Ideas to get rid of leeches in farming parties

Yes that's right!! Had 2 leeches yesterday who told leader to put sepex farming party instead of P3 practice party. Of course the leader is not dishonest like that and continued on as P3 practice party. They also admit to going to farming parties when they have not cleared and no effort whatsoever on their side.

I don't condemn people who lag or those who are honest that they went close to completing the dungeon. Its these kind of people who try to sneak in, pretend to know everything and ending up as a wipefest. There are plenty practice parties. Why go for farming parties and just wipe everything. I am stressed out.

Ideas to have another requirement in party finder for farming parties? How about specific player recommendations for the dungeon itself plus number of times cleared for the dungeon? Would it able to get a suitable farming party? Would like to know what you guys think :D

Second reaction: How to get rid of Leeches... rename the spell to something else. Cleansing tonic, whatever.

In all seriousness, though, this has pretty much always been a problem =/ I think the suggestion I've personally liked the best was to have an option in PF, similar to all those "multiple runs for the loot", "serious play", "newcomers welcome" and all those checkboxes. Call it "clear required" or whatever, and have it check for an "instance cleared" flag for the listed instance. If you have cleared said run, PF allows you to join said listing. If you haven't, you get an error message, something like, "Unable to join party. Requirements not met."

Such an option would reduce the number of leeches in farm parties. Could it be abused? Certainly. Pretty much everything in this game can be abused in some way, if you want to. Would it eradicate leeches entirely? No. You always have those who managed to get carried at some point, or those who bought their clear run from someone. Another risk with this option is that the number of run sales would skyrocket, which in turn would promote RMT (cos those runs aren't exactly cheap).

The good thing with PF is that by joining a party via PF, you automatically agree to the terms listed for the party you join. Which means that if they break those terms (e.g. by not having cleared it when it's a farm party) I believe it's fair grounds for reporting them? At least last I heard, that was one acceptable reason for reporting people. The bad thing is that you can't know for certain until you actually join the instance, and it adds a lot more stress to the group as a whole, with finger-pointing every which way and time lost and potential food buffs ticking down and, you know. Stuff that's generally Not Good for a party and is likely to contribute to its disbandment.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think you can't if the party leader has you blacklisted (or if you have blacklisted the party leader). I could be wrong, though.

Indeed. There are some who barely cleared. If could set it to some min requirement of 3 x dungeon completion would it be better? Had plenty drama yesterday and one of them in my BL. If some new people came into farming parties and claim they were close to completing the dungeon, we wouldn't know either :C

If you are leader than maybe yes, they couldn't come (This I don't know for sure). But if you are in a party with someone else as a leader than those you have BL can come. Just their names greyed out and you cant see their chat. That is what I know from my FC buddies. A loop hole there. BL is for them not to join you in DF instead and no PM from them.

My grandmother always said salt was the best way to deal with leeches.

a simple no bonus checker would at least make a start, there will always be those that had paid for a clear or being carried hardcore but something is better than nothing.

Just run past them, unless they're in their humanoid form in which case you'll need to use napalm rounds/Molotov cocktails.

Leeches are just as good as Esuna!

The best way to deal with it is to hold them accountable and not give them a free pass. Whenever I join a farm or its my farm party, I'm just not gonna stick around or keep people who aren't honest about their clear, or perform far below what's expected that it can be considered a carry.

To be fair ive seen ppl who have "clears" who do worse then a bonus player, yet no one decides to kick them....id consider them a leech more then anything. Problem is after 2 weeks of the Primal fight coming out, no body really runs it as much anymore, hardly any Practice runs are made. So if your only just getting up to the gear lvl because ur behind or new to 60 stuff like that compared to older players then ur outta luck for clearing content...

Ask your self this, did you clear with someone who all ready cleared? if yes then you to was carried ( this is asked to everyone not just you rice )

It becomes circumstantial. If you have to be dishonest about a clear to sneak into a farm party and only to get exposed after we zone in, I'd probably get rid of you/leave on that principle alone

This is missing the context of my point, but I'll answer it anyway. No, I cleared it with my static. Even if you got your clear with people that have previously cleared it, it does not mean it was a carry. I even let uncleared people in my farm parties depending on the circumstances (such as a healer or a tank that's survived to enrage, because that's not their job)

How was you not carried? It is the same you went in with people who all ready done it, so you was carried by those who completed it before you, therefore this whole topic is just some jackass being salty because he didn't get his 1st try clear.. sephi ex is one of the most challenging fights yet, cant expect players to clear fight time around.

People just need to stop this entitled "i have a clear so im god and know the fight, i can not make a mistake once" While again most times ones who screw up are the ones who cleared it.

Like I said, you're asking a question that has absolutely no context, let alone the one I'm coming from. My static didn't have it cleared either prior to our clear as a static. Honestly if you can't even read into what I'm posting, then you should take another look at the topic in general to understand where everyone is coming from, because your responses don't reflect that.

No one is saying "no clear = no experience" or "clear = able to farm", far from it. But you're not taking that context into mind. There's always exceptions when it comes to this sort of thing, but there's also objective things that you shouldn't do (like lie about a clear for example)

It is a difference when people help with practising and sneaking into a farm party.

The first group did agree to practise.

The second group don't want to practise.

My solution was a simple option in party finder to allow players who have completed the fight only. :)

i dont see a particular need to make it a system option compared to the current self-policing. self-policing also has the advantage of allowing you to individually vet people (ie "this is my alt" situations) while a system setting would force you to work around it in awkward ways or even defeat the system itself. much less elegant.

Putting "2 fails = thai kick to the face" in PF description works wonders for me. Gotta be honest, if you want to achieve something in this game you have to turn your "being nice" mode off from time to time.

