If you have a card from a raid, you should only be allowed to roll greed

I'm mostly bringing this up, because there are still many people that complain about getting the cards. Earlier today I won a Diabolos Hollow card with a 95.....only to realize I already had one, and that I out-rolled someone else who had a 94.

I'm suggesting that with cards that are only given out in 24 man raid stuff, if you already have the card registered, you should ONLY be allowed to roll greed, so other people have a better chance of getting something for their collection.

Another reason being that pretty soon the current three towers will become like CT/ST/WoD, only to possibly be done again when the next relic stuff is out in 4.X and we potentially need items that we can get by doing one of each of the old towers per week.

Would people be against the reasoning of making the cards PART of the weekly quests/ect for the towers? Or in a quest of their own do be done like that once a week?

Right now we have the weekly quest for the current relic where by doing each of the old towers once each, you get an aether oil.

And right now by doing dun scaith you get an item to trade in for a single ilvl 270 accessory, or that armour that's only good for glamour.

Would people be against adding a quest/a few quests to said places so people will not have to miss out on cards they need, AND people who don't need them/only care about the MGP can do them as they please? This of course would remove the fact that you could have a 'chance' of getting the card from the raid instance, but you would 100% be sure that you would get the card.

Older cards from this kind of stuff can get harder and harder to get a group to do, but something like this, I believe would give some people more of a reason to go back to do these.

Better yet, just make it so that if someone is in the raid they have a chance of obtaining the card once the final boss is defeated as part of the personal loot system. That would align well with the drop chance for most other cards tied to PvE content and it'd be less frustrating than losing out week after week because you're usually competing against twenty three other players to roll the higher number.

Still, I wouldn't oppose you own idea - that would make things less annoying as well.

Cards in those 24 man raids used to have a chance to drop directly into your inventory (and in the ARR-raids its still like that). They changed that with VA - the Echidna-card used to be a direct drop and turned into chest-loot.
No idea why they changed it though...

The addition of disabeling you from rolling need in case you already have the card sounds pretty good to me - so, yes please!

This would be nice. I often forget if I have the card myself, it would be nice to have something that tells me, "no need to roll, mate, you've already got it!"

After seeing title, I thought this was going to be about getting Balances.

Being able to roll Greed is fine since you can at least use the leftover cards when everyone has theirs, whereas extra mounts just end up being discarded. Very sensible suggestion; the stress of not being able to tell whether you already have rare one-time-use items makes the loot system in this game a pain sometimes.

I want any free MGP I can get, so I will always roll need. Fight me.

No it should not, they should revert it to the personal loot system used in literally every other duty with cards, those cards are worth quite a bit of MGP so there's no reason why they should be unobtainable if you already have one.

While I agree it would be nice to give people priority who haven't obtained the card, this doesn't stop people continuously rolling need and selling the card before obtaining it and even worse, priority in the situation where no-one needed the card. At the end of the day every run you have at worst a 3/24 (1/8) chance of getting the card, try to be patient and you'll get it before long.

TT cards to me are the same as the gear I can sell for seals. Will sell them for MGP if already in deck.

The flaw with thay request is that someone could then exploit that system by never using the card once received, selling it for MGP, and then be able to keep on rolling need because they technically don't have the card because they never used it.

Maybe a notification when rolling on the card pointing out you already have it? Something obvious in the pop up description? That would keep the loot rolling fair and make players aware of already having the card if they would rather someone else receive it.

Well, they still drop from the personal loot system. I got an Echidna card although I never rolled on one, or at least the Echidna one works that way. Though I can see the issue of if everyone has a card, then the cards are worthless cuz no one can lot on them.

It's not selfish per say, as thats how it works. But it is detrimental to thoese seeking for collection.

The same argument can be made for gear, raid tokens, crafting mats and pretty much any loot that people have to vie over - And the solution in all cases is simple: Personalized loot.
Alternative: Tokens to buy the loot from a vendor.
Either way, the desires of one person no longer compete with the desires of another, thus neither can hinder the other. Thus, the problem gets solved in a simple and effective manner.

RNG loot distribution is a long outdated concept anyway, only one step away from the early days of being able to take everything directly from the corpse (When ninja looting was a real thing). It's about time it dies the death it deserves to more progressive systems.

As someone who has yet to get that Diabolos card and who lost 2 of them on the same raid with rolls of 97 and 94, I fully agree with the OP. There are many ways to make MGP without rolling on something someone else might actually want just because it will give you a couple of hundred points.

I wish the card would get added at random in your inventory instead, like they used to do.

To be honest, I roll need because I don't even remember what cards I have, and I know it is likely everyone rolled need, so will participate the loot.
Then if already in deck I'll sell it.

