[DEV REQUEST] Please stop making cash shop items one character only.

I didn't want to add another thread to the pile of complaints about the latest additions to the cash shop, but I felt I needed to add my voice to this and a post hidden in a thread isn't going to attract as much attention.

I'm not overly happy about the idea of a cash shop - I remember the FFXI days where if you missed an item in a previous event, you could often buy it again at the next one, but I digress.

Regarding the cash shop, if I like something enough, I will get it since there's no other way to have it. To date I have purchased a platinum wedding package, a Fat Moogle mount and a wind-up Urianger so although I have used the cash shop before, I don't buy everything they add either.

The point of this thread is to ask why must items purchased on the cash shop be restricted to one character until further purchases are made for alts? I'm mostly referring to old event equipment, mounts and emotes here. Since I purchased the wind-up Urianger and wedding package a while ago for my main, I've made and play several alts. I don't think it's right that alt players should have to pay more - it's almost like we're being punished for not buying loads of fantasia or something.

I only bought the Fat Moogle mount because it was account wide, can't everything be like this on the Mogstation? It just feels like greed at this point.

tl;dr: SE, if you must have a cash shop in a subscription based MMO, can you at least make items purchased be delivered to all characters on an account?

EDIT: I hope you can see that by restricting sales to one character per transaction rather than making it account wide, you're quite possibly losing more sales than you stand to gain.

I agree with this, and I believe that the item shouldn't come at an increased price if its for the account. LOTRO does this extremely well, everything you buy with points is account bound (except some consumables) and in addition to this the points are even able to be worked for in the game it self.

You know the answer to this tho same reason we are gettin a jump potion and it is simply for money not other reason SE is a business and thats what businesses do.

I don't mind supporting this game through the mog station and I buy fantasia and nice glamours/emotes. But my only complaint is that it is not account-wide.
I remember when fantasia purchases -used- to go to all characters on an account instead of just one. I'm not sure why they decided to change the policy.

I agree that anything they ask for real world money for should be ACCOUNT-WIDE. That would at least make the high prices for little items more acceptable. I have multiple characters, and I refuse to pay $5-$10 for the same little item/emote for EACH. There are many items I would have already purchased had they been account wide, but instead I don't because if I buy something I should feel happy about it afterwards instead of having mixed emotions because it feels like a bad deal. Only SE can see the numbers though, and they obviously make a lot of money with their current set up so It very likely won't get better.

How about an option for Account-Wide and Single-Character? Different prices for each?

I mean Id even like to be able to transfer gil and have a pool to share between my alts , kinda why I stoped playign them because you cant but I know the reasons and I just have to adjust

A very good suggestion I don't know why they've ignored. I know SE is a company and money talks for any company out there but I can't imagine they're that greedy as to purposely ignore it because it means less money they can get out of a player.

Actually you can if they're in the same server and with a 2nd person involved to be the middleman. I have my wife friend all my alts. I send her anything I want to give them (Gil, minion, gear, etc.) and she disperses them to who I want.

This here is the one thing that irritates me about the new emotes.

Because I want these emotes, both for roleplaying and just toying with screenshots with friend, but I don't want to have to spend $14 for each character to have these two new ones.

Honestly, I don't care if they end up going to like $10 if it meant all my characters got it.

Agreed, this pattern of single character only is really preventing me from purchasing anything from the cash shop right now. I have bought a few things in the past that were account wide, but as an alt-player its just beyond my range to buy stuff for 5+characters. Between buying for all vs not spending money, the second option is what I'm taking. I can sort of understand when they were doing gender specific clothes (which I STILL don't like but that's another thread), but emotes? Ridiculous.

I wouldn't mind if they offered a discount pack too, something like 7$ for the emote and 10$ to make it account wide perhaps? :)

If you think about the numbers.. that kind of pricing model will not be a benefit for the consumer because you may end up paying more for something you may not even use.

While this is probably true in some cases, we're adults here. I think we should be allowed to make our own decision about this.

For example, I have 12 characters and I regularly play (at least once daily) three of them. The emote is $7. If I bought it for the three characters I actually use on a day to day basis, the emotes would cost 21$. Using my suggestion of a discount pack of 10$, I stand to save 11$. I think this should be a thing. :)

But you have the option to use it, it's a value proposition then, there is more perceived value in account wide vs character limited.

If you pay full sub, why is anything persistent you buy on mogstation not account wide, that's why you pay the full sub isn't it? Specifically for multiple characters. Now with emotes, minions, mounts and outfits we are in effect punished for having multiple Alts because of the sheer cost of say getting an outfit for each one of them. Since you in effect pay upfront with the top tier sub for up to 8 characters per server, the per character pricing in the mogstation is really quite negative since it makes it much less likely I would continue to play all my Alts, and perhaps cut back my sub.

I agree with you on that, it should be account wide by default as I mentioned in my OP. I guess my suggestion of a increased price for it to become an account wide purchase was mostly because I felt it'd be more likely to be implemented at all.

I agree with you, I guess I just feel that the best argument for that is kind of the same thing, but I agree with you, two tiers is the more likely outcome.

I always prefer account unlocks rather than character unlocks.

Friendly bump for visibility. :) I still don't get why a few items are account wide, like the Fat Moogle, Bennu and Slepnir mounts, but not everything. I already pay £1.30 extra a month to play alts on my main's server, why can't the alts get the mogstation purchases without me having to pay multiple times? Hardly seems fair.

Now I'm fairly certain most people will at least agree with me that if all of those mounts had both a "single character" price and an "account wide" price, SE could make more profit overall from the cash shop because more people with one character might be willing to pay the price of an account wide mount if it was available at a single character reduced price. Same applies to those with alts unwilling to buy a mount/emote/outfit/etc multiple times.

I'm not saying there aren't people out there with one character who haven't bought an account wide purchase, or vice versa, with alt players buying multiple single character purchases. I'm just saying I strongly believe SE could stand to make more sales if they offered both options.

jump potion was never confirmed and yoshida isn't keen on adding 1. Why do people spread false rumours.
he stated how they worked on korea, and that if the player base didn't want them, they will not be added.

The purchases in the Mog Station should be account wide I agree with that. SE are greedy. The prices are already high in the Mog Station and they're not even account wide. Shame on you SE.

While jump potion talk makes me stick to my stomach (i don't want it), Yoshida DID say that he is personally in favour of it, and that the dev team are currently 6/4 or 7/3 in favour of it.

I mean, I'd still be a little unhappy about the cash shop being a thing, but having all purchases be account-wide would go a long way toward making me more at peace with the idea. I might even actually buy some of the things I want but can't justify at current prices.

I don't agree that there should be a different, higher price for full account items, though. Many of the items in the shop are priced ridiculously high (the other thing keeping me from making my peace with it), so raising the prices is not really gonna help anything.

I understand that this is a business, but SE really needs to reevaluate their idea of what a digital item is worth, and consider that they'd make a lot more money off them if they weren't expensive enough to make the average consumer wince.

I just joined this game, and I would buy things from the store. I refuse until what I pay for applies to all account characters.
