Will we ever get the contestant for Scholar?

Good day

Right now the only class, which doesnt have the REAL contestant in the raid party is Scholar (Astrologian is a joke, not the real contestant ). Any NOT TOTALLY overgeared party need to have Scholar or will be deaths

So, simple question- when in the game will appear the real contestant for the Scholar, so the player will have a choice whom to take- Scholar or...? SE adds new DDs, new tankss, but what about the contestant for Scholar?

Well Yoshida admitted both Warrior and Scholar are overpowered and will probably not receive as much of a buff as the rest will coming in Stormblood.

So 4.0 is your answer.

Astrologian. Just because Scholar is better doesn't mean current-Powerlevel AST can't fill the shield healer subrole. The problem here is less that current-AST can't compete with SCH and more that AST so greatly outpaces WHM in what it brings to a group that the ideal composition involves bringing the best of both worlds.

While AST and SCH changes must be part of the equation, the most important element in play right now will be giving White Mage a killer app, not creating an unnecessary fourth healer. If every healer has something great that none of the others bring to the table, while a meta will undoubtedly emerge, the decision on what to bring won't be as clear-cut.

Jesus christ, people still think Nocturnal AST is garbage. Did you even read the 3.4 patch notes?

I know a lot of raid groups running Whm and Ast. They are doing pretty well, so I don't agree it's Sch or bust. War on the other side yes it's required.

3.4+ content much easier than previous, so I almost can agree, that Scholar can be replaced there. But in common- not

SCH is an amazing shielder, AST brings the best utility when it replaces WHM, so point still stands, SCH has it's place safe and AST pretty much too now (but by replacing WHM, not replacing SCH).

A Nocturnal AST's biggest weakness is the White Mage co-healer.

...Did you not read the patch notes? AST is the better/stronger shielder and can do it for much cheaper and, in the case of single target, while dodging/running for mechanics. Adlo deploy is stronger, but that's a 2 minute CD that takes setup and has a short range.

...But I guess this was what someone above was complaining about, yeah, people apparently didn't read...

You take SCH for DPS, fairy healbotting, and non-shield mitigation.

Good, but not enough. Why? The party didnt die on the last AoE only because of the tank LB, so, your example is almost 0

Also the fight was too short because of the 5 dd

The groups I see are AST then SCH/WHM, the bonus damage from AST is what people are looking for. Most groups are looking for speed kills and AST brings that to the table. Damage put out by SCH doesn't eclipse the groups buff from cards.

The DPS bonus of the ASTRO- is a random. You can get the card and can not get. But SCH himself make a lot of DPS
So, ASTRO- weak DPS and a random card. SCH- strong stable DPS and easy shielding

This. AST is just so much better than WHM in every single way that they'd rather just get rid of the WHM and bring AST and SCH instead.
And SE seems to have no idea what to do about this either. They seemed to think buffing balance to ridiculous heights was somehow going to fix things...

The only real points of trouble I remember were A6S pre Nerf and A8S. But it was doable (we did finish Midas Savage pre 3.4 with Noct AST).

In Creator Savage I clearly see they have build the fights with Noct AST in mind. The only exception is the last phase of A12S, where the SCH can shine a little bit better.

Yes. The changes they made to the AST did not adress the issues Noct AST had in Midas Savage. And increasing the the time between heavy raidwide damage events is also just a workaround and no solution.

But you don't need a SCH and also no massive overgear to survive the content.

You really should not talk about stuff you don't know how it works.

Look my video. Its from november, 28. No tank LB. Surprise: We did not die.

Tank LB just makes it more failsafe and you need only 3 ppl for the stack mark (regular you need 4).

2 minute search using lodestone and the "other" sites and you'll realise quickly you're first point is right, seems to post alot on endgame and classes, 0 healers leveled (picking up a 30 ast doesn't count) and only recently picked up the Alex story achievements with no data to back up savage, opinions are fine but I wouldn't bother calling him out on it as you can see from his response below yours ^^

On a side note as also a monk main OP and considering you have made a few threads on monk, I died a little inside when I saw your current monk build q.q

I'm sorry, but it has been painfully obvious since the patch notes of 3.4 that they do not care about "fixing" healer balance, they simply wanted Ast to be a popular job in its own expansion. They did it by purposely making Ast have an overloaded kit compared to whm. The only way they can fix Ast is by making more than 3 of the cards desirable and consistifying the benefits of their usage. This 20% balance card is unlikely to stay, but bole is very likely to stay, considering the fact that you still might not even want to use it.

I understand their reasoning for purposely over buffing AST, but it really worries me.
It's a lot easier to buff up than nerf down, of course. The current AST could easily carry over to 4.0 and become a problem. Afterall, AST itself in it's design is troublesome. A strong buffing job that has to also be able to heal all content in the game and can specialize in either Mitigation or regen Healing.
They could definitely use a redesign. It simply offers too much.
