SE Please remove all specialist locked recipies

Please remove all specialist locked recipes.

The lockout is unhealthy (creates micro monopolies), limits the amount of time and things crafters can do without creating an alternate account (which is INSANE), its fundamentally not fun given a game design which lets us flip combat classes how ever we like but then were auto locked in our crafting (that makes no sense at all), it literally punishes those of us who geared all of our crafters up, only to have five of them locked out from doing anything useful.

You are pushing a game design on your players which is just upsetting. The design is crappy, and its a slap in the face. My FC went from having dozens of people out crafting every day to literally NO one but me during the red script mess. Now people are trickling back, but I don't have anything promising to tell any of them because you guys keep mucking up decisions and leaving us out to dry.

I've had to create a freaking spreadsheet to keep track of our specialist and try to push people into (quite frankly, piss poor specialties) so that we actually have coverage. Because you haven't made the system ANY easier for new players to break into. You've just taken the dedicated crafters and people who enjoyed the free open crafting system in 2.x and fragmented them.

You guys need to SERIOUSLY rethink the crafting system and ask whats fun. Because you're missing the mark by a freaking mile. You're just taking what used to be a complicated working system, and making it into a disparate mess, with complicated parts that aren't used. Recipes which fall into immediate uselessness. And make an all ready difficult system even less accessible.

What bothers me most is that materials required for something are specialist only recipeds of another class. If this weren't the case I would not any problems with the system.

Fully agree with you. I had three char so that I could cover all 8 specialist but logging in and out got old to craft something. Now I just play on one char as I got tried of keeping three chars up to date just to craft which is my end game. Some players end game is raiding. Mine is crafting. In my FC we lost another person today that told me they were leaving the game cause they could not craft as the wanted because of specialist. Not the first to leave and I doubt the last to leave.

I saw this for my leatherworking, which apparently is going to require alchemy again... so apparently I need to drop goldsmithing. But then I saw parts are requiring the core blacksmiths too. /sigh such BS

Totally agree with the OP,an it seems like they will unlock specialist after each big patch, just look at the relic items, after ppl expend so much gil they unlock it at the end..they talking the fun out of crafting..an I really wanted to try crafted gear this patch...very bad move again SE..

I totally disagree with the idea of removing it. I think the market seems pretty fair this way.

Camphor from ALC is not a specialist recipe so you just need the book to make the LTW stuff. Also, invest in soul stones and this whole thing becomes less of a problem. What else are you going to do with your red scrips?

I been a omnicrafter since Realm Reborn, i love crafting armor and accessories to my fellow free company members but now to do certain armor pieces or house furnishing i will have to rely on Adamantoise server Specialist. The red scrips ruined the game for me personally. I still don't understand the red scrips gathering materials to make adamantite ingots or griffin leather. This patch 3.2 inspired me again to craft again but i have no clue how to start some of my classes i have my 180 so far i am a Armorer, Weaver specialist. I find it ridiculous that Blacksmith has 1 Specialist recipe so i can make a plate for Armorer, No new weapons for Blacksmith. It's a slap to the face of crafters. Also why the red scrips cap weekly so low? it cost 480 scrips to change specialist but you can only get 450 per week. I think they should remove or at least increase weekly cap to 1200 red scrips & decrease the amount of 80 red scrips to change specialist.

i want them to keep it or remove it not turn it on for current new stuff then off when things become old

Agreed. Totally annoying systems that drops the fair dispute in the market with all crafters competing on equal foot in favor of making it easy, in a spoiled way, to sell your goods on MB by brushing off crafters that have chosen other Specialist classes.

People might argue that this happens the other way around too but it benefits only those people choosing to gear specific crafting classes only instead of all 8 classes. In turn this makes worthless all the effort people that geared all their 8 classes with i170 crafted gear put on it.

I don't even see why the "specialist" is necessary when the craftable three star items have such high stat requirements that the only way to even be allowed to craft them is to have the class specific crafting (two star) or red scrip gear. The class specific crafting gear is a big enough barrier for most people anyways to keep them from being omni-crafters. It would just be nice to know that with the right amount of work, I would be able to craft something I'm not specialized for. If someone is willing to invest the time and gil into getting the best crafting gear for a crafting class, they should be allowed to craft what they're gearing up for.

