Be still my heart, does this mean I will be able to move my character forward by holding down both mouse buttons like almost every game on the planet made since 1993. :)
Let us hope so, because I have not had to use WASD since the late 80's and really don't want to go back to that era.
I have 24 programmable buttons on my mouse and it would be nice to use just one of them.
Currently I can do everything in a raid in EQ with one hand on the mouse and a scotch and water in the other, and that is in a game that is over a decade old!

This annoys me too. I have just come back with the latest patch and I keep hitting my two mouse keys to go forward and it doesn't work. :/
Another movement issue; If I am running why do D and A strafe? It should be a left and right turn, Q and E are always the strafe keys in every other game. So you need two hands to run in this game with a keyboard and mouse, which is not logical.
If I put it on auto run, I can turn left and right normally. Just make the default like the auto run, it is more intuitive. -

There is nothing wrong with the way the keyboard is used now. It allows you NOT to have to use a mouse, which some people, including me, like.
I wouldn't mind adding some options for mouse users, but wouldn't like this to be changed at all since it is working. -

Mac/Apple mice in the 80 had one button, but that was one more than PC mice? Get your facts straight, PC mice existed all through the 80s, and they weren't withouth buttons...

I prefer mice with two side buttons. In MMOs I usually program these for autorun and jump (if the game has jumping). I've never had problems configuring my mice in other games, so for me, this is pretty much a *must have* in FFXIV too, since I'm so used to it. At least, having to use the keyboard to move, is an absolute no-no in the long run, at least for me. -

The few DOS Runtimes like edit.com and doshelp.com used the mouse but for the most part the left other buttons but the primary button unused. So thru out the 80s the mice was simply seen as an "optional" accessory... It wasn't until the early 90s with the release of windows 3.x that mice on the PC became a norm. And they always (or almost always) shipped with two button mice. Yet the Windows 3 shell (Program manager or progmon.exe as I recall) didn't take advantage of the second button.Quote:

I am a computer gamer (wielding keyboard and mouse) I think the current UI could be fine with some very simple tweaks
1. The buttons being responsive and quick : The current ones lags a little bit
2. Having all configurations and settings putting into ONE window (maybe with different tab) so I dont have to look among all those text to find the option I need
3. Whats the point to have "inventory" "gear" and "bag" with three different entry points? Can they be combined and simplified?
4. Can I drag my macro button onto my Action bar? They are kind of the same thing to me and I don't know why I have to go to two places for it
5. Drag and right click? This is probably the most efficient way of interacting with a mouse in hand... It is just very odd when I see a treasure box on screen I have to go to my right menu to open it...
You see all of these really don't require that much of graphical change to the current UI... that the screen is still clean with a lot of viewable area. They just need to organize it in an simpler and smarter way...I admit I used to play FFXI for a very long time and I compromised myself to that odd interface but I am over that phase now, NO MORE ANNOYING "Dings" tabbing through endless menus please! -