But not for greedy or trolling who relly needs it, it is simply I like improve my deck but I'm not so much into it to remember all and every card I have. Hell, I don't even know if a card is really rare or not. I just like play TT every now and then.

Since they boosted the MGP on cards it's a nice way to pocket some extra treasure. So in a way it can be a need. It's not like anyone says anything about it in game anyways -.-. ***HINT***If you NEED it say something people can't read your mind.

Dungeon gear is a completely different story... You are nearly always uncontested for your NEED rolls in a dungeon. Roll priority is also specific to the class so if you actually want gear to use then you can force a priority by playing that class..

Non-specific items such as cards and mounts are a different ball game entirely...

Because we can exchange cards for MGP. People would then be able to buy MGP via gil instead of doing what was intended (GS related stuff) to earn them.

Or setting them to personal loot like other cards dropped. Which resolves the argument entirely and the system itself is the same across the board.

Edit: There shouldn't be a guaranteed # of cards dropped from a Raid anyway. Defeats the whole point of "Card Rarity" and collecting.

That would be stupid. Why should I have to leave behind 1,500 MGP just because I already have it? I'm fine with the OP's suggestion or the random personal loot method like most other cards, but what you're suggesting is just a straight up nerf for everyone.

They should go back to the former system. Just let it randomly drop in your inventory. I'm a card collector myself and I have already completed all my TT collection. I really disliked this system because, even though it's a guaranteed drop, having to roll against the whole alliance is a pain in the butt. It felt more rewarding when it was just like an Atma.

Then it would make the problem this thread talks about even worse. People would still roll on cards just to sell them for gil instead of MGP. Also, TT is suposed to be a mini game for you to collect and earn your cards through effort. Cards have different 'stats' and actually affect the tournaments, so you could buy your way up there to get extra MGP from the reward. Same way as gear isn't tradeable.

No? That would still get people to be selling MGP to other players. Cards can stack. So if you manage to get a full stack of cards, you could sell X amount of MGP for Y amount of Gil.

MGP is a lot easier to get than some of the cards, even more so when you have a super low chance of getting a card you don't yet have because of people going 'I need MGP who cares about people who actually need it'.

So personally, I don't see the 'need' for MGP to be as important as people trying to collect items they actually need, and getting blocked off by people who already have it. This used to happen when horse farming, where people could actually roll on another whistle when they already had one. I reported many people at the time who even said in the chat 'Oh I only rolled cause I could lol', in which this kept happening up until you could no longer roll for what you already had.

People should not be prevented from getting what they're trying to get by people who already have the same item.

Crappy 4 star cards for EVERYONE.

Change it back how it was and give everyone the chance to get it randomly into the inventoy without rolling for it.

I'm not sure I understand.

With my idea, say I win a card from VA for example. I sell that card for gil to another player, that player can't do anything but use it to add to his collection or trash it. That's what I mean by "after its traded." The player can't even go the gold saucer vendor to exchange it for mgp.

Am I missing something here?

EDIT: is it about spending mgp to buy cards to resell for gil? Because that's the same system as using alt currency to buy things and choosing to resell, which in that case that particular argument is a whole other monster to deal with...

You keep using that phrase, "That they actually need...". Well some people actually need MGP. Why should someone "needing" the card be more important than someone "needing" MGP? Who gets to make that judgement call? Because it seems to be a matter of opinion and I vote they are both equally "needed" and to leave the rolling system alone on this one. Everyone being able to roll need still gives everyone an equal chance at getting it. Fair is fair.

Seeing feedback from others, I edited my first post, where I'm now suggesting in making the cards a weekly quest type thing, like with relic/other weekly quests we have involving the towers, which are some of the more annoying cards to get (More so with the most recent towers in having to roll against 23 other people)

As DaikiKiyoshi said, Fair is Fair, which is true. I believe that this way everyone is able to get the rewards we need for their collection/MGP trade ins, we would not be able to trade the cards still, and there would be general less complaining from people in those that actually need the cards.

If they do that, then why keep the option to sell Cards for MGP?

They should just make it like every other duty where it falls in your inventory. I got no clue why the void ark series works like this as put in the loot box, but taking out the need for people that have it would be nice if they insist in keeping it like that. I really like a chance of those cards for MGP if others have the cards but I do not know who does and who does not so I just roll greed hoping those that have it do the same thing.

Because right now you have a '''chance''' for getting a card, less so if the RNG doesn't like you when you have to roll for them. If they made it to a kind of weekly quest, then you would only get one of each card that week. Right now if you're lucky you could get more than that each week, but it's again luck based. This takes the luck out of the equation. Not to mention if you run the towers as a way solely for MGP, it's kind of time wasted, when you could just primal farm for cards since it takes much less time.
