Hey all,

Hmm... maybe not right now, but I'm sure we'll see some Cash Shop Flying Mounts. Would not be surprised if it's that Sanwua type Flying Mount seen in the Benchmark.
I used to support store pets in WoW, because about once a year they would introduce a charity pet. All proceeds from the first month of sale went to a relevant charity, so basically a free pet if you donate. That type of stuff warrants getting people to spend more than their monthly subscription fee, because they aren't just paying extra to the devs for in-game content.
I would support mogstation purchases if there was something like this to it.
Please no.
Put an ADS mount on mogstation.
The Cube one.
Or maybe the cone one...
A dodo mount would be nice too.
That can also fly.

Dodo is love.
Then don't buy it.
As long as what is added to mog station is vanity only things like vanity character clothing, vanity mounts and minions or vanity potions to change your appearance I see nothing wrong with adding more mounts to mog station. Mog station is not going away so get used to it being there even if choose not to buy anything from it.
That slippery slope just keeps getting steeper everytime I see how willing people are to shell out their money to "Support" the developers.
Oh, it's this again.
How about ask them to give us new mounts without asking us for our paychecks every day.
Some of these giving fellows act like SE is into the ground and near bankruptcy.
They got more money than you ever dreamed to have, stop it already.
Stuff like that is why Sleipner is on Mog Station instead of dropping on Urth's Font like all other primal mounts. The more they sell, the more they will take content that could easily be "free" and in-game acquired to the Mog Station.
Remember when WoW released a new vanity pet or mount once a year?
Then twice a year?
Now it's every three months, always new and unique models, while apparently all mounts obtainable in-game in the latest expansion are reskins of existing and quite boring models.
Is that the path we want for FF14?
No thanks...
Not "buying" something expensiv we dont even own! - We just rent!
Does that not mean developing these mounts for the cash shop actually takes away precious the time the team could be spending doing literally anything else for the base game? That includes developing mounts obtained in game mind you. They don't have a team just for cash shop items (or we'd be seeing much more exclusive items there), and clearly the items that are in the current shop are not funding important things like improved servers, so we'd have more inventory space, retainers, housing, etc.
It's not okay for any other pay to play MMO to do this, I can understand WoW doing it with them having like half of their player base since the 3rd expansion, but as we've seen FFXIV is gaining and not losing subs. They don't need to accommodate for lost profits. But regardless of all that, I don't support it in WoW nor will I support it in FFXIV. Those other games that add them don't have a subscription cost, and each character is around $5-10 I think? That's an entire new character, new moves, new voices, for the price of a Fantasia.
Too many people caring about how others spend their money. If SE really cared about whiney players feelings towards the cash shop and it needing to be removed, it wouldn't exist, period. You feel otherwise, please prove me wrong. I really want to hear that one.
This playerbase has by far some of the most entitled and whiney people I've ever seen, and I say that having played WoW from day 1 to ARR launch.
Look out here come the cash shop haters to hate on something that don't effect there game at all. And yes id like to see a few more added {btw if you don't like anything new in the shop then don't buy them} but for us that don't mind paying a lil more for a game we love it's fine:D
No, thanks.
A part of me would like to see a new mount added to the Mog Station, but another part of me, fears what this would lead to. I am afraid that they are going to see that the Mog Station is very profitable and they are going introduce stuff like the new Glamour EGI to the Mog Station.
World of Warcraft started very innocently and look where it is right now.
PS: If you want to support the developers, get them new players. Convince others to play this game, this will bring in alot more money in the long term then someone buying 1 item from the Mog Station. I think you could always donate money to Square Enix.
Too many people care about things about what should already be in the game, and they have every right to feel this way.
We pay this game a month to get away from that Cash Shop BS.
Character change / Name change all that is fine.
But it's BS when you mounts, minions that's overpriced like hell, and God damn dye's into a CS. And the worst of it all...INVENTORY SPACE inside the CS.
