Didnt see that post lol
i actually do hope not, tbh. There's enough PC/PS4 animosity as it i already. Enter the XBone and there will be enough drama betweeen XBone and PS4 useres filling chat for days. No thanks!
MS altered their policy to allow Xbox One to see 3rd party game servers and networks, they haven't actually done anything to support such things and have said that its up to developers to implement it in their games. What I haven't seen reported is anything about relaxing requirements on publishers to sell/distribute their DLC through XBL, nor anything to suggest that devs can patch game clients without MS doing their QA process. SE regularly does hot fix patches, and having to submit patches for full testing everytime would be a nightmare for SE, and everyone else, including PC and PS4 players who are just fine with hotfixes.
I never understood how from a business standpoint does halving the content (which players are in MMOs) make the closed off cross-consoles any more attractive. It kills any competition and just stagnates. Would people really care on what platform they play a cross-consoles game? Even if it ran better or had a bit better graphics? Would they switch consoles? Personally I wouldn't, if I buy a console it for the 1st party and 3rd party exclusive, multi-player being cross-platform with PCs would also make some mark as like I said, in multiplayer games players are contento too.
Oh boy, I can't wait for "xbone limitations" to be the new reason for why we can't have nice things.
I've never seen anyone speak ill of PS3/4 players on my server, or vice versa, unless it was to troll other people (which i don't count). People inflate this "problem" to be bigger than what it actually is. It's not like people just go out and shout out what system they're playing on, and it's not like other people genuinely care.
Phil Spencer said on twitter that he would be all for FFXIV on Xbox :)
Already discussed in another thread. As far as I know, they're still stuck on the Gold Membership problem. Microsoft insists that FFXIV players must be Gold Xbox Live members. SE insists that FFXIV players can't be required to pay an additional subscription fee on top of their FFXIV subscription (which Gold Membership requires--note that the PlayStation's premium service, PlayStation Plus, is not required to play FFXIV on the PS3 or PS4). Until they come to an agreement on this, nothing's happening.
Final Fantasy 11 (MMO) allowed cross-platform play between PC, Playstation 2, and Xbox 360.
It was Microsoft (Phil Spencer) that decided it didn't want FFXIV on the Xbox saying "Different kind of deals happen, and I know that's part of this business, and maybe it'll be my failing in the end," he says, laughing. "(In the case of third party games) it's not something I specifically embrace." It doesn't matter if he's changed his mind now. It's far too late in my opinion. He threw his chance away saying it's not something he's a huge fan of.

I think Jetstream_Fox is right about only a small graphical bump being the difference between those two versions if they came to be, what matters is the CPU. MMOs are pretty much always CPU bound and it would be the case here unless the devkits provide low level access to GPU and programmers can harness that to offload the CPU work.

