What would you like to see/change for Omega Raid?

Bahamut and Alexander were pretty good raids though I like Bahamut more. Since we're gonna have Omega sometime in 4.0, would like to see something new there. Like creative mechanics kinda like with Alexander 11, and/or add items other than tokens and pages for normal and savage (or Champion for Omega) or at least tweak the weekly lot system for raids (though it may be unlikely).

What new stuff and/or changes would you like to see for Omega?

How about a raid that take place outside.

Fighting a full size version of the original Omega Weapon rather than some tiny "Omega Prime" version inside the boss itself. I'd imagine the boss is too massive for this to realistically work but I can dream.

I wouldn't mind seeing one where the team has to split up (or even a 24man where each alliance splits up). Almost like with one of the Alexanders where 4 go on left/4 on right, but that lasts longer than a minute.

Just Non Scripted. or less scripted have some rng in the mechanincs. it's kinda boring when you know exactly whats coming next every time

One that actually makes healers heal and tanks tank. One that doesn't make everyone into a glorified DPS

If the story actually had some relevance to the overarching story of FFXIV again.

The Binding Coil of Bahamut, while generally isolated, still served to conclude the story that ended 1.X, and would reflect upon the main story later on; if only in a minor way.
Alexander is 100% completely isolated from everything else in the game. Even the Crystal Tower and Mhach still helped to build on the world and its lore. Alexander is so totally separate, that its story is actually made to justify its total segregation from all other content. I really, really hope that this is not repeated with Omega. Hopefully we'll get something more like Bahamut again, given Omega is already established in the MSQ.

That said, I think a relatively easy way to achieve that would be for the devs to do this v

Obviously, nothing is quite so black and white when it comes to game design, but I think more randomized fight mechanics would do a LOT to ease the "Cleric Stance/OT stance" uptime we have currently.

1. A multi-part raid that doesn't just involve falling from a higher platform in order to reach the "new" arena. E.g. actually moving the boss through a massive arena, with some periods of pure terror and subsequent fleeing.
2. Environmental cover. And not blowing it up early.
3. Something, something subtargets (e.g. leg joints, the cannons, the exhaust vents).
4. Some environmental objects or field weapons that aren't activated solely by empowerment through a vaguely raised palm.
5. Reasons to split up, without actually being forced to split up.
6. Reasons for dps to at least psuedo-tank some smaller mobs, etc.
7. Vantage points (beware of fall damage should they be destroyed without a movement skill at the ready).

One thing I loved about Coil that was sorely missing with Alexander was that sense of journeying into the unknown.

Coil was a mystery. What was down there? What will I find and how will I deal with it? "Holy crap, look at the size of that!" "It's you!"

Alexander feels more like another adventuring footnote. It's there. It might be an issue, except it won't be. Defeat the gatekeeper. Now defeat THIS gatekeeper. Goblin jabber. Something, something time travel. Traumatized scar waifu. Special cat.

Bring back the sense of exploration.

Easy, just design a fight where the victory objective isnt the death of the boss. Have like a survival wave arena where you have to continually pump aether or something and survive for a duration.

I want Midas savage difficulty back or at least an inbetween of Midas and Creator.

For healers the capabilities of an individual vary a lot. Even at the current, easy healing levels of Creator there are plenty of healers who don't have any time to dps and more who can't even heal enough to keep the party alive. And then all the good ones are dpsing for 99% of the fight because "there's nothing to heal". No matter where you set the required healing amount there will be people both capable of way more and less.

This would be really neat if you had two split into two different teams to tackle different sides of the body simultaneously.

An 8 person party being divided into two 4 teams and completely separated from each other. But what they do influences the other team. Like an add spawns on one team and while the add is alive, the other is continually hit with unavoidable damage.

More random mechanics would be so much fun, yet there's people that think that scripted fights = good player...? And I just don't see how that makes any sense.

First of all, I want to see the new mechanics!

All these teathers (come closer or run way to drop), stack to share the damage, run away not to share, prays and many others became very boring. New mechanics!!!

