30 min to 1 hour Tank queues for Void Ark

But seriously jokes aside, I'm actually quite surprised. I thought the composition was the same as WoD and therefore the queue times would be...normalish?

Good news for DPS though :D (Unless their queues are also horrid at which case D: )

DPS queues are excellent. This morning I tried to queue in as a tank. 30+ minutes. Switched to my ninja. Got in under 5 minutes. I was shocked. I am guessing the healer queue are still normal.

Honestly that's hilarious lol. Yeah I'm kinda screwed (I have 4 jobs at 60, 2 tanks and 2 healers, and only DRK is ilvl 175. Yes I am bad), but it is still hilarious.

Stuck working ATM, but are the parties no longer 2 tanks, 2 healers, 4 DPS?

If that was just the tank queues, but the reservation times are absurd, 37mins now and still going. -.-

No, their solution to DPS complaints about Q times is to reduce the number of tanks needed to 1 - at least in Void Ark and parts of Crystal Tower. I really hate to tell them this, but in the long run, this is just one more factor that alienates people who actually enjoy playing tank.

Did not like the new dungeon, after the second boss I left , the new dungeon was very annoying that gave me sleep

I also noticed people leaving at or after the second boss. Have people already figured out the loot drops on day 1? How?

Look back at Labrynth and tell me how often having 6 tanks in the group was useful (very little). There was absolutely no point to 6 tanks in that dungeon except the first boss, and for them to play "click the towers" in Behemoth. For most fights, having that many tanks was completely superfluous. SE probably decided that it was smarter to just add 3 tanks for 24 person fights, because you didn't need the other 3 for the majority of fights inside the dungeon. I'd rather have less tanks than have fights centered around 6 tanks, giving them menial tasks like push a button, or purposely having them getting caught by the Death Claws.

Can't be that hard to come up with a mass battle with 6 Bosses simultaneously splitting the 6 tanks 6 ways.

Can you say with a straight face that you expect 6 DUTY FINDER tanks to coordinate and pick an ad each when 90% of the time, you can't even do it with 3 because they're all fighting for agro on the main boss?

Taking that aside, I agree that a fight like that would be pretty cool, but like I said in my last post, look at all the instances in Labrynth were tanks were given menial chores during a fight because the devs couldn't find interesting ways to incorporate 6 tanks into one boss fight.

yup. first boss of CT when CT was relevant was the most fun as a tank, it got much worse when they reduced the number down to 3.

You didn't need all 5 tanks to pick up adds, they only spawned 3 at a time, and a DPS or healer could easily tank them as they did no damage (yes, even when CT was relevant content). Getting anyone to do anything correctly in CT was a nightmare in itself. Shifting the responsibility onto only 3 tanks makes it easier to pinpoint who's messing up and how to fix it. It's better now with 3 than it was with 6, but it does turn people away from tanking 24mans if the queues are 30min - 1hr.

6 tanks in a 24 man raid was completely unnecessary and ultimately just led to a lot of asshattery cause nobody wanted to OT.

1 tank per alliance is all you really need. Look at it this way - you are guaranteed to get whatever tank gear drops.

Well if you do get into the q as a tank, you are 100% on getting the tank gear that drops.

I'm sure it is annoying though if it's the first time you've experienced the joy of the Duty Finder deadzone.

LOL no, I can't people couldn't even figure out the bone dragon, and my God the insanity of KB if the MT fell....Your point is well made. Even so, it would be nice if they actually figured our how to design content with damage dealers, Healers and tanks all in mind. They did after all decide to go with the 'trinity'. So it behooves them to try harder to make content that actually uses tanks, instead of making them behave like a poor man's DPS.

LOL, you have no idea how many times I ran CT and no one wanted to MT KB, it was a litmus test for players who really wanted to be a tank. Personally I found MT in that pretty straightforward (except the first time when I stood too close to a whirlwind and got buzz-sawed in half....

