need to make it more difficult now nearly two expansions later for those who can't fish out the millions out of their pockets on a whim.

I was going of the reasoning he gave instead of possible tone. You could be right for point a or b, however I still feel the better way to handle would be choice material drops instead of giving out items crafters have to spend a lot of gil on to make. Either way it doesn't affect me, I happily got the 3 mog weps I wanted from PotD. I still feel the same way on the matter though.

The demand will fall, the mats will get cheaper and the crafters will still make a profit. Or .. the price will fall beyond crystal/cluster costs and crafters will move on to another source of profit. I'm not seeing a downside for anyone but the people who depended solely on huge windfalls from farming/crafting those particular weapons.
I'll always stand by making things more available to all players instead of weighing it in the favor of "hardcore" or "elite" people.

Soooooo making the materials easier to obtain doesn't achieve the same thing while still giving meaning to the crafting recipes? This has nothing to do with hardcore or elite players. Whatever floats your boat though.

Yes, as Lidragora said - My Primary concern is the unbalance it's caused for crafters, the market/economy, and the availability of the weapons. It makes no sense to just give these weapons away, other than to simply make it easy for a certain playerbase to obtain. I mean, if someone's mentality is that they can't focus their attention enough to level a crafter or even to go out and gather mats via a simpler method than farming ex-primals, because apparently, that's too hard as well. They're also not going to care for a sparkly weapon that everyone else and their pet already has, so why give it to them? How am I or anyone else supposed to make a profit from this? And I'm not going to let it go and craft other things, I do that already, I want this to make sense!

If crafters were being commissioned by non-crafters because they got mats instead of weapons, it would make sense. They could have it crafted, or they could buy it from the marketboard. I also mentioned lowering the drop rate in potd, I also think they should nerf the XP gained in Potd or start a leveling mode where certain drops are extremely rare or they can make the weapons dropped in potd untradable. OR they can make a few new extravagant furnishings made by Bismarks Baleen or Ravanas Forewing and we'll new purpose with those items. I'm really bothered by the loot system in potd though and making requests always seems so pointless because they always seem to be "working barely within the server capacity" as it is.

You almost have it right. But I'm all for making it less expensive, as I suggested, giving mats instead of full weapons, or any other alternative way to obtain the item OTHER THAN giving the entire weapon away. The system they have come up with is just horrendous and lazy.

hardcore people spend more time playing: more time to farm mats
Elite people can farm harder encounters: more drops of "hard to get" mats/items

The content has been around for a long time, for a while they were the only way to get those weapons. Now the weapons are much easier to attain. Their time as a "premium" weapon has expired.

I'm failing to see how 3 types of weapons being devalued hurts you so much as a crafter. Yes, you might have lost 3 (ok ok, like.. 30 something different weapons I get it) , likely very lucrative , sources of income. But you don't SPECIALIZE in mog weapons. It's not a job or a class. You're a BSM or a GSM, find another rare thing?

Maybe I don't understand because I don't craft ONLY. But it sounds greedy to forever want something rare just so you can ride that demand.

My intention isn't to sound like an elitist a-hole either, I'd like for everyone to enjoy the game. I haven't even hit level 70 yet. In fact, I haven't played much all year except for some crafting here and there. Certain things like this have caught my eye that are pretty annoying. You know the dev team couldn't have overlooked this, and you know even more so that they must have noticed it's certainly by now and yet... there's just no care in the world to try and rebalance it. Where's the happy medium? Why are those mats even still a thing?

I'd say they're still there because removing that kind of thing would create a whole new problem: someone logs back in with 99% of the mats they had built up to make whatever thing after maybe taking a 2 month break. Decides they wanna make the thing... now those mats are useless.

I really don't have a good answer for the happy medium though. In my eyes it's OK. But then again, like you said you only login to craft and if that's your fun in this game I can see how this would affect you heavily.

From my perspective (I did max out all my crafting/gathering just so I could make things I wanted but don't care if I don't always use those skills) it's just making more fun available to more people. I am sorry it's making less fun for you. You are a rare case though.

But you're right; it is greedy to want something to be rare forever, which giving mats achieves the same thing without devaluing the crafters time as much. Again if you cant see this I dont know what to tell you.

As a side note I only level crafts to have max level crafts. I make my money through other means so this really doesn't affect me at all.

Honestly, if they took the mats out of the game, I'd feel better. I'm irritated there's a mat on the marketboard for 4 million gil that makes a weapon in which only a high level crafter can make that you can also get for free from potd, or for 200k off the MB. Why?

There are a LOT of people in this game with gil, a lot of gil. There's also those players who can't seem to keep their heads above 100k, ever. Why would I talk about balance and expect to upset THAT balance, where parts of the game are only accessible to the filthy rich?I don't want that, that's not what I'm saying at all. Anyone remember how long a Mog weapon sat on the MB pre-HW? WEEKS! I can make over hundred million in a week by selling small things at small prices, trust me, I don't need these weapons to sell at 5 mil to make gil.... What I want to know is why a weapon would cost 6-7 million to craft, when you can get it for free, or for 200k? Why are weapons that cost 6-7 million to craft as common as a level 1 weathered weapon? I mean clearly there aren't a lot of people running bismark or Ravana, why would they?

I see how it would "devalue" the crafters time IF they ONLY farmed those weapons and spent all their time trading in the items that suddenly have become cheap. Otherwise the crafter should move on to more valuable crafts.
EG: Table Orchestrions. In demand, valuable stuff and the mats are farmable. I don't think they drop anywhere either.

Elite/hardcore players (this is not a negative title, just a a classification) will usually control a lot of "rare' items in any given games since it's these people who put those items into the markplace. They have the time/skills/organization to get the mats beyond their current needs and as such will put those mats on whatever market board has been implemented. Current example: Minion Lakshmi and Susano are SUPER expensive right now because you need their EX drops and a high crafting class. However I don't think that control should last forever.

because primal weapons are the only items, that crafters can make

craft the bardings or housing stuff instead, if you think that those weapons arent worth enough anymore