This isn't WoW, shouldn't run like WoW. Just because some other MMO does it, doesn't mean everyone else needs to do the same.
Shouldn't also feel like a F2P game where you buy extra space.
I have to agree with you on this.
Look at the threads talking about equal glamour outfits for male avatars. Every complainer is a entitled player who cares to much, about what another player dresses his or her character with. I do not understand why people care so much about other player character, do have soo much free time, that they care what others do with their character?
So yeah, while I do have different opinion about the Mog Station. I can agree with you that the players of FFXIV (atleast the ones on the forum) are very entitled.
SE's cash shop has been more than reasonable, I'd buy a new mount if it was added.
Cash stuff is optional and with the exception of retainers are all vanity.
What's ironic is that nobody complains about spending extra money just to get the vanity items from Digital Collector's Edition, or the Fanfare subscription for the moogle items, and the upcoming Carbuncle plushy for it's Carbuncle minion.
People who cry about the shop are usually just poor and cant afford it and are frustrated :(
Believe it or not, it does apply to others. The more people that buy these mounts the more reason SE has to add more mounts to the cash shop, not a hard concept to grasp. I personally don't mind it as it is now, $20 for a mount that's just a beefed up primal mount? Whatever. But if they go the WoW route and implement the same mounts in game with different skins, and then throw all the cooler mounts into the cash shop that's a problem. I'm sure you can at least agree to that, no? And I'd like to state that FFXIV isn't the holy grail of gaming, don't be stupid with your AAA purchases and you'll get quality games. Personally got 100ish hours out of the Witcher 3 (which was entertaining for the most part, little grind) for the small price of $80 AUD. If they decided to implement entire sets of armour and the like I'm out. I'm paying for 2x subscriptions, and quite a bit of Fantasias here so you can't exactly state that I'm not supporting the game, which seems to be an argument thrown around here.
Then i guess we need to scrap the griffin mount since ppl paid more to get it and lets scrap the veteran rewards as well since you rather earn everything right? maybe ppl should start complaining that they did not have the cash for the big CE with that dragon and since they pay for the game SE needs to send everyone itYes i agree it be dumb to put mounts in there you can earn in game hell i'm not asking for a wow cash shop or anything but a mount every 7 or so months wont kill anythingQuote:

Then how would you have them implement it? So far, we've had multiple great mounts get gated via: 200k-1m MGP. Multiple RAF that costs as I stated previously more than double what it would to just buy it(if you don't have the friends), and at the beginning, ridiculous drop rates and fighting with 7 other players for a CHANCE at the mount.
Maybe people want to spend the money because the developers do a terrible job executing the ways of obtaining said things.
I mean, I love grinding and farming, but not the way they implemented Fenrir and the Adamantoise.
SE is out to make cash like everyone in the world why is that so bad? no one here is asking for stuff that is game killing no one here is asking for everything to be paid for by a cash shop but if SE want's to toss something in it every now and then they can do so. And fans can ask for things yes? i mean everyone pays to play this game so just as some ppl in here say since they pay they don't want stuff in the shop others who pay as well can ask for things to be added.
While I wouldn't like them to introduce Cash-shop exclusive mounts like Slepnir again, I'd welcome if they'd put in variants of mounts that are otherwise a chore to obtain such as the ADS, the Steeds and the Fenrir. (god damn that new fancy uniformish coat is gated behind PvP, would buy from CS xd)
I'm not Gramul but, the Primal mounts could have been handled based on achievement rewards on the number of clears (10-100?). Fenrir could have dropped from Snowcloak, Adamantoise possibly from completing a lot of guildhests. The GS was new though, they needed to give people reason to grind or enter the cactpot. Adamantoise can now be obtained in a matter of months just doing the mini cactpot with moderate luck (far less with great luck). I like Gramul's point, winning the roll on the Ifrit mount literally made my day, as opposed to paying close to 30 AUD which would left me with a feeling of regret after I stopped using it in a week or two.
