Hey guys, ok hear me out first. Basically will a little imbalance in final fantasy 14 really hurt? as the title states Meaning let players grind out for a really rare weapon or rare gear set that have special effects in them. Now players will have to grind for that weapon or gear for like 1 to 2 to even 3 months but once accomplished you have a very unique item that most casual players or even a lot of hardcore players wont grind that much for. This also allows SE time to produce for content before players become bored with the game.
I mean look at it like this player titiana butterfly who mains mnk would love to show off her/his new weapon fist of fury with a rare skill that allow her to push out just a little more dps then other monks.
Tell me what you guys think :cool:

The point isn't to make imbalance for the sake of imbalance. The goal is to make variety and interesting complex systems to make gameplay that can be mixed up. IE: Dota 2 works hard to balance all of it's 100+ characters, but each one can be played in their own unique way. This can change the meta of the game just by depending on which heros get chosen.
With SE's system you are stuck with dodge the mechanics cause the game is very rigid, allowing very little leeway in both fight mechanics, but as well as class design and itemization. SE doesn't want to experiment and make mistakes, so they take the safest and most boring route possible. Heck, their general game design suffers because of this greatly... as we can see with 3.0/3.1 being pretty much a copy of 2.0-2.55. Well, that or they think they can churn out the same thing forever. -

12-15-2015, 03:57 PMLambdafishTo be fair, I think SE has done a good job in making sure that XIV isnt like world of warcraft, the game feels fresh in comparison to other MMOs I have played, and I feel that the dev team have done well in this regard. I was simply using WoW as an example of a game that is a lot closer to XIV than XI, and that we should be looking at games like that (or GW2, or other MMOs on the market), and not wishing this game was XIQuote:
