Can SE PLEASE do something about this PLEASE this becoming like WoW PvP again :(
Outside removing any reward from losing and ban bots there is nothing they can do.
watched my g/f run several frontline maps.. never saw a botter on any team.
why do people cry bot so much in pvp?
The easiest solution is remove all rewards, problem solved and PvPers will be happy again.
There are definitely bots in frontlines. At least yesterday while I was playing I noticed quite a few people (probably about half or so of the alliance) doing some really janky movements. They would all stop facing the same direction, and would move all in unison a second or two later. I only noticed it once or twice in the match, so its not super apparent otherwise. That being said, the games I have played with Bots generally go better then the games I play with real people unfortunately.
The obvious solution would be "ban bots".
Even if they do it only occasionally, it would at least stir up fear and make people reluctant to try it if they know they'll actually take action against them at times.
I played PVP all day yesterday, not once did I see a bot.
I've seen this in a few matches myself... whole flocks of people (5-10) just seem to randomly stop in the middle of nowhere, no chat or anything, then they all slowly turn a 30 seconds to 1 minute later and ride off in another direction...
After some things I learned recently about how rampant actual botting really is through various programs (don't want to name anything specific beyond saying people like their "minion") it does not seem far fetched that a number of people are essentially using a program to mindlessly level their characters through PvP...
This needs to come to an end SE, please look into stopping these minions from degrading the quality experience of people who actually bother to sit at their computer and actively play the game.
Even the worst player would react when being attacked. I've seen bots insist on attacking ice in Shatter while I just go to town on them. Then come back just to get wiped out again. Then AGAIN.
I've seen them jump off a cliff rather than fight me, I've seen a MCH bot put out a Bishop turret in the process of me firing an LB at them (this is back when they still had a cast time for physical ranged) - NO MCH player would do something that brainless.
There are DEFINITELY bots, and the people using them aren't even clever about trying to hide it.
I think you'd be surprised how bad people can be, either in a particular moment or in general.
People are quick to call random people a bot for failing to meet some arbitrary requirement of minimum competence. I see little actual evidence though, just incredulity.
Oh, there are bots. And I can tell, less so by how bad a player they are, but rather by the behavior the character exhibits.
One perfect example is when a group is moving in one direction and seemingly just -stop- and stay in place without moving. And I don't mean like holding position and making a stand, I mean they literally move into a position and just stop moving on the spot, some times facing walls and what-not.
It's difficult to explain, you'd have to see it, the pattern is there. It's so obvious that it hurts.
I've never really seen bots in PVP.
AFKers yes, and as soon as I call them out in party or alliance chat, they come up with some excuse for their AFKing. I will just kick you if I see you running in circles or hiding in a corner. I have zero patience for people who try to leech free XP.
Try playing as Immortal Flame lol they follow as pattern from spawn > base and hangs around for first big crystal or enemy player (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JHb1Ga_rf4)
there have been a few actual "Bots". the person just runs head on into the enemy on a mount never dismounting and getting killed and just lays there or respawns and does it again.
Frankly the best SE has allowed us at this point is to simply report and move on, which as we all know is a janky sort of system that often takes months to even see any results. They really need more man power to expedite the process before we'll see any real change outside of outright removing the exp gained. Which, honestly, would be a shame in my opinion because it's that exp boost that drew me back to frontlines in the first place. If it ends up being that they remove it I'll still PVP, but right now it's a far more fun alternative to PoTD or brainless dungeons.
Without PvP i would never clean the bathroom.
The toilet would eventually get so crusty no chemical on earth could eat through it.
I literally depend on PvP to be a functioning human being.
please don't take it from me.
Or else i will be chained to this couch grinding so long that eventually...

You're joking right? At least a normal person would be like "omg i'm being hit ahhhh" and S key or run away or something if you honestly can just say that this persons bad and not notice the particular movements and the questionable moving and stopping of said people then you're blissfully ignorant. Seriously just go into Shatter, find a large group of people and watch their movements, as soon as ice spawns they move immediately and ignore everything even while being beaten to death on their mount just to run and get the ice.
I even saw 2 people drop 2 caster LBs on a group of 12 people and they just stood there, took both of em, and sat there to be slaughtered, our team got 2 battle highs and 2 battle fevers out of that but it's just bad players right? Gotta go AFK and get that EXP right? What a joke people never cared about PvP until the EXP was introduced and now can't even see bots what's next people won't believe that Garuda can fall from the sky?