Seriously though, I understand the reasoning and the point, even though I wish SE could do a better job balancing their content for the Trinity they decided to stick with...and besides within a few weeks, it will be back to the norm of instant Q for Tanks & healers

But it was, you also had the try hard PLDs who want to tank everything so they feel like their full vit build was useful somehow, so theyd try to grab all the adds and therefor theyd all be killed on the same spot.
Fighting for aggro was a pain.

Also look at it this way, with only one tank per party needed you now have 5 dps who get close to insta queues now, as opposed to when tanks are in short supply those 5 dps would be waiting 30 mins for their queues, so tell me whats better 2 people (tanks) having insta queues or 5 people (the dps) having insta queues.
Us tanks always have it good doesnt hurt to let the dps have some fun too sometimes

Much easier to team up with 2 other people than 5 on who gets what. And it also lets more people who play dps to get into queue. Its a win win.

Notice I said nobody wanted to OT. That was the problem. Too many people wanted to MT because, let's face it, it's the easiest role in there. The only reason KB was an exception is because people are inherently lazy. Given the choice between MT'ing the boss or watching Netflix and clicking a button every so often for the same reward, 9 out of 10 people will go stand at the tower.

Bone Dragon always had 2-3 tanks fighting over hate on the boss and at least 1 that would provoke skeletons off other tanks.

A 6 tank setup 100% not needed for Duty Finder content.

Not really much of a win when tanks need to wait 30 minutes to an HOUR just to get in.... I really want to work on my WAR this patch but damn, these queues are killing me. And no that isn't an exaggeration, I have waited a full 60 minutes to get in. That's way too long.....

WoD went for a while with DPS having faster queues than tanks until people stopped running it often. This is normal.

When LotA was at it's peak queue times were longer than queue time now. And quite honestly, having 2 tanks per alliance was just so redundant since it wasn't necessary.

If you invite some random dps in your fc it goes a lot faster.

that aside, wait a few days and it'll balance out to CT levels after most people get their loot.

The only thing that really sucks about the tank que (at over 2 hours) is that once you get to the point you are about to enter and someone withdraws XD. I've dealt with dps ques and they were never 2+ hours bad. just sucks when the only job you have the gear to do it on, you can not with limited play time

Just shows the game has lots of tanks and healers. They just don't usually want to play with pugs. Give it 4 weeks tank/healer will all have the sets they want and not que again except once for weekly drop.

For 24 man raid it is 1 tank, 2 healers and 5 DPS since Sircus Tower.
This mean 3 tank slots and 15 dps slots in total.

Don't forget the efforts to attract people to play tank by making WAR almost a real DPS and creating the DRK actually paid off, but a lot of those tanks may not be full time tanks, and are Q'ing as tanks because of the imagined instant Q. Give it a few weeks like Stormrider suggested, tanks that dislike PUGs will stop Qing, as will the part time tanks when they realize it's quicker to Q as DPS right now.

So now Tanks finally get how it has been for dps...

And i usually only tank when i go in with friends/ fc members, others can do the same no?

The worst part is that you have a 30+ min wait just to get in, and then if you're unlucky you'll be in one of the groups where the skill level is "everyone just stands still in Corrosive Bile" and takes an hour to finish.


... the one upside though is that since you're the only tank in your party you'll never have to roll against someone else for your loot.

I think there is something very wrong with the tank que. I always get 30 mins+ everyday. Then yesterday and they day before I would try to que and it would let me. It would begin to que me but then I would get an error message saying it was unable to get me in que for void ark... Have been trying for days to get in and cant. Very annoying

30 minutes to an hour? You must be on a lightly populated data center. Sitting at 256 minutes as I'm writing this.

Primal data center.

If this does much of anything to people like us who play tank, it's going to cause people to quit tanking again, therefore recreating the original issue.

In Crystal Tower, there was hardly any need for 2 tanks per party. Tanks were just nerfed DPS for the most part. Even with 3 tanks per alliance, half the time 2 tanks are just DPS until 1 very small portion of the fight. If you enjoy tanking, 24 player raids aren't the smartest content to do when you will spend 95% of the time not tanking anything or being the designated B team tank that tanks everything.
