Did Yoshi P messed up the relics Im trying to understand the meaning of this help me!

I'm not sure if this has been brought up before but I would like to adress the following.

This game is already very easy when it comes to obtain weekly currency to cap and get weapons with it.

Getting the relics from 2.0 was a huge timesink and a gil sink.
Was it fair to us who devoted time getting gil for materias and dedicating time for relic drops timesink with dungeon drops lights and books?

Me personally and this is my own personal opinion I truly feel disrespected and used as a player by Yoshi P. The only joy this game had that made you feel you earned these weapons was taken away from you over night. I truly dont understand this whole just because I pay for a subscription I'm entitled to everything everyone else has with half the effort by waiting it out.

IMO Its not fair to any player who dedicated time for this. It takes away the enjoyment and the reward. Yoshi P nerfed pretty much everything why couldnt this be untouched? Not everything must be handed out to players just because they pay for a subscription.

Respect your players who wants one thing to still remain enjoyable rewarding and unique :(

1) People with a zeta have been promised 'consideration' when the Heavensward relic quest line begins in 3.1
2) Traditionally, an expansion to an MMO means that all the stuff you had becomes effectively useless. It has always been this way and will always be this way, otherwise newer players will always be years behind with no realistic way of catching up.

What you GOT from your investment was months of being at the top of the line; not an eternal place among the stars.

Please know I'm not on some high horse by all means everyone should have a relic but everyone should get it the same equal way everyone else did. Its already a mess that IV materias are way cheaper now making all the millions of gil invested in the relic down the drain. I know I'm negative I have the right to be negative when I feel something is not right. "New relic chapter" is just a bogus way of scrapping 2.0 altogether. Make old content enjoyable instead by letting you put effort in for your relics backtracking old dungeons with your FC mates or LS mates etc. Why did probably the only thing in this game that was meant as a grind and rewarding get destroyed so quick. You can only get away with this once anyways if the "new relic chapter" is exactly the same as before it will be less players doing relics.

And I don't think I really want to go through the song and dance all over again with the relics. It was beaten to death ages ago when 3.0 was just a preview.

Moonleg: FFXI was never like that so i have no idea wich MMO you are talking about? I came from FFXI straight to FFXIV. My burtgang lasted a good long time in FFXI took a while to get it too. It was enjoyable it felt rewarding and I felt i acheived something. All I'm saying is if you want a Zeta get it the same way everyone else did no silly handouts.

Old content gets nerfed. Such is the nature of an upward progression themepark MMO. Deal with it.

Why would they make people go through the same grind now that it's just a glamour piece?

Milessaintborough: That is the whole point. The Relic should not have been for everyone. Make it enjoyable and rewarding. Yoshi P turned the relic into that Oprah episode pretty much with YOU GET A RELIC YOU GET A RELIC EVERYONE GETS A REEEELIC!!!!
Thats so corny. If you want a glowy i200 weapon grind it without any handouts if not save your esoterics for 3 weeks get a i200 that does not glow the end (was an example).

If they weren't nerfed now, it would be EVEN harder for new people to get it.
Especially the farming light part since there arent lots of light parties.
And I prefered to do WoD instead of primals to farm mahatmas, now queuetimes are stupidly long for WoD

Even though I am very against nerfing anything that doesn't have a big balance issue (maybe it would be called a fix more than a nerf) this is one of the things they kinda HAVE to nerf.

Make threads against nerfing mechanics in raids, and putting in pillows at titan ex instead and I'll agree with you!

Skizzle: I am talking about Everquest, Anarchy Online, WoW, Rift, and likely a bunch of other MMOs I haven't tried long enough to see the changes into an expansion.

Think of it this way; if stuff that was obtained during the base game of an expansion was still the best of the best three expansions later ... why would anyone even buy and play the expansions? It's not like they get better gear, they already have best-in-slot and have had that for years. There would be no gear progression at all, and people would drop out of the game because it felt stale. This way you get something new to aim for.

