Whoever thought it was a cool idea to make the ground explode three seconds after they appear is a bloody git that deserves to be thrown out of the dev team.
They failed to account for lag issues - both human and technical. A lot of my teammates said they were outside of the AOE zones for the ground explosions/bursts, and they STILL got hit or incapacitated. The worst part is that the bursts get us while we're LOCKED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN ANIMATION. Thus, preventing us from evading for at least two seconds. Which is too long compared to the amount of time you're given to evade the burst.
Right as I fire off Doomspike 2, the groundburst of doom appears, and I'm unable to evade because of the animation lock. This. Is. Infuriating. Even Diversion is useless against this.
I'm not going to bother trying to beat Ifrit (Hard Mode) until these issues are resolved.
Yoshi-P, please implement a TEST SERVER so that us Westerners can properly test your client and instances for you, so we don't have to put up with this horsecrap in live.

The timer on the explosions would be no problem if the combat wasn't so slow. With all of the spell animations you basically have to hope you don't get caught mid animation when he casts that spell.

Wait for explosions to happen, move out and then ws/tp, he can't use it back to back. Have your eyes on the chat log and wait for ifrit readies eruption and run like hell.

Just another example of why this game and the V2 of this game will fall flat on its face. the dev team, while ambitious, consistently releases messed up patches without ever properly testing things. the Powerleveling is still ridiculous and this is a joke. I know its easy to get around it but it shouldnt have to be. Issues like these should just not exist.

Part of the fight is timing your skills so you don't get animation locked. I rarely, if ever, have a problem dodging cracks when I'm not stuck in the middle of an animation.

Although the engine sucks, and yes, the client<->server communication needs to be fixed, it is completely within the player's control to accommodate for Ifrit's abilities in a way that completely removes luck from the equation. All you need to do is count the seconds between abilities and recognize how to deal with each ability.

When he is about to use a weaponskill, everyone besides the tank, must sit there and do nothing. This allows you enough time to react to anything he does and avoid it. Then you can use a WS/Buffs/Other stuff until Ifrit has his timer up to use a WS again.

Phase 3: Timer is 10s
Phase 4: Timer is 15s

(well I might be off but Phase 5 you don't even have enough time to buff + WS before you must wait... 3 buffs is all I'd attempt to lock myself before watching for Ifrit or 1 WS no buffs)
Also to note, breath and explosion can be used immediately after Voids / Plume but the next WS after them will follow this pattern.
Ifrit fight, again, is not luck. Its about doing nothing. -

For example if ifrits moves are analyzed to the point can have an addon with timers so you will know when hes going to use a special attack and the addon will make a loud noise to alert you so you know not to be doing stuff and be ready do dodge whatever it is. -

WoW's combat is so fast paced that it's nearly impossible to pay attention to everything based on watching the boss. It's not like XI and XIV where you just stand around between spell casts. You're chaining spells as soon as the last stops.
It would be stupid in a game like XI where you didn't need it. Bosses used abilities what, every 30 seconds or so? The only fight I can think of where it would have been useful was Kirin, "Astral Flow in 5 seconds, run away!" Even then, it wasn't needed because you could eyeball his health and pretty much prepare for it coming. -

You can tell when Ifrit is dropping nails, and you can tell when the ground is about to blow up. Stuff like that doesn't usually have notifications in WoW. Some fights do, some don't. Typically, if you're standing in fire or something, you're not paying attention, and DBM doesn't say to run out of it because it's not a major mechanic.
Another thing it's useful for is when you're fighting a boss with pets or something. The only thing in XI I could think of that was like this was Kirin with the lesser gods. You simply cannot account for 3-4 bosses at once when you're not focusing on them. It just really depends which kind of style you like better. -

Even a boss addon like this doesn't make the games easy.
For example the hardest fight in WoW currently is Heroic Ragnaros which by last week only 2376 players have killed it and WoW has about 9m players which is 0.0002% of the people who play the game killed this boss. Just because you have timers for moves and alerts to incoming attacks still means you have to execute the fight correctly or you won't win. -
