Scholar Fixes

The Biggest problem I have with this ability is its cost at 10 per tick it is to much and gets wasted a lot with its short range
Fey Union
Increase Potency to 500, increase range to 20y Allow it to be effected by Rouse.
Cost to maintain reduced to 5 instead of 10.

Duration is way to short
Excogitation
Duration increased to 1 min, recast removed or lowered to 5 seconds.

Scholars lack an emergency heal that we can use reliably, this would turn Adlo into one without adding a new skill to scholars
Emergency Tactics Your next Adlo or Succor is a forced crit along with its currect effect. increase recast to 45 seconds

just make it give us stacks, the healing increase sucks as it doesnt effect lustrate or indom
Dissipation
Remove healing increase, remove Killing of fairy, just restores aetherflow stacks.

Great skill just needs a lower CD
Deployment Tactics
Recast lowered from 120 to 60 seconds

Great skill just needs a lower CD
Indomitability
Recast lowered from 30 to 10

Sacred Soil
no longer cost aetherflow stack, recast 60 seconds

Succor
increase potency to 200

Adloquium
Increase potency to 400

Physick
increase potency to 450

Quickened Aetherflow
Gives 2 more aetherflow stacks

Currently Selene is pretty much dead to a lot of scholars, some easy changes to bring her back.

Silent Dawn
changed to increase dmg of party members by 5% for 20 seconds, Does not stack with Fey Wind.

Fey Wind
Increased from 3% to 5%, Does not stack with Silent dawn.

I can get behind all of these honestly, especially the changes to Silent Dawn and Fey Wind which would allow Selene to be competitive and useful again beyond dungeon content.

At this point, it appears Physick, Aldo, and Succor are the yardstick against which SE measures and calibrates everyone else's heals. I would be surprised if they buffed them. It would be more likely for them to scale back some of AST's buffs.

Im not a fan of nerfing other classes really, just buff the other classes up.

Most of these changes would help scholar a ton without breaking them.

You can't have your emergency tactics gives you a 100% crit on adlo and have deployment tactics at 1min.
That would mean scholar could deploy a crit adlo every minute. (especially if you want adlo potency increased to 400)

It is too powerful.

However...since it's now cleary written in adloquium description that a crit doubles the potency of the shield, having to possibly to force the crit "could" be an idea and give scholar back his strongest ability to shield.
But obviously, the CD of such a thing couldn't be low, it would be overpowered.

I agree that Selene should have a little rework but, I don't know, I'm not a big fan of giving her damages boost...
We know how the balance healers currently is.

I'd rather prefer that fairy gain mitigation, since it's scholar primary role and we didn't get any since a long time.
Raw heals are great, you need some, but I choose to play scholar because I liked the mitigation role. But instead, they took off Virus from our toolkit [...]

I may have worded it poorly, But what I'm saying is add the force crit to the current ability, this would trigger a heal not a shield.

your next Adlo or Succor is a crit +Transforms the next Galvanize status into HP recovery equaling the amount of damage reduction intended for the barrier.

Posted in another thread. The change to dissipaton, creating a fairy swap that interacts with fey union, which has different effects with either fairy would enhance synergy extremely. Eos stays her powerful aoe support self and selene becomes more single target. Selene would not increase damage, because if she did, DPS would expect it over the tank at all times and Eos would never be used for fey union. Shortened list to what i feel would have the most impact.

Imagine having Selene out, to increase dps of the raid. Large AoE is coming. Dissipation! Burn Aetherflow. Energy Drain. Energy Drain. Adlo spread. Sacred Soil. 60 gauge filled. Instant Summon Eos. Dissipation falls off. Massive AoE about to hit. Fey union Eos to make her a pulsing 200 potency heal, while increasing the healing potency of your coheal. You used multiple cool downs together to create a powerful effect.

Does that not just scream tactician? Scholar?

Dissipation I don't know why people want the healing % to stay it is pointless...it only effects Physick, Adlo, and succor its the same reason why Largesse is just a MEH cooldown. Now if it effected Lustrate or indom that would be great, but that isn't going to happen.


I would love for these changes to fey union but again they have made it clear they don't want the fairy healing as much as pre Stormblood, so no way this will happen.:(

Um? Xygoz's Emergency Tactics + Adlo would just be a large heal, same as it is now except with the guaranteed crit for consistency. Deployment Tactics after that would do nothing, because there's nothing to deploy.

Deployment tactics only works on shields...when emergency tactics is used Galvanize isn't a buff that goes on the target its just a heal.