And another thing- I want, that the battle require more solo skill, not group skill. More individual solo challenges in the fight!

If the mechanics were punishing and non-scripted, I guarantee you the community will collapse and cannibalize each other even faster than now lol. We're already have enough fools failing to "scripted" fights like Zurvan + Creator and you want even MORE raid awareness, job skill, reflexes and clutch judgement?
People gotta be careful what they wish for. A3S was a taste of what random punishing mechanics would be like (Digititis + Add phase) and last I checked, those mechanics were particularly hated and tore many groups apart alone, this was even before they fell to the "scripted" part of the fight.

Good players will adapt to whatever the fight demands of them in order to clear, scripted or unscripted its the same. Fights can be scripted and still require skill to clear.

An interesting and relevant story. Not a random, boring sidequest-like story.

I am tired of hall ---- adds------Bosss end of raid concept. I want the Omega Raid to be a big dungeon that is open from start to finish, so not in 12 parts like the previous two raids. I want to see:

- Better story, Alexander was meh, after Bahamut.
- Big open raid, like what World of Warcraft or other MMORPG have, cutting the raids in bits kills the immersion.
- Make exploring fun and make exploring rewarding.
- Add fights where one does not need the regular tank/dps/healing tactic, but add cannons, vehicles etc to beat the boss, focus more on fun and challenge and less on what we had before.
- Puzzels, make them rotate those in each time you enter the dungeon, make them require the whole raid to work toghter and make them fun to do.

I'm just thrilled, will it be a circle or square arena? Rectangle arena in a10s was a shock for me!

I agree with harder and more interesting raids but i dont want healers to heal all time because they're " Healers so dey heal lel". I'm very interested in dpsing as a healer, i would really be sad if i couldn't anymore...

Why on earth would you not want healers to perform their primary function? Summoner is always an option for you if you find dot upkeep fascinating.

For what it's worth, DPS always WILL be an option for the true paragons of the healer role - it is in virtually every other MMO I've played. I think many of us would just like the extreme focus on it toned down considerably, not outright removed. Even Mythic raid healers in WoW still keep their dots up on bosses and stuff - they just overall spend more time healing than DPSing, and this holds true for all echelons of content, not just the hardest content in the game.

That's more what I would like to see, rather than a situation like PVP where healers can't contribute offensively at ALL.

I didn't say i dont want to heal, but I like the idea of being an offensive healer. Mostly since i share the same base as smn do.

It only means, that the fights in the game are lack of HPS check and other things, that require the healers attention. Would be nice, if healers will only do they jobs and simple- have no time for DPS, because the group will be always in dunger

I really don't see what's interesting in this. I think being able to dps and heal requires way more skills

I just want a sense of adventure. Alex was boring. I remember getting excited during the trailer for Midas and seeing that giant city only to get in there and it was just a sky box.

And more involved fights. I'd like some environment activities going on.

Few things.

1. Less party wipe mechanics. It is bored. I have 36000 HP for nothing. Someone fail chain? YOu're dead. Someone Fail Puddles? your dead, Someone Fail X thing, even if you don't fail, you're dead anyway. I knwo the team work is important, but is becoming annoying. Sophia is a good example. Even if people die, you still can complete it if resurrect them. People who is doing the mechanics correctly shouln't be punished.

2. Make both tanks and both healers necesary to avoid Solo-tank /Solo-heal situations on PF, but this in general, not only for Omega.

3. More variety. I liked a lot the Alexander. But it is always machines and goblins. More variety of enemies could be cool.

With that I'm happy.

Memorization is why Touhou is a thing. Players know what's coming next and prepare accordingly. Memorization is as much a skill as reaction time.

1. But then that makes clearing the encounter all but certain. It shifts the skill burden to the healers because they then become capable of carrying lesser players who cannot do mechanics. Punishing mechanics exist for the reason of ensuring the 8 party members are reasonably challenged equally.
Though I would rather mechanics are punishing by merit instead of by design, like the boss hits really hard naturally or he applies a continuous debuff on the party (thus making raid hits naturally punishing). I think the real issue is the mechanics so far feel too polar, you either clear the mechanic and get away unscathed or get punished really hard. There are few mechanics that are unavoidably punishing but you can mitigate its impact through skillful play/composition.

