Idea: Make boss fights that utilizes Limit Break more!

"All" Boss fights have a "basically" 1 LB per Final Boss ( or even other bosses within a run.) Like some fights Take longer to kill so we could execute LBs 2-3 times per boss. I know LB's are meant to be like a "Finisher" but I feel like LB isn't used as often as it should be.

Just an idea. :P

Maybe you should try A3S.

Even in dungeons there are plenty of times LB can be helpful. People just don't use it.

Hell, sometimes people even get defensive about it. I pointed out in a DV that caster lb is pretty good on the last phase of the 2nd boss and caught all sorts of hell for it. You'd have thought I suggested the guy should kill his parents or something.

Using as a finisher is what it's turned into, but that's usually pretty wasteful, actually.

Well I meant in a "single boss" not used multiple times in a run. I mean you can only LB3 on a final boss to it's not like you get to see your special LB often at all. Sadly, it has turned into a finisher move if anything, sometimes it's not used at all because people feel like it makes the fight easier. Make fights feel like LBing is worthwhile, meaning the LB is the deciding factor between a wipe and victory.

It's just a little nitpicky thing.

I don't really like fights that require you to LB at specific points, especially tank Lb. The LB generation is just too unreliable and even worse if you have 2 of the same class.

Tank lbs are only useful when facing attacks that hit most or all of the party for enough damage that it would kill party members from full/near full unless they get the -10%/20%/-50%.

The Healer lb3 is only useful when an attack has just killed multiple party members. Healer lb1 and lb2 do little that can not be covered by their normal AoE healing abilities and MP recovery is pretty much a waste of a limit break.

It is best to use the melee DpS lb when it is full unless the boss has a mechanic that can be skipped with proper use of the lb (such as the last boss of Brayflox HM).

The caster and ranged lbs are most useful when you have at least 2 targets that need to be damaged.

I think this is a negative of the system, not a positive. Maybe change LB system so we can chose to use 1, 2, or 3 bar instead of the all or none approach?

Then won't people use a LV1 LB at the last boss and then build up to LV3 and use that too? Why would you want to use a weaker LB when you got a stronger one ready?

I would like if the required you to LB more often at specific points.
All they need to do is utilize LB generating mechanics like Ifrit's nails or Cloud of Darkness's Dark Clouds.

With those mechanics, you can have zero LB and build to level 3 just by killing the adds.
Stuff like that can incorporate the LB usage into the fight which I think would make it more of an interesting fight mechanic.
It would also allow the tank LB to be used more, since you can guarantee it right before the big hit.

As it stands, the tank LB just never gets used.
I think all the LBs should get used more. The fights just need to auto-fill them so that fights are designed around it.

LB aren't a finisher, they are an uh oh button for the most part but in dungeons yea they are a finisher.

Mages/Range help to clear adds
Melee single target heavy damage(Pretty much used exclusively when in a smooth party)
Healer lv 3(Last chance button if people have fallen but there is still hope to win)
Tank lv 3(If everyone is still up allows for all to take reduced damage and offer a slight pause for healers to catch their breath/recover MP)

Overall that's what LB are designed for, to make them a part of the battle design would only hurt the game because you are forcing people to have to build it up just to survive, if it gets wasted then you're boned, that's not very fun.

I actually really dislike seeing people hold it for the last 5% of a boss' hp in a dungeon. Seriously, what are you waiting for? Is it really that important for you to look/feel awesome just utterly annhilating the 2% that's left by the time you're done casting? I use it as soon as it pops cause then you start building the gauge again. The sad part is, I've had people get pissed at me for it. Ranged LBs are great to obliterate a big pull or to LB pull certain bosses.

LB is more than just a "finsher" It's why you get so many DPS sitting on a full LB bar for the duration of the dungeon Which is pointless. As it regens between bosses on trash. As they treat it too much as a finisher.

This in normal dungeons it's more usefull to LB a large pull of trash than shave a few % off a boss that is faceroll anyways.

I just wish they'd make the tank/healer lbs get more use. It was silly for them to redesign the LB3s so everyone's is unique when the only one ever used predominantly is the DPS (usually melee) limit break.

I'd rather have my own limit break bar.

Get a brd or mch in your party. I rarely see the LB bar full for long.

I really, REALLY wish people didn't think like this.
I don't need someone doing a LB that takes off 8% of the bosses HP when the boss has 2% HP left.
More people need to start using LBs as soon as they are available, so we have a chance of building a second one, or even better, using AOE LB's to clear off large pulls to just speed up the whole process.

Trying to be the flashy hero that saves the day isn't winning you any points in my book, DPS. I often will use the tank LB if the boss falls to 5% HP only to remind you of this.

I'm surprised this wasn't brought up sooner.

What annoys me currently is it doesn't seem designed to fill in time during the last boss fights to be useful. As a dragoon it's usually my job to use it in dungeons unless there is a 2nd melee. You go into the fight with 1 bar full and by time you can fill the 2nd one it's a waste because the boss is almost dead already. End up waiting too long thinking it will fill then I feel like an idiot for not just using the 1 bar earlier. For the other bosses where you only get 1 bar I try to use it immediately. But I kind of wish it would become the norm to have ranged use their lb on large trash pulls instead. Seems like a better use to me but nobody ever does it.

Feel like you never did coil. There were several fights that, when you were the appropriate gear level, you would be able to limit break multiple times.

Turn 10 comes to mind. You had to do a caster LB3 and then later on you'd do a melee LB3.

Yeah trying to use LB as the killing blow is wasteful. Please do it sooner so the FULL damage hits.

I know my highest is only level 55, but... When was the last time you saw an LB3 in LotA, or ST? Used to be neat to see 3 LB3's go off in there. But, we've severely over geared the place for a very long time now. That plays into not filling up LB bars for a lot of dungeons.

Coil 1 Turn 2. ADS, as soon as enrage hits, use that LB3. It used to be enough time towards the end to get off another LB1. Now, again, because we over geared the place, usually not enough time for even that.

I hate doing boss fights where people wait until its at 1% so lb will finish it. Such a waste. So many lb just don't get used either. Melee lb or gtfo.

Yeah, I hate the idea of using LB's as finishers as well. Use the damned thing when it's available and you'll actually save more time in the long run because, ya know, you did more damage with it!

Very rarely is it a good idea to hold back, and even then it's only for specific mechanics on certain fights. So, go wild. Use the LB when it's available, that's why it exists! The sooner you use it, the sooner we can get back to charging it up so we can use it again! If people were less worried about saving it up, I imagine dungeons and raids alike would go by a lot faster.