It would be stupidly OP, unless you make it 3 to 5 minute cooldown. Remember that you can always use largesse to increase the potency. A guarante crit shield should have at least 3 min cooldown or should share CD with Deployment.

Nah it giving crit shields is meh, I like the concept of it converting shields to heals, making it a free crit but still has the same effect otherwise would be super strong and potent already. Makes it into a 900 potency heal and you can slap a lustrate over it for 1500 potency. That alone is an insane amount of single target healing for basically 1 gcd

This would give us an even better 700 potency +regen aoe heal bomb than we have already as well

At the 1000/1000/(2000) numbers it would be, but that's not what the actual potencies are. Adlo is 300/300, which makes the base heal from it under Emergency Tactics into 600. This is equivalent to Lustrate, and is actually still lower than Cure II/Benefic II. Crit multiplier is 1.4 (I believe), so giving Emergency Tactics a guaranteed crit effect bring it up to 840, which is reasonable on a 30sec CD, especially because it would still be tied to Adlo's MP cost.

After typing that I realized that the crit multiplier on Adlo's shield translating to healing probably would be OP, as that would make it a 1260 potency heal every 30 seconds, but that could be worked around by just saying that Emergency Tactics isn't a true crit, but is instead a direct multiplier.

EDIT: And after typing that I realized that HW Essential Dignity was a free (conditional) 1000 potency heal on a 40sec CD, so maybe actually not that OP after all.

Aldo's mp cost would still be super high so it would still be fine, if someone mp's out becuase they did an adlo every 30 seconds for no reason then they are just bad tbh

The 30 sec cooldown typically will let you handle aoe heals and tank buster heals if needed as well as they tend to be that spaced apart, though in a group of 8 succor healing isn't usually needed outside of rare hyper potent boss aoe spam in progression content

You just made sch heal more then a whm and buffs stronger then a ast.

Do you even play SCH? SCH are the kings of emergency heals. If you don't have an emergency heal that can be used reliably it's because you mismanaged and you should be punished. AST only has 1 emergency heal ONLY 1 every 40 seconds. SCH has 3 every 60 seconds and can even be AoE. Don't tell me you don't have them because I'm going to answer you, get good.

And if you have 0 emergency heals, there's a skill called dissipation that grants you 3 more stacks. That's the moment when you kill the fairy.

BTW half of your buffs are broken.

Lustrate would be amazing emergency heal if we had a true Cure II, but we don't. We have what is basically 3 Cure IIs every minute, give or take Dissipation and Quickened Aetherflow procs. And, this is assuming you don't need the Aetherflow for literally anything else. SCH has never been more Aetherflow hungry because our heals are weak and expensive and the fairy heals for even less than ever. SCH's can't as easily recover from a setback like WHM and AST can. WHM now has a ton of oGCD heals, and AST got a few extra in the expansion, one of which is from their card mechanic. SCH has to jump through a lot more hoops just to do what the other two can do easily, and there's not that much payoff for doing so.

When you say whm has more ogcd are you counting the fact you can use 9 atherflow stacks at start of a fight?
All 3 of your fairy skills AND your skills?cuz to me seems like sch has more ogcd and if you want to be really technical embrace is a ogcd......

Ok, first of all, Lustrate is not an emergency heal. At 600 potency, it is weaker than the secondary heals WHM and AST get at Lv30 and Lv26 respectively, and is additionally gated behind Aetherflow's limited stacks. SCH doesn't currently have an emergency heal, unless you count gambling on a Emergency Tactics + Critlo.

Second, if you're going to quote me, please actually quote me, instead of putting in new random points I wasn't trying to make in the first place that you can then "counter"

I would actually argue that emergency heals are the only thing SCH has an advantage on at this point. AST and WHM have Essential and Tetra, but generally they will utilise those outside of emergency situations for more GCD effeciency. Lustrate is different because it's gated by Aetherflow, we generally manage our stacks and so we have it at our disposal to actually use for emergencies. That and we can potentially have multiple uses at one given time. It may only be 600 potency, but in most situations that will be enough to rescue a situation and then act appropriately.

And while Assize/Earthly Star may be overall better moves, Indom is still strongest at being the best emergency AoE heal. Better potency than Assize, and doesn't require placing/clicking like Earthly Star

Edit: Also, ET + Adlo would never be considered an emergency heal, even if it crits. Emergency buttons don't need to replicate Benediction and heal a huge amount, it just needs to save a member from death. Generally that means it will have to be an instant move with a decent enough potency to keep someone alive. Lustrate fits this perfectly.

