It won't be long till this will be the next FF11. They literally tried to copy FF11 with their relic weapon quests only they made it boring as hell. Let's be honest. It's great that they're thinking of giving you something to work to when there's a lack of content, but the way it's done is wrong.
You could attack me that I'm wrong and I should just unistall my life and kill myself, cause atleast one of the grind fanatics will do that. Yoshi-p said himself in a interview that he wouldn't have done the atma step himself, so why is it returning? If you wouldn't do something yourself, why do you add it to the game? This is poorly thought of and he just didn't have any creativity to do it himself. For a single step you're doing a full Zeta questline, just to keep you busy?
To me it looks like yoshi-p is running out of ideas. Why didn't he copy that one thing that made 1.0 really great. The relic quest. That quest took a pretty long time, there was a cooldown before you could continue at one part. Why wouldn't this have been a option?
Does it annoy me that there is a new meaningless grind? Yes. Why? There is no creativity in it. People can claim what they want, but this relic quest has zero creativity.
And yes, I've read the steps for doing it. It's a pointless piece of content that 95% of the playerbase won't touch.
The lack of creativity annoys me so much...

95% of the playerbase won't touch? Are you playing the same game? On the server I play the quest giver for relics are filled with people around them and see nothing but PF entries for different parts of the relic grind.

Atma was by far the worst stage of the previous relic. Grinding for hours on end with nothing to show for it just really sours a mood.

XI's relic system was leaps and bounds better than XIV's. The only similarity in my mind are the names they're using for the weapons. I would rather have a marquee weapon that is so hard to obtain groups of people had to finish one in their entire group (that took forever to do just a single one), but the weapon was game changing, than a basic grind fest for a weapon that has an equivalent and probably better each patch.
XIV's and XI relics are similar only in name.
XIV Relic = A weapon for either a) people that aren't good enough/can't find good enough friends to complete raid content or b) want something to glamour, as the relics typically have a better aesthetic. -

Personally the Anima quests are mostly what I was expecting. Only the last quest was a shock.
