If you have or don't find the old i170's hard to get it's all useless. Nice gesture, but ultimately nothing's changed. And there's no new mats or favors (still waiting on azys lla).

Maybe they convert to Grade V's with a higher % since they are ilv 180. I thought there would be a better avenue to get Grade V Crafting Materia, but so far I haven't seen any :(

Not surprised at all. This is exactly what I expected. Common sense dictates they would follow the same pattern they did with the previous scrip gear - Decent base stats, Unmeldable, but beaten by fully melded HQ Crafted gear. Im surprised people expected something different. The HQ crafted gear will have to remain BiS - it wouldnt make sense for it not to be.

This is...really strange, at least given what they told us about some of their goals for the scrip system pre-HW.
As far as I can figure, it's impossible to meet the minimums for 3-star crafting using i180 gear—you have to meld, unless I'm missing something obvious. They told us one of the points of the Scrip system was to give less hardcore crafters a method by which to gear up over time without having to meld, but the system seems to have taken a turn here.
Looks like I'll have to sit down, make the i170 stuff, and pentameld everything I have. -

You can barely meet the requirements if you go full 180, specialize for the 20/20 bonus, and also eat HQ Beet Soup. This restricts you to 372 CP however.

It's basicly a lie. They said new gear for pve and they got 220 230 240 and 245 ilvl gear. Pvp got new 205's that turn to 240's. Crafting/Gathering got no new tier of gear just an offhand and jewelry to extend the current ilvl and scheme. So new gear yes.. New tier like the rest of there game NO.

I should also point out that if you're able to gather at all, that experimenting with 3-star is significantly cheaper and easier to do than experimenting with 2 star (For Eikon metal at least).
Run your daily roulettes, use a King's Yield 2 gathering attempt on the metal, and bam. 5 3 star material crafts to play around with. If you can complete it with 5k quality, you can 100% it with HQ mats. (-1 per extra 1k) -

Not only they are convertible. Honestly, the off-hands aren`t half bad if you intend to use em for your non-specialists, actually, with the release of specialist restrictions on many nice items that still sell for glamour reasons, investing 26 red scripts to get a sweet boost into the 2 star crafting realm isn`t really a bad choice.
Now the accesories on the other hand... Not even to soulbound are worth xD -

Even the 150 accessories are 10 times better than these 180 ones and anyone who buys these 180 accessories isn't very smart. That's all I can think to say on it, really.
The offhands are fine though I guess, albeit overpriced at 3 weeks of scrips. -