SCH specialize in planned heals. The limited nature of Aetherflow tends to mean that in an emergency situation with a SCH, one of 4 things happens.

The fight was not planned to need a large heal from the SCH at this point, and no Aetherflow are avalible. Wipe.
The group took unplanned damage and an Indom was used. We now likely don't have Indom available for the next unavoidable raid-wide. Wipe.
The tank took unplanned damage and requires extra Lustrates. We are now unable to use the Indom needed for the upcoming mechanic. Wipe.
The tank took unplanned damage and requires extra Lustrates. We are now unable to use the Energy Drains we're counting on for MP, and run dry at a crucial section of the fight. This is somewhat less likely to cause a wipe, but does leave the SCH feeling miserable for the entire rest of the pull.

3 uses of a resource per minute just does not allow anything that requires that resource to reasonably be an emergency heal.

As a whm I'd like to say benediction isn't a emergency heal...

Benediction has a LONG delay that the mob or a dot tick can go off before they get the heal and on top of that it has long cd and most time I end up healing myself with it when I have full hp cuz the person I wanted to use it on died in mid animation.

I'm a little confused now, part of your post talks about raid-wide damage, and then you talk about the "rest of the pull", so are we talking raids or dungeons here? Because SCH functions quite differently in both.

In any case, your first point should be irrelevant because any good SCH will keep an AF stack until they are at least close to getting another AF cast.

Your next two points seem to be in a raid scenario, so you'll have a co-healer who should generally be doing most of the healing anyway. They should also be competent enough to know that you have had to resort to emergency heals, and communication would also solve the problem of topping people off before a raid-wide mechanic. Also you should be prepared for that with a deployed Adlo or Succor anyway, not an Indom.

Your last point seems to be dungeon based. Yeah it is a little more rough for SCH, but as of now there really isn't any reason for anyone to go OOM unless they're mindlessly spamming Adlos. And if your tank is pulling too much for you to handle, communication!

Regardless of all these scenarios, it doesn't change that Lustrate and Indom are great emergency buttons. In fact, you state yourself that you used Lustrate in these scenarios when unplanned damage occurs, so have you not just contradicted yourself?

I really like this fix for dissipation, sadly, we'll never see any of this. I doubt we see any love for many, many patches. Probably best to just level up AST or WHM at this point. SCH is broken.

How is sch broken? Sch is better in raids and whm is better in dungeons. Sch has a dps buff your spot is cemented in raid groups. And before you say "whm has highest personal dps" true but whm is not going out dps 6 other people.

It wouldn't be op at all, i said put it on a 40 seconds CD same as ES on astro heck give it a 1 min if you feel its still op. Scholars healing kit right now is terrible compared to the other 2 healers leting them have a big heal isn't going to break anything.

By emergency heal your mean lustrate? a 600 pot heal that both the other healers have that they can spam LAWL, sorry that was funny!

I do play scholar I have also cleared all the current content in the game atm, if you think being able to cast 3 cure 2's every 60 seconds Is great then you have not played any of the other classes.
As far as Dissipation you killing your fairy for 3 stacks sounds great on paper untill you realize it hurts you more then just not having stacks lol. you just killed a nice chunck of your healing for 3 more cure 2's ! Grats!!!

Can you be more specific? none of the potency increase beat WHM heals values nor are we getting any more healing ability's, if your think having more lustrates is op then just look at cure 2 is there a limit how often you can cast it?

Let's throw some light on CHAIN STRATAGEM (CS). The skill debuffs ONE target so it has 15% increased received crit rate. Crit rate ONLY translates directly into raw damage rating if these conditions are met:

1-Crit hits are twice as powerful as normal hits.
2-Base critical hit rating is 0%.

Explanation on 2: Let's say you normal hit for 1k, and you critically hit for 2k. If you hit for 100 normal hits (0% crit rate), you get 100k damage. With CS you hit for 85 normal hits and 15 crit hits, that's 115k damage (95x1k+15x2k). Your gain is 15k/100k=15%. Now consider your base crit rate is 30%. Without CS your damage is 130k (70x1k+30x2k). When CS is applied, your damage increases to 145k (55x1k+45x2k). Damage gain is 15k/130k = 11,54%. This is called DIMINISHING RETURN.

Back to CS duration and CD, utopically you can have 12,5% uptime (15sec out of 120sec). I type UTOPICALLY because it's unwise to use the debuff on CD, since there are phases when you can't deal damage to the boss (boss invulnerable, damage required on adds, transition phases, heavy movement,...)

