SCH ability suggestion. Your thoughts

With Stormblood and possible new abilities/traits coming with the level cap raise, I was wondering what your thoughts are on a possible ability that guarantees the next galvanize cast is a crit.

There is still a lot of content I have yet to experience, and at this stage in the game for me, I don't see it as a huge impact, but I'm not sure about later in the game or if it would make a big difference in raids. However, I do like the idea of being able to forcefully put a crit galvanize on the tank or group for either clutch situations, or DPS increase.

If we could have such an ability, what would be a reasonable cooldown on it? I'm thinking 90-120 seconds.

5 Minute cooldown at least, a crit shield can make tank bursters ignorable. Moreover, since it would be a guaranteed crit that would mean you could pop fey illumination, mantra and other type of buffs to make it bigger. It would be the equivalent of benedicton, but even better since it could be AoE with deployment.

120s could be good if it shared the cooldown with deployment tactics (so you can only ensure a crit adlo on a single target, never AoE). If AoE is allowed, I feel 5m would be too little even. I think it'd be OP if it's more than a once-per-fight thing.
Important to consider is that once you can garuantee something, it becomes viable for strategies, and that can easily make a SCH mandatory for fights where it makes something significantly easier to deal with (deployed critlo with buffs is about as powerful as a tank LB 2).

I would absolutely love such an ability! Currently I use crit Adlo in at least A11S and A12S and I hate having to recast Adlo for it. The cooldown should be really long though, maybe 5 mins (same as Benediction).

As if SCH wasn't broken enough already; SE's goal has been to make Noct AST equally viable in shielding in raids and this would basically nullify that due to the Adlo crit bonus.

I feel as if this is far too powerful of a change.

They never said they wanted to make ast noct equal, but as useful as sch is. Sch will ALWAYS be better at shielding.

-Meltdown/Merton/Kaustra (depending on localization/translation).
oGCD ability that when used, makes your Miasma, Bio, Bio II deal the rest of its remaining damage instantly on the next tick and then wear off. Useful for if a boss is about to jump/go invincible.

If on a shared cooldown with deployment tactics, then that short a cooldown might be reasonable, but separately a crit adlo is simply too strong.

Aye! With further thought put into it, I can see how this would be too strong with that short of a cooldown. I don't think it's so powerful that it couldn't be implemented, so I agree with the shared CD with Deployment Tactics, or 300 second CD that has been mentioned. The thought came to me just recently when my SCH hit 56. I got a little excited with the thought of basically having control over granting the party a huge shield buff through use of this ability and DT.

I dont think its that op honestly, not for a long cooldown or really anything. its not like adlo has a stoneskin timer on it, so chances are in most cases itll be broken on the tank and time out on the dps before its fully utilized.

what is it, like 20 sec timer at the most?

Would you be that stupid to pop it 30 seconds before a tank burster? When you want to help a tank with an Adlo it is meant to be casted when you see the tank burster cast time (usually the tank burster takes more time than Adlo cast time, unless it has no visible cast time, but then it has a visible animation that has a long wind up time too).

nah but if the ability had a long cd timer like was suggested it would work on the first tank buster but maybe not be available for the second, third etc depending on the fight, so yeah, about as op as using a tank ultimate for a hard hit. Then never being able to do that again for the rest of the fight - I dont see it being that overpowered in such a case

Yep that's what i meant. It would be OP with a low cooldown like 2 minutes, but if it would be 5 minutes like benediction then it would be more balanced since you would only be able to use it once in a fight (maybe 2 if the fight is long enough)

I want to say yes, give me an on-demand crit Adlo every 5 minutes, but I also do think it's already a little bit too powerful on a job that already is stupidly powerful. What a dilemma.

Honestlly, I'm all in for a BIG ability with large CD. Though I don't find any problem with the overall performance, I think we lack something of the sort.

I thought a bit on this and got this idea of an ability (most probably broken but meh, its not like YoshiP is going to put it):

Exaltation (180s-300s):
Temporarily transforms your fairy into a evolved state

Eos --> Seraph
Angel Prayer
While in this state, Eos casts Angel Prayer instead of Embrace, which heals nearby allies. It would be some kind of AoE heal pulse way more effective than Whispering Wind.

Selene ---> Valkyria/Archangel/Siren (either of these is fine)
Angelical Judgment
While in this state, Selene will cast Angel Judgement on an enemiy and enemies nearby it (instead of casting Embrace on allies) damaging them and causing them to receive increased damage from all sources. Could be some sort of mini-Holy/mini-Gravity spam.

Love this post. I really enjoy thinking outside the box from silly to "hey, we should talk about this one."

I feel what you've mentioned is something that would actually happen in 4.0 to keep SCH healing interesting. A heal pulse, while technically a regen can be given to Eos and encourage the 'place' command. She pulses every tick, a low potency heal, healing anyone in her vicinity :)

I really don't like the idea of fairies causing damage, but would like the idea of Selene increasing raid DPS, just have to give her AoE physical/magical vulnerability up abilities on the opposition and the SCH can choose based on the party composition.

Yup. I am all about making SCH even more powerful :)

I like the idea of Selene causing damage, she's more an offensive fairy anyway. I want sch's personnal dps to be even greater :3

Nice idea, but I think you're thinking a little too big for a tactically minded class.

Instead of forcing a crit, it should act as a literal reverse Deployment.

Heat Treatment/Morale Tactics depending on your definition of Galvanize
The next spell cast that applies Galvanize will have doubled shield strength, but will do no healing and cannot crit. Overwrites Emergency Tactics. And vice versa.
90 second cooldown.

That lets you trade the chance for a full Adlo crit (900p * crit strength effective hit points), for the ability to force a 600p shield before a pull or Deployment, or for some free DPS time.

yeah sch is a little lacking in the aoe heals department i was actually thinking of a new ability for eos like a cooldown thatd make her heal multiple/if not all party members at once for a short period of time like you suggested a pulse like a healing turret seems cool too, though im a little worried about scholars ;promoting' their heal turrets

I think our aoe heals are fine. It's more of whm/ast role. Let's stay focused on shield/dps

Well I do think scholar is a powerful healer anyway, I have all three healers and have done high content with all three. The only time its let down it terms of healing effectiveness is when you have used all your aetherflows because alot of people are taking damage. Then theres nothing left to go to, but wait till your cds come up, by then people are dead, but this is not common for everyone to take that much damage in a good group. Whereas a wmg or ast can mostly carry on with high heals (mana permitting) So I for one dont think its necessary, if it needs a change, I would say change the aetherflow cd, but if your talking dps sch I still dont think necessary cos dps doesnt rely on aetherflow as much
