Melded crafted HQ iL170 gear will be better than this new gear.
But maybe converting the 3 scrip rings will produce grade V materia??

If you have or don't find the old i170's hard to get it's all useless. Nice gesture, but ultimately nothing's changed. And there's no new mats or favors (still waiting on azys lla).

I expected them to add about two materia slots to the new IL180 accessories, but prevent them from getting any forbidden melds. At this point a single CP materia on any of the IL170 accessories is just immediately better than the new stuff.

For someone like yourself that's not going all out the new offhands are a similar investment to the scrip left side gear; better than an unmelded 170 offhand but not a fully melded one.

Maybe they convert to Grade V's with a higher % since they are ilv 180. I thought there would be a better avenue to get Grade V Crafting Materia, but so far I haven't seen any

Common sense dictates they would follow the same pattern they did with the previous scrip gear - Decent base stats, Unmeldable, but beaten by fully melded HQ Crafted gear. Im surprised people expected something different. The HQ crafted gear will have to remain BiS - it wouldnt make sense for it not to be.

except the newly added 180 accessories are garbage stats, unmeldable, and beaten by a single melded HQ i110 crafted gear. so people expected better is not surprised
