Apartments

Can we all talk about the new apartments that are coming out? I do not like the fact that players with FC rooms or actual houses can snag an apartment. If SE is really wanting players to get housing which we all know we want....they need to limit the housing to those who currently have so those who don't have can get. You are going to get those people who have housing buy a few on their mains and alts...just to hog it all. I love the game for its entirety but the housing is lacking. If the people who have housing already are restricted that would be nice. I am tired of the housing bandits coming by and taking all the areas and reselling for a (excuse my language) retarded price. :mad:

Why limit who can acquire an apartment when it's been mentioned that the apartment system is designed to be scalable and allow everyone who wants an apartment to have one?

With the implementation of apartments, the personal demands for housing will be 100% met. Each ward has 1 apartment with 90 rooms, and we are ready to increase the number of rooms whenever we want. We designed it so 1 ward can have over 500 rooms per apartment, so it will definitely be able to cover every player. Players who already own a house can buy an apartment. We also have a chocobo stable per apartment so players who didn't have a house to feed and change the color wii be able to now.

500 rooms in each ward? That sounds reasonable so would that be 1k for the regular and sub? Or just 500 for the entire ward itself?

Over 6,000 apartments to start with the ability for SE to add more if/when needed. It's going to be okay.

SE alrdy said everyone will have a room, there will be over 370000 befor too long.. So what if you have to wait a few week for them to up the count at 1st, it starts @ 90 and will go up too 500 pre Ward, and + don't for get we have more wards coming and a new town for house still being planed for ishgard... So ya 430000 if and when we get Ishgard housing. You ppl need to take a chi-pill and just slow down.

This is not housing there will be more then what we need over time.

why should someone, who already owns a house or is a fc member rent a single useless room?

you cant use them for gardening, airships, or anything else

They are creating a 6K instance system that can be duplicated 500 times each.

The way I have understood it, there is not going to be any shortage of apartments, ever.

This is a non-issue.

Furniture storage for items that someone wants to use again in the future, but not right now.

Also you can do gardening. Sort of. If it's the same as the FC rooms (and it probably will be...) you'll be able to have two pots to grow two things in. Can't crossbreed etc, but there it is still very basic gardening.

Not having to maintain a chocobo stable will be nice* and I can get rid of the one on my FC lawn to put roof access back in, because item limit. Yay.

*Unconfirmed, just a hopeful Lalafell. Roof access will still be worth it.

Yeh about that... do we know if it'll need cleaning? Who has to do it if so? Or maybe they're hoping that someone who desperately wants the max exp will clean it (while the other 89 people leech off of them) :P

but we will need to pay a rent + cleaning staff. It is just natural otherwise, the owner of the apartment will be bankruptcy !

my question is how big are the apartment rooms? if there the same size as fc rooms whats the point for apartments if you already in a fc with a house?

well in the ( believe it was a LL) they said everyone shares the stables in one spot and random players can even feed your chocobo if they want (i can't 100% confirm this) so i would think if 90 people were in the apartments everyone would equally be able to clean the stables sorta like a good will things (i personally would kinda hope not but it would be interesting to see) a set group can rotate who cleans it this time or something silly xD idk.

If you're in an FC with a house are you CERTAIN you're going to stay with that FC? This is the reason I want an apartment, because then it's not tied to what FC I'm in and I don't have to worry about the price tag on a house.

That's an easy answer! Due to the way that SE has setup FC permissions owning an FC room is highly dangerous. You can rent an FC room and then the FC can lock you out of the FC house. At this point you cannot enter your rented room. This also means you are unable to transfer servers if you wanted to, because that requires for you to demolish your FC room. That is why I will never own an FC room until that loophole/exploit is corrected.

I was looking forward to these apartments as I was unable to afford a house when they released more a few months ago. My only complaint now is that we are unable to share access with anyone. I was going to share an apartment with a friend but it doesn't look like I can do that now.

unless something drastic happens i don't see myself leaving my current fc ever at least for a very long time, if thats all apartments are going to be thats disappointing, they should have been bigger imo and offer something fc room with house doesnt. SE should have just spent there resources fixing the housing rather then apartments imo

Also not all FCs have a house. For those people apartments will fix that.