Initially I THOUGHT this is what they had done and went on a seriously bent mission to find out if you could hit the stats as a non-specialist and concluded the requirements were VERY stiff for non-specialist. After I found out all the recipies were locked and pretty much threw a fit, lmao.

How do you define "fair value"? A couple hundred Gil? Cost of materials, plus a little something? Ten times the cost of materials, just to ensure a profit margin? Somewhere in between?

Do you consider it fair to reduce competition? How is that fair to the buyer, who has to pay a much higher price for the goods sought due to that lack of competition?

Specialist-Only recipes hurt the market. They do not help the market, though they do help some to line their pockets.

But it's good for the economy! -- No, it isn't, you either have everyone flocking to the coolest of cool items locked behind specialist which then makes them be undercut to crap, or you have outrageously high prices on those that went and chose the hipster recipes, and guess what, they barely move - Which by the way, most of those on hipster specialist roles are actually alts of the previously... oh-so-horrible-omnicrafter... who funnily enough is still in his oh-so-nasty position only now he had to level an alt which he probably already had. - How is that better, enabling a few hipsters a monopoly on their limitation choice while everyone else is flooding the cool market, and to be honest how is that better than before, too, if anything it accentuates the so-called problem even more than before by introducing a whole other set of problems on top of it.

End result at level 60 crafting: Omnicraft dude makes less money or money at a way slower rate now, and average guy makes no money or less money as before. Money in circulation is less, products being moved of value is less, saturation of items everybody chose increases and means more competition, less money again. The one plus is the one guy between them two which might make similar money as before.

So what does this solve... nothing... at least before that one average new individual could progress to that individual omnicrafter guys character level in crafting. Now, the omnidude has leveled alts, to get to his old terribly evil demon position... so why does this system even exist if all it does is prevent everyone being on the same race track, the nasty demon violator omnidude has just made a race track alongside it to circumvent this. Anyone can do the same, but that just again begs the question... why is it here if the end result is one individual on many characters belonging to that one individual making items as opposed to what it was before one individual on one character making items.

Apologies if that doesn't make much sense, not really good at putting thoughts and whatever into words properly... I guess.

They removed all of the locks for 3.0 and 3.1.
They will remove the current 3.2 locks at patch 3.3, or to be honest, whenever they dang well please.

Functioning as designed, and I am grateful for how it works right now.

Well if they do whatever they dang please rather than what players actually have fun doing... they'll end up with less players overall. 2.x also functioned as designed... without specialist.

If they actually made the specialist thing what it was originally purposed for instead of what it ended up being, things would be better for everyone, literally.

Indeed, by making them overpriced as hell in the MB and the general buyer don't being able to buy it. The way I see is a stagnated market for months or the game flood with RTM in next days.

I never been interested in gil, I only like to work for my own things an help others that can't or don't like to craft, SE took that with this system...
I don't see new players being able to buy the new items anytime soon.. since they selling way overprice we talking about the millions for something so cheap to craft,(some eso items an 1* gathering) yes the 3*...this is a welcome system for a new or casual player?, not even close..

People shouldn't be expected to level 3 alts to Heavensward and gear them for 3-stars in order to "adapt." That's the best way to alienate your casual crafting base, and your argument flies in the face of what Specialist was meant to be.

Exactly, specs aren't 'meant to be' omni-crafters, 'casual' players shouldnt have the time and resources to be a true omni-crafter.

Endgame is not meant to be wholly accessable to the guy who pokes his head in for 30 mins a day.

Adapt how? make alts characters for crafting? Please explain show me the steps on how to adapt? i am struggling here, even with other specialist being involved can't rely on them making it HQ, or even getting enough stats to craft the specialized item.

That's what my wife and I did, mainly using GC turn-ins and leves, with our mains crafting the turn-ins.

Since our alts have their own L8 FC (with Medium house :) ) that is not the FC our mains are in, mailing the items back and forth was a minor pain, but since it was my wife and I doing it together, it was manageable. Took about three months I think.

