[Clarification request] Accessories role locked in 4.0, will it affect current gear?

In the live letter it was mentioned that tanks would only be able to use role appropriate accessories. It sounded like this rule would apply to all jobs. Will current accessories from ARR and HW be changed so they can no longer be equipped by all jobs?

I am worried that old accessories we currently use for glamours on any job will suddenly become unusable.
Please help us make sure that doesn't happen! :eek:

Yes it will affect current gear. But currently accessories arent glamour locked, so maybe that will stay the same.

Well for example i250 accessories like Scintillant Ring of Casting are role locked to DoW&DoM. Glamour one of those on to something else and then equip it on a crafting class. It says Glamours are unavailable due to equipment restrictions.

If they role lock current ARR and HW gear, suddenly many of our current glamours using those old accessories will stop working on most DoW&DoM and all DoH&DoL jobs! :mad: :eek: Such as all the different colored Allagan and High Allagan accessories.

I really like those allegan accessories...

And if this change is retroactive, then people wouldn't be able to use whichever color they want unless it was the color for that specific jobstat...

They aren't glamour locked because they aren't class locked... Glamour depends entirely on your job being able to wear it...

This is something I'd also like to know.

The Garo accessories are from this limited time event and I happened to buy the Vitality ones. I'd prefer the Mind ones if they are locked. I don't mind doing the extra grinding, I just need to know if I should.

Although the Garo event is time limited, it'll still be around after Stormblood launches, so you should have a definitive answer with plenty of time to take action on it:

If I'm not wrong, Garo acessories are pvp gear right?

If they are, then don't worry, they said now, pvp gear will only be for glamour.
So I don't think this should hurt pvp accessories if it doesn't have stat anymore :)

I'm worried about the allagan accessories for glamour too. I like wearing the yellow ones on my healer. :(

I'm sure there will be other accessories, but I don't think they would look as nice as these with this outfit. :/

I'm glad my main go to accessories are level 1 glamour ones, if they do make sets like the high allagan accessories role locked hopefully they will make craftable glamour ones at least

At this point any current gear it's obsolete so I don't see why SE would put this new restriction to any "old" ACC. Also, for new ACC all they need to do is let DOH craft a version without stats usable for anyone (new glamour book with said recipes). At least that is what I would do to not mess with player glamours.

maybe ilvl 270 str accerssories are BiS for tanks in 4.0 when they don't put any restrictions on it? it would take a while until the ilvl increases that much that the secondary stats alone can outweight the mainstats on the i270 stuff.

Perhaps, or perhaps a tank without enough Vit/Tenacity will be obliterated because the damage done by bosses is increased like a lot (not likely). Also, they can do something similar to Blizzard and at lvl 70 that gear no longer gives any benefits (for WoW was legendary procs not working after a certain level).

Anyway SE has multiple ways to do this without impacting in negative ways players that enjoy glamour.

I made a thread in the Items section calling attention to the glamour problem. Hopefully the dev team notices or thinks of these things before launch so we don't have go 6 months without glamours waiting on a fix.

Instead of just 1 Necklace, since all of these 3 classes use Speed as main stat..? <.<

No, but for example "of slaying" will be only for MNK/SAM/DRG.

Dyeable accesories may be a solution.

I use the lore casting accesories with my SCH as glamour, but if they are going to block the accesories to each role, make them dyeable seems like a good solution, I wonder why this isn't an option yet.

No, but in case you're unaware you can still unequip a "Ranged" accessory on a healer or anything else because they aren't actually restricted - that won't be the case anymore. Ranged accessories will be MCH/BRD/NIN only instead of All Classes.

I really hope glamour acc are not locked with the new restriction...I personally only use the emperor stuff because I don't care for acc glamour, but so many people do so this would be a terrible limitation if implemented.

Well...as much as I want to support this completely, we need to consider the new fashions that will be available that we know nothing about...

That said, glam templates for obtained accessories, much like is used with Relics and their replicas, would be an acceptable solution.

Things tend to dye ugly compared to their natural colors and accents, so this not a solution that would make us happy if we lost accessory glamours we've been using. :(

...I forget some people like to glamour accessories sometimes.

I don't think they would need to take the time and go back to restrict old accessories. Probably just start doing it on the 4.0 ones.

It will be mainstat locked

- tank (Vit)
- healer (MND)
- caster (INT)
- melee DPS (STR)
- ranged DPS + Ninja (DEX)

I'd say people have no reason to worry about this. None of the current gear is going to change aside from SAM/RDM being added to what jobs can equip what gear. Going forwards, NEW gear in SB will be role locked. No one's current glamours should be affected, and tanks wearing current slaying accessories aren't going to log in on the 16th and suddenly find they can't equip their accessories. As a side note, I really hope we can convince the dev team to not role lock the vit accessories. Those can sometimes come in handy to other jobs needing a HP boost

Instead of scrap the idea and say no, why not ask for a better system?
We all now the actual dye system is crap, you should be asking for an improvement instead of ask for something SE doesn't care about, but they don't care about anything, so whatever I guess.

People need to see further than their nose.

I doubt they will change retroactively... it would be dev time wasted imo.

For those who are starting 14 brand new ... will understand that you just need the tank equipment ... if you want to play the tank job. It doesn't make it complicated they don't have to worry about certain accessories not providing sufficient sort of boost ...

Hard to read this any way other than they are role restricting old gear, and possibly taking away our glamours as a result.