I don't know the exact crit rate->%crit translation, but at current gear level we can assume around 15% critical rate (the lower, the more damage increase from CS -diminishing return-), and critical hits being around 65% extra damage.

With all these hypothesis, the calculations are like follows:

15% crit rate, 12,5% uptime -> 1,875% increased crit rate for the whole combat (UTOPICAL as I explained before).
1,875% crit rate increase for 15% crit rate base -> 1,06% damage increase (65% x (1,875%/1,15))

So, taking into consideration the real combat circumstances (not 12,5% uptime) and players in your party above 15% critical hit rate, you get a tiny +1% increased damage for the whole party (probably less tan that).

And as some other have posted in this and other forum threads, WHM damage is higher tan SCH damage (besides WHM heals for more and have more time to dps). Sincerely, I doubt bringing an SCH to the raid increases overall damage output.

Basically Sch isn't broken because they threw Sch a bandaid? Sch minus chain stratagem would NEVER be invited to a raid over a White mage. The only reason it's invited to raids is because they decided to throw the class a raid buff spell. Let's not pretend that Scholar is in a great place because they put lipstick on a pig.

The only reason it's invited to raids is because they decided to throw the class a raid buff spell. Let's not pretend that Scholar is in a great place because they put lipstick on a pig.

How come all the top parses of the current ex primals are AST/SCH? Because SCH is still a very strong healer and the added Chain Strategem made it even more valuable to a raid team.
Besides that, if you are a good healer (regardless of job) you won't have to worry about your raid spot.

A strong healer that's doing nearly 50% less healing than the Ast in all of those parties?

Chain Stratagem isn't a strong healer. It's a strong enough healer for when solo Ast isn't enough.

If they gave Whm Chain Stratagem instead of Sch I'm pretty sure all of those comps would immediately switch to Whm/Ast instead.

The reason Sch is invited to all those trial fights isn't because of their healer as much as Chain Stratagem > Whm DPS, because DPS is largely all they look for in an offhealer.

You actually made me look through the parses of Susano and Lakshmi, most of the parses have a healing distribution of ~55% AST ~45% SCH. I looked at my own parses and they usually are close to 50/50 spread too (WHM/SCH).

If you want a really good group you will mostly balance out the healing between both of the healers to use their CDs to their best, you can see these in the top parses too.

Does WHM allow you to ignore mechanics with (spread) Adlo? No. Does WHM have reliable groupwide mitigation for every big raidwide damage (Fey Covenenant, Sacred Soil)? No. Does WHM have a constant healing pet that requires 0 MP and 0 GCDs from its owner? No. SCH brings so much unique utility, not even including Chain Strategem. Their healing kit didn't change all that much since HW (except the loss of Virus) and it's still as strong as ever.

Now I sincerely hope the character you have set on the OF is an alt. You don't even have a single healer at 70, AST even only at 30. You don't have a single Coil, Alex Savage or HW/SB primal achievement. Please tell me exactly why and where you think SCH is so much weaker than WHM? Preferably with some real examples and not just "WHM does more DPS on a dummy" and tell me why the current top parses aren't reflecting the fact that WHM is supposed to be better than SCH.

I looked at a good number as well and they all fell into 40/60 to 45/55.

A 40/60 spread is in fact +50% more healing.

You mean besides the fact that they took a baseball bat to both Aldoquiem, the Fairy, and Scholar's MP regeneration? Like, all the things that made Scholar amazing in HW...

Does Whm let you ignore mechanics with shields? Of course not, because Whm doesn't have shields and the other healer, either Sch or Ast will provide those shields. The only problem being that Ast's shield is not only cheaper than Scholar's shield, but when they both crit are actually about equal strength (and Ast's murder's Sch when they don't crit.)

Does Whm have groupwide mitigation? No, they just have AoE regens galore and Cure III. I'll tell you a secret about Sacred Soil, it's pointless unless people are in danger of being 1 shotted and that extra 10% DR saves someone because an Indom will heal a heck of a lot more HP after the AoE than a Soil wouild have prevented. So let's rephrase this question...does Whm have amazing AoE healing because Scholar will be using their stacks on Indom instead of Sacred Soil 99% of the time....oh yeah.

Does Whm have healing that requires 0 MP and 0 GCDs? Benediction, Tetra, Assize, Assylum, ect... Let's ask a better question? Does Scholar have a Cure II? Can Scholar cast that Cure II for free every so often? Can Scholar cast a free Stoneskin after that Cure II. Oh right, Scholars are stuck spamming Physic...