If you remove rewards on loss then PvP dies when people get on losing streaks and stop queuing altogether to do more rewarding things with their time. There aren't enough people who frequent PvP for fun alone instead of using their time on content that enables them to progress in some way reliably. So you need rewards for the health of the game.
The banning bots thing is the ultimate solution to bots, and it's not only PvP they ruin but pretty much everything else too, including gathering / gil farming bots which can be used for RMT reasons.
I just don't understand the point of exp half AFKing. Wouldn't it be better to enjoy the process of getting your exp? I hate to say it, but SE made a good thing, and people abused it. I honestly love it for when I have a tiny bit of leveling, but don't feel committed to doing a whole dungeon. Unfortunately, I think SE might have no choice but to nerf the exp, make it a punishable offense, or make the exp vary by placement. It's disheartening, because horizonal progression is what this game needs more of, and players are ruining it. It's even sadder that we beg for something, and then disrespect the developers when they graciously give it. If I were them, I'd be wary about who they listen to at this point.
Were this game Horiztonal i would be committed to putting in an effort,
because the grind would actually mean something.
As things stand, each new patch just introduces countless hours of grinding
for things that will be worthless next month.
I've got no time or interest in that.
It's a double edged sword. Players have become so vigilent to kicking anyone who appears AFK (good!) that these shitty players reduced themselves to botting.
I've very rarely seen either, but people are so unrelenting that it's more likely I've not noticed it first.
Don't need to bot to ruin PvP. This is from gamefaqs forum

If something can be exploited, it will be exploited. And absense of any bans only encourages such behaviour.
Exactly. There is a reason why they put all the mounts, minions and other rewards behind PVP. People need an incentive to play it. PVP can be really frustrating, especially Frontline. Getting at least something out of it, even if you lose, makes it a bit better. If only winners will get something you will have the following situation: Big toxicity in chat because if you dont win, you just wasted your time. This will probably scare away any new people and probably lots of older ones. (There is a reason why we dont have chat in Feast anymore..) Also with three teams, even if you have a good team, there is still a quite big chance to lose. So you will punish the majority of the PVP players. This in turn makes the game mode utterly useless for most people.
If only a really small amount of people play this mode then SE might not even make something new for it. Thus in the end its even a loss for the hardcore pvp players. Having bots in this mode but at the same time more players playing it, might be better for SE than barely anyone playing it. Because it needs to be worth all the time and budget that is used for this.
I find it funny that the influx of botters in pvp is in line with the timing of pvp xp being adjusted so that you have to win in order to get decent xp.
Its like, since these people know they wont get good xp so they would rather have a program do it for them while they go watch a movie or do something else. Rather then try to enjoy pvp knowing they will still get something decent win or lose.
Consideration for PvP in a nutshell. "Bah, that's just PvP, doesn't matter much right? Those peasans should be glad that SE throw a bone to them from time to time"
Boting is not a necessary evil, it's a cancer and a mmo killer. Crafters hate them for a good reason.
This particulary astonishing how people defend a broken rewarding system just because "muh pvp", while "horror stories from duty finder" posts get tons of reply, along with all the critics on jump potion players and PotD lvl'd players. More than ever, pvp doesn't teach you how to play your job.
If SE wants to bring PvE rewards in pve, idc because that doesn't change anything for me. But 1st, only in a system that actually reward people for their efforts (like it has already been said plenty of time, with healing/dmg done), and 2nd, it needs to bring rewards that are valuable in PvP, but both of those points need a deep rework, and that can take time. Even the most casual pvper has his wolf marks capped, which is only for glamour.
This could easily just be latency though. And Frontlines has A LOT of Latency issues. Like have you ever noticed when queueing for a dungeon, you stand there alone for a second, then the rest all pop in at the same exact time? That's not them all coming in at the same time, rather your internet getting that package at once.
I kinda wish they would try this:
Standardize the xp regardless of win or loss. Set personal performance level check points and attach a rating (Bronze/Silver/Gold) to those check points. The more high ratings you have the bigger an xp bonus you get at the end for yourself. That way trying gets you more xp then the guy who decided to AFK, but you wont be punished if your team loses because of circumstances beyond your control.