Without having a trained eye you can't tell the difference at times when it comes to the graphics. Having both the systems, at times I can't even tell the difference if I'm watching someone play on a Xone or PS4. Any system that has come out in the past few years should have 0 problem getting this game to work unless they're running into OS problems, then that's more on the development team to not understand how to fine tune the game for whatever OS. This game is running on PS3 which is almost a decade old, and in terms of hardware at this point that is considered ancient, like the first model T going up against a 2016 luxury car. The only time the Xone would likely have issue is when a S rank spawns and it seems like the entire data center shows up for it. Even in cases like that the PS4 and even some PCs have difficulty handling all the effects and system load.
Not going to happen as long Microsoft want it to be tied to Xbox Live Gold.
It kills competition is the reason. If your friends play FF14 on the PS3 then you're going to buy a PS3 and not play with them on the XBOX. Consoles are closed platforms that are heavily controlled by the manufacturer. If you want to have a game on that platform then you need a 'license' from the manufacturer. While Sony let SE have cross platform play they have it tied into their authentication servers so as PS users will know you can't log onto FF14 if the PSN is down but if you're still on your fine; you dont really need PSN therefore. Sony likely get a cut of the base game and I'll bet a cut of the sub fee.
Closed platform play should be investigated as it's an antitrust issue as there's no legitimate reason they can't allow it.
Does that alter the statement about the number ofncores in the GPUs? No, it doesn't. You're making the same argument people make about upscaled video vs native video. This generation, it is undeniable that games on PS4 typically have better frame rates and resolution than 3rd party multiplatform games on Xbox One. That doesn't mean the Xbox One games are inferior or play worse, but it is a fact. Are you arguing the fact or attempting to claim it irrelevant? I very much doubt that any PC user would want to minimize the number of GPU cores, especially for two GPUs of the same architecture and generation.
I'd really rather not turn this topic into the usual religiuos war about consoles. There is zero argument about whether or not Xbox One is capable of running FFXIV, clearly it is. What difficulty remains is whether or not MS still demands Gold Membership, and whether or not SE can patch the game on their own schedule or not. If they cant, that impacts all players since you want client versions to be in lockstep. Those are issues that are not part of announcing that Xbox One will be allowed to see 3rd party game servers/networks, which ia all that was announced.
This is now, that was then. This is Xbox One, that was Xbox 360, this is now, that was when MS was desperate for a foothold in Japan, and would have spent/done anything to gain it.
And another was that XBox players couldn't play with PlayStation and PC players. Which would have meant FFXIV would run on Microsoft servers or something (like Chinese and Korean servers). If FFXIV were to come out on XBox One, Microsoft will have to do what Sony did and not require you to pay a subscription to play an MMO with its own subscription to play online.
Though I feel most XBox One players already have a Gold account, anyway.
With the new Mentor system, it'll finally be useful with the influx of new players from the Xbox side of things!
. . . if xbox ever happens.
I'm claiming that if anyone thinks that the Xbox couldn't run this game based off the slight hardware differences really has no idea what they're talking about. They wouldn't need to upscale it based off the current PS4 performance, which is on par with the PC. The issue with frame rate isn't even a issue based entirely on the system, it also takes the development team time to make sure the game is actually running soundly. We've seen more and more companies push games out way to soon which has lead to more and more performance issues, you don't need to look far here other than the Mac version of FF14. If SE actually took the time to release the proper info and make sure everything is in order then the Mac version wouldn't have flopped, all SE would have to do is intensively work on the Xbox version, if there is one, and the game would be perfectly fine.
As for requiring a subscription, I'm almost positive that every PS4 game requires PS Plus EXCEPT FF14. So the whole subscription based issue isn't really a issue unless Xbox makes it a issue. As for patching the game with my experiences the only people Microsoft can dictate patches and hotfixes is the Microsoft game studios and 343.
The Mac version is the PC version though as all it does is use a commercial wine-type product.
A gold subscription would be an issue as it would mean that people need two subscriptions to play FF14 on an XBox. What happens if you have 6 months of valid game time for FF14 and your gold sub runs out. Result: no FF14. There's no technical reason other than Microsoft being greedy.
All subscription based games, and any "free to play" games, do not require PS Plus.
So it's not JUST FFXIV. Games like Warframe and DCUO are also exempt from Plus.
Also some games, like Destiny, have restricted online access. Destiny players can play online for story missions without PS+
the only thing adding the xbox will do is include more immature louts and the excuse of "Xbox limitations." as the running gag of why we can't have things.

The door is open, but there is a bouncer with a metal bat guarding the door.
Not a metal bat, a nuclear powered rocket launcher. This IS Microsoft we're talking about and I'm someone who is heavily invested in the Microsoft ecosystem. They are the greediest of the 3 major console maker (MS, Sony, Nintendo). Indeed, they're greedier than the other 2 COMBINED.
I did say I didn't want to engage in the usual console vs console thing. I stated clearly that Xbox One could clearly run the game, what more need be said about hardware?
Nope, not true, it's up to the publisher/developer.Quote:

Yes, indeed, it's currently an issue for Xbox. It has in fact been one of the problems in getting ffxiv on Xbox One from the start.Quote:

Not sure how you reckon that, any game patch or DLC that runs within the walled garden, or comes from an XBL server has been through MS QA and certifcation. You can choose to believe otherwise, but you'd be wrong.Quote:

Oh, and just to state the obvious any game on PS4 thst works within PSN requiring PS Plus have almost identical QA/testing/certification.