Ashkendor: You do know if Yoshi P learned something from FFXI he would have left the relic untouched everything else can be this upward progression but keep something for the legacy players from FFXI. Everything else is themeparked why cant we have just one damn thing to enjoy? Is that really too much to ask? We are aware you want everything to be easy to keep a player beeing active so you nerf everything so they can catch up on story primals etc but why cant you just leave the relic alone and just say look to get this relic you must know earn it no handouts. Its just one damn thing. It will make a big chunk of the community happy and not just me as an OP complaining.

Why would he care about legacy players from 11?

Moonleg: I can only speak for FFXI since I came from FFXI to this. I know how rewarding gears where I don't agree with alot of the things there but alot of gears and levels felt rewarding. I'm saying is some things can just be left alone. Since everything else is going a nerfed path why cant you let one thing be and let that be enjoyable for thoese who want a timesink and a gilgrind? It really not much to ask its a relic weapon.

Daralii: Cause FFXI was SEs MMORPG flagship maybe? It started from there and they are using influences and copying elements from almost every MMORPG but FFXI and the relic felt FFXI but they managed to ruin that. There are threads about this on the JP forums ALOT and I do mean ALOT of the gamers there agree with posts like mine. It seems like the western market really enjoys nerfs and handouts while JP and other markets want to earn stuff. Kinda strange.

He did learn something from FFXI and from 1.0. He learned they aren't viable in today's MMO market.

We'll have a new "relic" questline come 3.1, so it's pointless to leave the old one un-nerfed.

I say this as someone that completed four Zetas. *shrug*

Ashkendor: welcome to the club I hae 6 zetas. Everything else in this game is already adapted to todays market. Do you honestly think someone is going to be like man this Zeta grind is too time consuming so I'm going to quit the game because I can't get a Zeta? That sounds a bit farfetched don't you think so yourself? The new quest didnt have to be new at all it could have just been something that could continue on and expand your weapon from i135 and make it stronger. Thats the whole point of this grind and it should have been left as it is.

The problem is that you fail to understand how expansions work. Old content becomes completely obsolete in 99% of the cases when an expansion hits. If you want to continue grinding for your beloved relic weapon you can do so when the patch 3.1 story arc hits.

But hey, in a few months you won't even be complaining about this anymore, no, you'll be complaining that Alexander Savage is too easy with i260 gear or something like that and that Yoshi P. is babying the game because of that.

I don't know if this is off topic but, will Lucis for DoH/DoL get upgrade too? It's gonna be useless if this only for vanity stuff.

Relics are nothing but glamour now. There's no point in keeping them ridiculously difficult to obtain when they're no longer relevant.

I had a High Allagan weapon back when T9 was still a major blockade for most players. I don't care at all that people can go in and undersize it and faceroll it for the weapons at this point because the weapons are outdated. Having one was nice back when it was one of the best weapons you could have, but now that it's not, I don't begrudge other people the right to get them more easily for glamour. I can still be proud of my own accomplishment without feeling the need to attack other players for not getting their weapon the "right" way.

Do you really understand what it would mean to grind out the relics steps as they were when they were current and be doing it now in 3.0? We aren't talking about the same grind we all went through, not even close. If new players today, or even old ones wanting to re-do it, were to do the relics steps as they were at their time of release, what we did back in 2.0 era can't even begin to compare to what they would have to drudge through and all for a vanity item.

It seems that the devs (and most of the players posting here) are in disagreement with you. Do I think someone would quit over it? Not really. Do I think people would avoid doing it entirely? Absolutely. If there's no point in the reward, then the grind is simply for the sake of the grind, and that's never a good thing. It had gotten to the point where it was long and involved enough that it was unwieldy to make relics for alt classes, not to mention it was very daunting for new players to look at the enormous amount of work they had to do. I'm honestly glad they are taking the opportunity provided by the expansion to "reboot" the relic quest line.

Guess who has the most experience with how MMOs work.

Its funny because with ilvl sync and especially the "sync to minimum" option, we can still get Coil weapons "the right way" and everyone else will assume we facerolled it. Wont matter to me though when i do get my Coil stuff because I will know how i got it and thats all that matters.