To the best of my knowledge that is actually fixed now (and has been for quite a while). When you go to leave an FC it should let you demolish the room without actually having to do it yourself. At least that's how I understand it.

Immersion, its what us rich players do (im not a crafter or gatherer I just farm primal drops) Just like how rich ppl own multiple houses in different states. I live in goblet, in a cozy medium house. Im going to get a apartment in the mist so I have a nice vacation home. Or I might set it up to be my raid/static office. Since my raid team is separate from my fc.

Can fix what isn't broken, its pretty obvious at this point housing is going to stay a limited resource. Even if the original concept was for everyone to have one, the end products design was released as a limited resource, which means that's how it was designed, so technically it isn't broke if that's how it was meant to be. And patch after patch they have proven that. Apartments was a smart move, because they can easily add more and more to it, and it gets a majority of the players wanting "personal space" to shush.

I was kicked out during a break as my FC chose to move their home to a larger size that opened in another city. I didn't return in time to reclaim my 2 million gil worth of furniture either.

So, while being in an FC with a house has the advantages of a cheaper room, advanced gardening, and airships, it's possible to lose everything in a ways that's out of your power.

Apartments allieviate this while also giving room accessibility to literally everyone.

Sorry, but I think you misunderstood. I was replying to the comment about how an FC leader could hold people hostage/stop them from being able to enter the house and demolish their room (and in turn stopping them from leaving the FC) and that (as far as I know) it has since been resolved and the person themselves can now just choose to leave an FC, demolishing the room at the same time.

Ah. I did misunderstand the context here. That's actually quite useful!

There's going to be plenty, and it will be mine, no conditional status hinging on my FC... Which I dont intend to leave any time soon, but the concept of it being truly my own sounds really nice. (I blew the gil on a fc room, and I have like, a portrait of Hildebrand and a bed in there.. thats it...

I'm happy that I can finally get a 1/3 of the housing feature, but what about farming and exploration with our built airships? Would be cool if they added 1 Airship for everyone to use/contribute too in the apartment complex. Some sort of community farming feature that everyone can use at the apartment would be nice too. A small indoor farming would work too, just enough space to make those house owners only minions. It would be way better than that aquarium thing which isn't a game play mechanic, but just more decoration.

Having one airship split between potentially 499 strangers all wanting something different when one voyage can take up to a week and bring back only a handful of items doesn't sound like a good idea. I believe everyone should have access to all the features present in the game without it being tied to their ability to get a house, but it needs to be on a per player basis.

Appartments should in no way have better features than personal houses considering an Appartment cost a fourth of a small plot ( excluding the additional 400k construction permit ). If there is to be a personal airship feature it should be limited to houses.

Why limit it to either? Some people don't have a choice of buying a house of any size because there simply aren't any available. If the perks are going to be tethered to real estate instead of houses, they should be included in all forms of real estate, especially with the limited availability. If not to real estate, then players themselves.

I managed to 'snag' a house at the last gold rush , but , I am running out of retainer space.
So , I will be getting an apartment to put all my spare furniture from events and retainer ventures in it.
Or .... wait .... maybe I should hold on till the next housing in Ishgard is ready .........

SE will add more apartment when they want so if needed . So, 90 can be 500 soon if needed :)

Has it been? I changed FCs back in June and had to manually destroy my room before the game let me leave the FC.

I tried looking for it more as I was sure that I remember seeing this being fixed (and I can't find any threads complaining about this in nearly a year). I think you can stand on the lawn of the house and go into the housing menu and "Vacate Chambers" from there (so you don't need to be inside the house, just on the properly area) and then you can leave the FC. At least that's how I understand it and I apologise if that's not the case!

except of cross breeding, gardening in a room is already possible. And the apartment houses will have a stable to coloring the Chocobos.
