Dear Yoshidasan,
There is something broken about the loot system on the Ifrit Battle (Hard). I am 0/10 on weapon drops, when my ls mate is 3/10... including 1 axe that he dropped because of the rare/ex status. Can you explain to me how this system is fair or even logical?:confused:
If this system continues to wager on in the new primal battles, I'm afraid that I will have to unsubscribe till this system is revamped. All that hard work to beat Ifrit seems wasted if there is no reward at the end. :(

Yes... I did have the lamp every time. My LW almost gained a lvl because of the xp rewards. :D I have used up 50 key items so far... though those are easy enough to farm in spirit bind parties.

Yoshida: Currently that is pretty much what we had in mind, so it’s not a bug. Because the hard mode can be played by everyone, it depends if you have the lamp or not. If you have the Inferno Lamp when you go in, it means you have a chance to get a drop. And If you don’t, it means you’re just helping and you won’t get that drop. So it looks at each player and checks for the lamp and if they have the lamp then it will randomly choose the drop and it’ll give it to each player, so it’s chosen by each player rather than the whole group. There was a lot of talk within the development team whether to look at the class and say OK if it’s this class then they only get this item or it doesn’t look at the class and gives the random item. They went with not basing it on the class because they felt that with the armory system and the way it’s set up now, players probably play a lot of different classes and might not be participating in the Ifrit battle on whatever they consider to be their main job. For example, you might really be a Lancer but because of what the party needs, you went as Gladiator. We didn’t want to penalize that player by not giving them a chance at what they really want. But that doesn’t mean it’s a perfect system. We know that players have started complaining about it. We are moving towards having a system that is closer to the need/greed system like WoW uses. Where players can… if they’re that class they can “need” it, or “greed” it if they want to use it for another class and the “needs” will get precedence over it. We’re finding out how we want to adjust that system and fit it towards FFXIV. Before we do that, we want the opinions of the community on what they feel would be the best type of loot system.

I'm 2/16 only drops were the con cane. Which means 1 got trashed because you can only hold one. Id gladly trade the 2nd for a melee weapon if I could....

yoshi thinks we want a wow type need/greed system? why not do it the easy way and say to enter the fight you must have the lamp and then each person gets the item in their loot box and has the option to toss or keep their item?
having people in our party have to drop an item that someone else in the party needs, but cannot give it to them is stupid. -

Make the loot go to someone and then have that person pass it to whoever needs it. Just make it a general drop and not if everyone has a lamp. -

Options. We need:
Master Looter - master looter gets all the items that drop and the master looter can pass to anyone he desires within a certain time frame. Say 5 min~ is about right. Also since most items that drop from NM's are rare/exc, if the master looter accidentally gives the item/items to the wrong person, that person should be able to trade it the correct person within the allotted time frame. This is so if any mistakes happen it can easily be corrected.
Need/Greed - only good in my opinion if it is a pick up group or if your group agrees on this system ahead of time. -

This is by far the worst loot system I've ever seen in a MMO, never have I seen so much loot go to waste cause it falls to people who doesnt want or cant use the weapons without them having an option to give them away to the ones who actualy need them.
Reading the interviews about it being decision the dev seemed happy with made me loose quite a chunk of faith in the future of XIVs end game.
I'd rather have a 1% drop rate on weapons but have them be tradeable to thoose who attended the fight then this any day.
All thoose grade5 Dark Matter stacking up is like a huge slap in the face on top of that. -

All I care for is getting at least a master looter option, for the rest I could care less if we get a need or greed, lot system or round robin in conjunction with ml.
Frankly any system is better then the one we have now, ifrit fight or otherwise, XI's loot system wasnt anything great but even that was leaps and bounds better then XIVs. -

Each kill gives 1 fire medal, 20 fire medals allows you to buy a weapon. Pretty much keeps the replayability intact while not screwing you over due to bad luck.

I was 0/30ish before I got my 1st drop too and one of my teammate was 0/40ish before 1st loot. I think SE make it this way to keep u busy before 1.20 come out. Yeah, to prevent u from complaining about they delay on patch since u will be busy with loot and got no time to play with forum this way>_<

My LS has been keeping track of stats, unfortunately we haven't been keeping track of 1, 2 or, zero horns being broken, but here is what our drop rate is looking like. I find it absolutely ridiculous that the zero drop rate is this high. To note, we almost always have 1 horn broken (if horns even effect drop rate); rarely having both broken.

This does track double drops, but even more eye opening are the attendance to item ratio. Some people coming just a couple of times and already getting what they want while others have near perfect attendance and don't have what they want nor as much.

Either that or make the weapons drop for the class your'e currently on, I do NOT need an Ifrit weapon for a rank 30 class I never intend to level, most people will do the fight on main classes and once they excel at it, its realy not that hard to swap around classes and setups.
I'd rather get a Dark matter then a useless weapon which acts as nothing but a slap in the face for a LS friend who might need it. -

Open the chest, have the item go do the loot list of the player so it can be distributed from there. Also increase this abysmal drop rate. It's fucking ridiculous.

Make the Inferno Lamp a requirement to attempt the fight rather than an optional key item for drops and make the weapons drop under a normal loot system instead of having us waste weapons we don't want.

The current loot system is in place so that the content lasts longer. It has nothing to do with a bad loot system, the change was intentional to hold us over. If this wasn't the case the majority of players would be done with Ifrit already and everyone would be standing around doing nothing again.
Whether or not you agree with their decision is neither here nor there. Fact is, loot works as intended to extend the shelf life of the encounter. Nothing more, nothing less.
In the future I see a better loot system as a fair implementation. As it stands now, this is specifically in place to hold over the more ambitious player, whereas the casual player will conquer this content and receive their reward at a later date. -

If they truely wanted to extend the life of the encounter they should have had Ifrit drop 1 token for each kill and then you could buy the weapon you wanted from a vendor for say 10-20 tokens.

My tally so far is 6-40 on loot.
However, that breaks down to 3 swords, 2 canes, and 1 axe.
Why is it so hard to see if you have the weapon before giving you another one, and god forbid someone else in party can get it.