I accutally want a fight where the goal is to stay alive and press/interact with things/buttons in order to activate self destruct for the place. Rather than burning the boss down.
The CS should be raid members escaping the explosion then doing their victory poses.

I feel like a fight of that type ought to be on every raid MMO's bucket list for at least one fight across all its expansions. Maybe Stormblood will have the opportunity? One can hope. I'd certainly like to see it.

That said, could use some "interact"ions that go beyond simply raising a palm towards the object's hitbox column at shoulder level every time...

On that note, I'm in favor of the next crossover event being with Touhou.
Large fates like odin with crazy huge amounts of bullets and silly Touhou hats as the prizes, as well as a few minions

Absolutely no "kill adds in time to not be killed by the ultimate" mechanic. Seriously, that mechanic is so over done at this point I'd be happy to never see it again, ever.

Arenas that aren't just circular, square or rectangular, c'mon, some more variety would be nice, remember in Binding Coil T1 where you hopped around on different platforms? Remember in T5 where the terrain was uneven? More of those would be appreciated, Bismark was the only Primal not to have a circle/square arena.

I also agree that coil felt like you were delving into the unknown, would like to see more of that kind of feeling when diving into raids.

This is like the only certain mechanic in every trial/raid ever. I agree. Maybe they need to give us buffer adds that we dont want to kill or need to keep alive so we can deal massive dmg/survive some mechanics, that would be interesting, have the off tank bus the adds to where theyre needed. not hold them down for total destruction or the party dies

- An actual battle ground that is not a square or circle. I'd love to fight in a forest, etc.
- (Subjective) gear that looks really fantasy like and pretty
- Enough with the jump rope tactics
- Allow recovery, its fun and can make it more challenging sometimes. In Tera, the most difficult fights I did revolved around recovering the party.
- Stop relying so heavily on adds in the fights. Even in 1.x this was a problem.

That's not entirely reasonable. Coil was a "mystery" because it managed to be something we had never seen before (crystals and technological ruins) in addition to being linked to story elements that were built up over the whole of ARR (read: everyone and their mother talking about the Calamity). The reveals also didn't mean much if you never played during 1.0. "Oh, it's that grumpy girl from the early storyline. Oh, some stuff about a dude she's looking for. Oh, so that's what happened after the whiteout..." etc.

------------------------------------------

Something we should also talk about is raid dungeons as part of a tier. Coil and Alex were basically corridors leading to a boss and nothing else. I'd rather Omega be Stormblood's "tier 1" raid, then introduce something new for 4.2 and then finish it off with a third raid for 4.4. Of course, the challenge is in needing a cohesive story to tie the three different locations together; you'd need to introduce something near the beginning of Stormblood and have it pop up once in a while to build things up. It's also a resource-intensive approach.

The trade-off would be making those adds hit really hard or create a kill priority via mechanics.

For example, you could make an add that when they die does something to the boss to make them take more damage for a bit. Making an add particularly dangerous to the off-tank would also work. It's a pity we don't have a job that can mind-control mobs, because a mob that has to be mind-controlled to make the fight doable would be interesting. Adds that need to be killed by the raid before the boss gets them would also be something new for this game.

I respectfully disagree. I think our current healer DPS meta was BORN as a result of healing in this game being too overpowered and easy to learn. I think this is why we've started to see a recent upswing in requests like the one on page 1 - "make raids more about mitigation/tank swapping/positioning/add pickup and actual cleansable debuffs/more shielding/higher HPS checks". (Aka, let tanks tank and healers heal.)

I think that people are starting to realize that healer DPS is less about skill, and more about the role simply being too boring and unengaging without it. (If it truly required "skill", IMO, it wouldn't be touted as pretty much necessary from all healers at all level of content in the game.)