My Point is we all have been carried, (also the tags in the thread label Practice extreme to...so the OP also includes a practice run as being leeched) through content by players who have done it before...so is calling a bonus player a leech? Just people who want to be carried.

Needs to be clear since im one of the bonus people who need sephi, but i do not join a farm group so am i still a leech?

You know, I think I've finally figured out my problem with your posts.



I think that you keep using the word 'leech' when you mean 'helped.' I think that if you took out the word 'leech' from your post, you might actually be able to create a valid point.

Yes, there are people who have been helped by people with the clear before, and it was very beneficial to them to recieve that help. Those people aren't leechers, because they earned their clear - just as much as someone who got the clear without any help.

What a carry/leecher is, is someone who does not put in effort into getting the clear. Those same people who are dead for over half or the entire fight, those people who do not optimize their DPS while maintaining mechanics, those people who join a farm party for a quick clear and still fail the mechanics and die multiple time, people who just pay for the win,... Those are leeches.

There is a middle ground between recieving help and leeching. Often, people who join Party Finders for Farm parties with bonus are leechers. Those that lack the confidence to inform the leader of their new bonus, are trying to get a win not by their own merits but by deception. But, the caveat to this, is without telling the leader. If you have the integrity to inform the leader, I think that distinguishes you from the leech catagory as someone recieving help. Because it shows you are putting yourself out there. You are asking for help. But you're showing you're willing to earn it.

What someone who recieved help is? Having a veteran in the party. Having someone with more experience than you in the party. Heck, for all intents and purposes, we all recieve help when we go to PF at the same time that we help eachother.

I think you're being overly sensitive to the topic at hand. People other than the OP can add tags, and even if he did put it there, it could be to say "people who need practice should join practice groups" - ignore the tags and focus on the message.

When I set up a farm PF, will often get people PM me and ask to join even though they haven't cleared. This is fine, I will usually ask the people that have already joined if they mind. If they do, for any reason, I will politely tell the enquirer (this rarely happens tho, usually everyone is prepared to give someone a shot). If someone else PMs me the same I will tell them that unfortunately we already have someone in the party in the same situation, and taking two uncleared people may greatly reduce our chances of being successful. They usually are fine with this.

I think the issue we all have is people who say nothing, join, and somehow think the rest of us will not notice. I don't mind giving a chance to people who have the courtesy to ASK before joining.

Then again on my server there are a lot of PFs that state "clear/farm". I don't really get this. if it's a clear, then it's not a farm, even if it goes down, doesn't automatically mean you are now farm status. I think "farm" used to have a very specific meaning, being you have cleared something multiple times, know all mechanics inside out, and can do them instinctively and effortlessly. Now it seems you clear something once, even if you're dead the whole time and get carried, then suddenly you're a farmer

This is my problem with the PF, people instantly think 1 kill is enough to secure the ability to farm when its clearly not. But hey i ask if ppl have cleared they say yes, Its hard to tell if they lie due to my bonus so we go on and they wipe on P1..clearly not cleared or just killed it once.

Also the OP instantly assumes they don't put in practice, how would they know? Did they say oh its my first time ever then yes its fine...they are wanting to be carried but you cant judge the player till they do the fight.

Unfortunately there are a number of players that think that they're better than they actually are and try to get clears out of farm parties through desperation. This is what is meant when the OP refers to leechers or carries - a person who cannot pull their own weight and expect the rest of the party to make up the difference. With the lore weapons becoming available to all this week and the new step in the anima relic, people are becoming more desperate, since there's even less of a reason for people to complete the fight.

Many of us who have set up farm parties to get the weapon have had to deal with people either being dishonest - leechers - or unaware of their skill level - carries - and it gets annoying to the point that we don't want to deal with people that haven't cleared it for expediency's sake. It takes a long time to do the fight and when you have to balance somebody who has experience of the fight against somebody who may hold back 7 other people for an entire hour, you have to make a choice of what's more important.

It's nothing personal.

That said, I agree with the second person. I ended up blacklisting repeat offenders. I'm done farming it now though, so I took everybody off - everyone deserves another chance another day.

I usually give a farm party 2-3 tries. After that it's not a farm. I just leave or if I'm lead kick the specific user causing the wipes or if it's a whole party thing, disband.

Take a deep breath, shake it off and get away from the game for an hour or so and then come back and try again.

But.... I am a nice person.... Not really used to being nasty till when people messed up during the run.
But not too nasty. Maybe like a frustrated sigh and why you messed up. D:

I have been farming sepex for 3 weeks for just one damn totem. I admit I was erked by the number of failures.
I admit also that after my clear I went to farming and I believe I did well. Not much deaths in those good runs and got 5 weapons.
Point of this post is how to get rid of dishonest non-cleared people in farm parties. If those who admitted to not clearing the dungeon and wanna try is fine by me if leader allows. Those who cleared but still did badly in runs is another issue. Thus, I suggested not only having a cleared option but also minimum number of clears for the same dungeon. The option would pop in PF if option lootmaster is selected and the maximum cap for the number of clears would be following the leader or the party or the maximum cap in the party.

Practice party is just a practice party. I went to a brand new learning party when I have cleared already. I taught them the mechanics and got to pinball in a short time. I believe they weren't carried at all. I chose to teach them. :)

The last four farm parties I've joined for Seph have been total failures. Last night I joined on WAR, a DRK joined, we got in, and it turns out the DRK wanted me to MT. Which, fine, but I needed to know ahead of time because I MT on pally.

That farm party was a bust. Then the next one was just as bad. I knew there was going to be a problem when the same DRK joined. They even admitted they usually bard the fight and that was why they wanted me to MT.

I think half the issue is people trying to farm on jobs that aren't their main, but once they have the clear, how do you know?
