Australasian servers next? :')

Well, before the EU servers moved, I had around 200ping, now I have 300 :')
I'll have to leave my friends of 2 years just to get that crappy 200ping back, so I am wondering.....

Will there ever be a server in the future for New Zealanders (me) and Australians? It's a tad hard for us to compete with everyone else as it is, especially in pvp :P

Just imagine the people who had good ping that were from different places.

Bet they are about to have fun with the ping lag also and probably leave to another server as well.

What is your ping to the JP data center? There are English speaking communities on some servers there.

Slightly worse than the NA servers, since NZ has there internetz sent to America first, through that undergound cable under the pacific

I think its extremely unlikely that we will get oceanic servers. Generally the AUS NZ population of players is simply too small to really make it viable.

After playing ARR on a JP server (Ridill) for several years and then moving to Balmung at the end of last year, I've seen little noticible difference lag wise. I still get lag spikes and the like no different to when I was on Ridill.

Really, SE adding Australian servers is about as likely as SE scrapping the entire FFVII Compilation.

Technically speaking, there are Oceanic (or very very close to Oceania) servers already. Just not Australia-specific. From what another poster said, it's really the routing that's killing the ping to them...

I don't want to be the kind of person who gets his server and denies servers for others, I would support you as a FFXIV fellow but I don't see it happening simply because the investment would be much higher than what would get back to SE in my humble opinion.

It's sad though, there was a lot of hype for FF14:ARR when it started out (the stores were sold out for 2 weeks, even with pre-orders), but more and more people have been quitting because of the ping issues. I guess at this point they have lost so many due to ping issues it won't be worth setting up a server near here :/ I know I for a few months for a while when titan hm felt like a wall of ping before the first latency fix. Turn 5 was also a nightmare. Being told to uninstall my game and delete my character 2-3 times a day when I couldn't dodge landslides or divebombs was a real turn-off.

Have you tried using a service like BattlePing for a VPN to Europe? Might help a lot.

Yeah I'm using pingzapper, and it's 300+ ping with that.

If there is an Australian data center, there will most likely only need to be 1 or 2 servers there. We would have such a small pool of players to do Duty Finder with. I enjoy having 7+ servers to help with queues even if 99% of all players I meet only speak Japanese.

There would be a sense of community I guess? As much as I'd love Oceanic servers, the chances of it happening is so slow that it's not even worth dreaming about. I'll just hope they'll fix Mudra properly and not just ignore the issue now that EU players have their servers too.

Sense of community or not, going from 10+ servers in 1 data center to just 1/2 will have a big effect on queues. I already have a sense of community with the friends I have on my server.

Brazilian servers, please. It's unbearable the ping here.

You realize the game has been more popular now than ever right? I mean, all the WoW refugees are coming here, and sure some people quit "over the ping" (many unsubbing because of "lack of content" too, but thats none of my business) but the sub loss isn't overtaking the new subs from new players, especially since HW.

It would've been nice if from the beginning they labelled one of the JP servers as international or oceanic, instead of having a fan solution. By the time I became aware that most were on Tonberry, I became too heavily invested in Asura.. house and all. It would sure be nice to do endgame content with other english players sometime :/

As much as this would be nice, there's just not enough players in the Australasian community for this to happen, and would require a lot of time and effort from SE for such a small amount of the playerbase.

I do know a few people who have quit due to ping issues, but that was back when I was playing on NA servers.

Just makes me wonder how games like Path of Exile, Runescape and PlanetSide 2 can afford Oceanic servers but it took SE 2 years to even implement European servers which most MMOs have at launch.

I don't get why they can just place a server in Singapore to service the English speaking Oceania audience.

But now that they have done it, we know it's possible to get something going with the service providers here without too much of a hassle, just cost. But then there are other options, New Zealand, Indonesia, etc.

That's assuming this post is true.

Apparently there are over 2000 players from New Zealand/Australia, so one server might have decent numbers.
Idn, is 2000 players enough for a server? or would it still be too quiet?

My Japanese friends are all fine with English players, but they do speak somewhat decent English. I can see how it would be frustrating to communicate with players you can't well, communicate with. Auto translate isn't that graet, I've found Google translate to be more useful although that's wonky most of the time. There isn't exactly an alternative for us though, apart from straight up quitting. Even selecting English only throws me in with JP players.

My ping to NA servers was 350 on a good day, I don't even know how I managed with Ninja to be honest. Far too many bunnies, I'd rather quit than go back to that. Definitely staying on Tonberry unless we ever get Oceanic servers in which case my entire FC would likely transfer. I'd honestly pay double my subscription cost for a while if it meant funding Australian (or close by) servers.