It's funny i do have an alt that i started leveling in crafting a long time ago didn't go that far lol. I am willing to adapt but i need help in how? What i should do? Me and a FC friend trying to progress but we are confused about red scrips to gather materials so we can craft items. Example getting purified coke to make a ingot.

The thing that I don't understand whatso ever of the people who support specialist is that nothing the specialist system does is inviting to newer crafters, with one exception they can do X which the core FC crafter does and not be overshadowed by them. But I don't hear this as the supporting point by ANY of the people who say the like the specialist system. Instead they claim a bunch of incorrect things (or don't say anything).

I'm under the assumption the people not stating reasons as Mr. 2000's post eludes to, is they like the system because they win out because they're willing to create crafting alts. And that's just a piss poor reason to "support" this shoddy specialist system. Its so crappy these people don't bother to mention this little fact... and instead act snide and holier than though art.

Sorry just annoys the poop out of me when a game which encourages you to NOT change characters, suddenly implements a whole system which does the opposite. That's really freaking logical... If SE really cared about this system then they would block alts from having specializations different than the other characters on the server. But clearly they don't... they're just too embarrassed to scrap the specialist system and tell us they screwed up.

I have five alts all at level 50 with MSQ completed up to 2.0. I've had them there for a long time. It wouldn't take me much more effort to get them to level 60 in crafts.

But they're staying there. I don't support this because of alts. I support this for the reasons I've stated. I like the system for what it is.

Yup, im done with crafting. Those of you who like specialist recipes only might not see a problem, but this was supposed to bring more people into it. I have not seen one person pick up crafting because of it, only stop.

I think the core problem is that the original design goal for Specialists (as stated in the pre-heavensward live letters) was to make it so that crafters didn't have to be omni-crafters to be effective. Essentially, specialist actions were supposed to replace cross-class skills, but slightly less effectively, so if a player just wanted to level up leatherworking they could do so. They'd be less effective than an omni-crafter, but they wouldn't be *entirely ineffective* as is currently the case. Unfortunately, specialist skills didn't deliver as promised... like, not even remotely. I think at some point, the design goal for specialist changed from "Let's weaken the advantage omni-crafters have over single-skill crafters by giving single-skill crafters a boost" to "let's make it so that no one, no matter how good they are, can make everything, because that's the only realistic way we're going to knock omni-crafters out of their top spot." Rather than creating competition, they chose to create forced inter-dependency.

Anyone who remembers 1.0 should know how that ends... it ends with a lot of people not being able to make anything, and the few people who can either coordinate with friends/guildies or get multiple characters up high enough to craft monopolizing everything instead. In other words, it has exactly the opposite effect as what was originally intended. Honestly, yes, I do think specialist-locked recipes need to go away. If specialist isn't compelling enough without locked recipes, address the actual culprit, which is the RNG-centric, completely-not-useful skills you get for specializing. Go back to making the skills the reason you specialize, and make the skills actually useful, and actually able to fill the gaps left by not having cross-class skills available. Then you'll lower the barrier to entry for crafting, increase competition, and have a healthier game economy.

I have no clue why some like the specialist with locking out 5 of your 8 crafts in 3.0. Makes no sense. 2.0 we could all craft and the MB did very nicely on Behemoth, it is a stagnant mess in 3.0. I have over time leveled 3 chars on my two accounts. I have all 8 specialists covered with one soul of the crafter left over, all you have done is waste my time and failed to help the MB. Never going to end the true omni crafter and when you find a way, I will be long gone from this game that decides certain content should be restricted, the longer I have done this the more I have lost interest in the game. Log in, log out, change chars is getting old. This system can be beat and I have done it and lost most all interest in the game. Way to go trying to lock content and the end result is an easy work around that in the end makes the play feel this has gone from a game to a job. It feels like a job and I am not into doing that for fun after hours.

I agree specialists should be removed. One of the main draws to me of this game was to be able to do everything on one character and this completely undermines that.

2.0 crafting was very well made. This specialist system makes crafting feel like more of a chore. It's getting old trying to force gates behind content that all that require is more grind to do the same thing.

This is a game, and a game is meant to be fun, not a job. If the endgame isn't wholly accessable [sic] to that guy he's not going to continue playing.