It always surprises me the amount of people who feel like their achievements of the time is somehow lessened because someone else got it years down the track.

Exactly. How someone else gets a weapon doesn't affect me at all, so there's no reason to be petty or judgmental about it. It won't lessen my achievement in any way, so why shouldn't they be allowed to have an easier time to get something that is only going to be used for glamour now?

Your reward for grinding was having the weapon when it was new and being able to use it back when it was useful. Nowadays it's no longer new or useful, and it makes sense that it's easier to get.

Here's a fun fact. Your phone is probably cheaper nowadays than when you bought it (unless you just got a new one). Why? Because time has passed and better models have been brought to the market. Getting pissed off because other people can get a relic easier is like getting annoyed that others can buy a phone like yours cheaper than you did.

The difficultly I believe the OP is referring to is doing the 3 primal hard modes and also chimera to finish the relic chain. After you finished that, it cost 2 weeks worth of tomes to buy the upgrade item to make your zenith (or at the time, I believe it just said +1).

It actually takes 3 weeks to get the current weapons but they aren't the relics btw. The relic quest comes later. These are just the weapons you can get, much like the ones during the times of crystal tower/2nd coil, just no unidentified allagan tomestone required or some such.

Tbh, I didn't think beating the original quest of 3 primals "hard" modes was all that hard. It's less difficult than it was to beat ravana ex with randoms, so about a few hours of finding groups. I remember beating titan hm the first time was kind of a thrill though, I'll give you that. I think most people were barely Ilvl55-60 at the time (first 2-3 weeks of 2.0 lauch, IE 2 years ago almost exactly).

We will get the new relic quest in 3.1 I believe? I doubt it will be very hard, just a long grind. Get ready to run satasha normal and the old lvl50 dungeons until your eyes bleed. Get ready for grind land lol... I would be very happy if the new relics had nothing to do with any of the old content and maybe required you do atleast *something* more diffcult than running a bunch of dungeons you would have already beat to pick up the relic quest.

I'm not happy with them nerfing it to hell and back either, but I'm not about to make a thread but I'll post a comment here anyway.

In WoW they weren't made easier by increase of drop rates, to my knowledge anyway, the Warglaives have the same awful drop rate as before, as does the mount Invincible. The content itself is easier, but not the drop rates (content was also made easier for FFXIV, doing dungeons overlooked for Zodiac drops for example). They said Zeta would get some consideration, but as that's happening after the nerf I don't see the point if it isn't anything substantial, maybe if they had waited until 3.1 to nerf them.

All I know is that I'm definitely not doing the 3.x relics until 4.0, I did this one for the glamour not the stats, and if this one looks decent I'll be doing that too, in 4.0.

The drop rates are still .5% on a weekly lockout for that stuff (Cant even glamour Orange items anyway so theres little point).
For a long while, even at cap, Black Temple and Icecrown were difficult to solo. Some classes managed it better than others, but for the most part it was still rough. Doable, but rough.

When they did the statsquish, they gave players a 5000% damage bonus in old content. So you can literally 3 shot Illidan. Takes 10 minutes to get to him and thats because of all the intervening trash and forced side bosses you have to clear to get to him.
Then you just bop him on the head and collect your loot and try again next week.

OP, I felt the same way about all the players progressing through the pre-Heavensward level 50 content, who are now getting bucketloads of experience for bloody well everything!
All of them can enter Ishgard at anywhere from level 52-55 depending on how much the have worked at it.

WE originals, who all spent over a year sitting at 50 while gaining no exp, had to start the new zones at 50 and it was a lot dicier to solo stuff at that than at 53-54.

But at the same time I'm proud of the fact that we led the charge and defeated all obstacles with no handholding from SE.

As for the whole relic/zodiac weapon grind...I dropped that like a hot potato when I realized the augmented magitek weapon stats were only a couple of points below the dreadwyrms' and for the most part FAR better than the relic's until it got to Zeta. I sort of get a giggle out of seeing how far down the list of rated weapons the relic/Zodiac is now.