1. By having a straight money transaction as an option rather than a requirement, allowing for a heavy grind as an alternative. Because yes. I really would rather grind than pay 20 bucks for an immaterial chocobo replacement.
2. Adding actual interesting side quests where you unlock these mounts.
3. If you really must charge for extra in your P2P MMO with additional charges already sprinkled on top. Why not charge for mini expansion arcs with these mounts as the prize? It would certainly be far more worth the staggering cost.
In other words, not do a terrible job executing the ways of obtaining said things.
Because some people seem to be so eager to immediately hand over their wallets without question or hesitation. We're already being charged for this game. We're already being charged for the subscription. We're already being charged for extra retainers. We're already being charged for Name and Race changes. We're already being charged for expansion and their special edition upgrades. We're already being charged for server transfers. Why bow into more of that?
Like I said, if they must charge, they could at least make it interesting or have a heavy in game grind to achieve it. It's a videogame. I like to win things from playing videogames. I honestly don't care if they have a cash shop for the impatient, but at least have a remotely interesting in game option to achieve it.
You remember hen you unlocked some extra skins and costumes in old games right? Wasn't that fun? Wasn't that an interesting incentive to complete challenges? Why just replace that with a dull transaction?
Im sorry but, are you stupid?
We want to be able to obtain cool mounts in the game we dont want to pay even more money. They are already trying to milk us by not adding more inventory so we will bye their retainers and now you want to give these kind of people even more money?
That's not bad. And if it's profitable, it's a legitimate reason to do it in a business perspective.
However, with everything added to the cash shop, that's one less thing they could have added to the game. One less thing to grind for, one less thing to get people into the game for, one less thing that encourages people to continue to subscribe to play for.
As more of these things are added, it becomes more nonsensical to keep the game as pay to play, because it ceases to have the benefits of being pay to play for customers. Why pay 20 dollars for a mount in FFXIV for example, and pay a sub fee, when you could pay 20 dollars for a mount in a F2P game and not have to pay a sub fee?
I've played many F2P games. Just about all of them have been very instant gratification oriented. FFXIV was my first subscription MMO, and I loved how you worked for everything in game. Real life financial inequality did not exist in FFXIV. Everything you saw in game could be earned. Then the cash shop was introduced. It was less invasive than F2P games, though it's been steadily increasing. First a mount and minions and old event items (which I don't really have a problem with), then marriage, then exclusive dyes.
That mount could have been a rare drop from the pretty pointless Odin trial. Reason to grind the trial, reason to play. Instead it's a cash shop mount. Instant gratification that requires no work and gives you no additional reason to play or subscribe longer. Small, but it adds up.
If it continues, the game will begin to look more like a F2P game without the benefits of a F2P game (i.e. no subscription fee). We should all know by now that F2P games see people come and go a lot and generally are iffy on success. This is partly because they're free, and partly because they are shallow in content and filled with encouragement to purchase from the cash shop. Instant gratification means less reason to actually play the game. In the long term, taking on F2P characteristics will hurt the game, which will hurt the income from it unless SE manages to attract enough huge spenders who stick around to offset the people who spend nothing. And with a large cash shop, trust me, they'd have more trouble justifying the subscription fee. Hard to sell a F2P-like cash shop AND a sub fee if it came to that.
That's why so many people oppose adding to the cash shop. It can quickly get out of control and puts the tried and true to be successful subscription fee/low cash shop content FFXIV setup at risk. Take it from someone who has played tons of F2P and B2P games.
Called anyone stupid just makes you look bad i mean really. Anyway SE can add more it be cool by me and if they don't idc it's really up to them but i'm done posting here since this threads just turning into some funny war about cash shop players vs players who hate cash shops all the op was asking was for a few more mounts. Since that one they added way back when hurt this game so badYes i do i mean i unlock and earn everything in ff right now lol and id stop playing this game if they added i230 gear in the shop or lvl up buffs and stuff like that. But i trust the team that runs this gameQuote:
