I want to explore Eorzea, only to get sneezed on by a goobbue, become empowered by said sneeze, and then unleash said sneeze as payback.
Just sayin'.
The more it gets said the sooner we'll see them, right? <---- My logic for this thread.

Can't wait for Blue Mage, but I'm not holding my breath.
I've also been wondering if they might do something crazy and mix Beast master and Samurai. Like that one character from Samurai Showdown. I can already see the "Fang over Fang" macro's XD
That would be an all-star lineup of jobs in the next expansion for me. Though if those three jobs were the ones being released for the next expansion, I can see SE upsetting a lot of people by turning Blue Mage into a healer and Samurai into a tank, since it seems logical to release one of each role per expansion such an influx of a certain role during the hype period. Ideally, I'd love to see all of those jobs as dps roles.
I think we're already expecting a SAM tank, after DRK went tank as well. But as for BLU heals, White Wind, and Mighty Guard exist, and it gets all three Aero spells. Which mostly have been given to White Mage. So, unless BLU gets different WHM cross class than everyone else, I'm not sure what's going to happen.
I would like to see both Red Mage and Samurai in the game. I don't care what their roles are so long as I get to play them.
If they keep the current 1-1-1 class-role formula I would much rather see Samurai take the DPS slot.
I'm not sure there is much outstanding in the FF universe that -could- take the tank slot but I think it would be more interesting to have a new melee DPS after Machinist.
Well those two Jobs are going to be added for sure. In a previous interview with Yoshi-P, he said Red Mage, Dark Knight, Ninja and Samurai were some of the Jobs they plan to add in future expansions. Dark Knight and Ninja were already added so I won't be surprise to see RDM and SAM in the next expansion (Yoshi-P mentioned that they dont plan to release any more jobs until 4.0).
And after we got Ninja Yoshi said he didnt do SAM because he thought there were now enough east asian inspired classes.
That said, I would love a cannon wielding tank, and a sword in one hand, magic in the other RDM (to differentiate them from pld, their weapon will be two handed, though one sword and one sorta magic catalyst)
Do we really need more mage classes added anytime soon? We just had SE add bow-mage to the games class repertoire. My preference would be add samurai to DPS classes. I wouldn't want samurai as tank class in FF14.
You don't know what a red mage or blue mage is do you? They're both melee classes.
The problem with samurai is that we already have a two hand sword wielder. The options for weapon models would be somewhat limited, and the moment DRK gets a katana (they already have many many weapons that are close), then SAM is gone.
The real problem is that there aren't really any more plate wearing FF classes. And the tanks need to wear plate in this game. Unless they put BST in armor or something, I see them struggling to find a new tank.
Not that we need one, they may just add a new disciple of war and a new disciple of magic dps. The one tank, one dps, one healer system isnt set in stone. And we've come to a good split on numbers of Tanks to heals to dps, which was a problem in ARR.
For now, yes. But they've proven in several MMOs that you don't need plate to be a tank. You can make up for it with stance adjustments. The Assassin tank of SWTOR, the Bear tank of WoW, those have both proven that you can have a class be squishy out of tank stance, but a wall in their tank stance.
Not Beast Master, but a job which includes taking on the form of beasts :D
There are only 3 mage categories left Blue Magic, Spell Blade Magic and Space Time Magic. Blue Mage will be a tank, Red Mage will be a dps and Time Mage will be the caster. The new Healer will be either the Songstess/Dancer
If they're keeping the FFT motif, dancer will be a DPS class that uses MP to cast offensive spells while it attacks in melee. Also, machinist is basically the Vana'delian red mage--relies heavily on support, casts a lot of debuffs, has a ridiculous amount of skill speed, has a mana battery skill, and people insist that it's a main DPS job.
As for blue mage, the only way it would be almost viable is if they made it like monk and the different enemy skills came from branching stances based on the monster families. I don't think XIV has the same amount of effort put into monster affinity that XI did, so I don't know how well this would work from a fluff perspective, but it would make the job intuitively usable.
I doubt they will add beastmaster as they currently have enough trouble with summoner and adding pets doesn't seem to be there strong point. Beastmaster has a high reliance on different types of pets and if they use the same archtype as smn then they will greatly weaken it. Also beastmaster tames pets and I doubt they will go that far to add that ability as that would cause them to go through each and every world pet to make sure they're balanced for use against themselves. Also the pet pots that they will need to add for instances just so the beastmaster has the ability to have a pet while in an instanced location. The types of pets would have be thoroughly looked through in order for them to add the job beastmaster. At this point in time I doubt the job is going to see the light of day as there are plenty of other classes they will add before they even look at this job.
Thing is what roles could the new classes bring that the current classes don't do? I mean I'd love to see either Songstress or Dancer (oh god millions of Thavnarian Bustiers as if I didn't care about it already) but I can't imagine what they would be able to bring. Constant buffs? Debuffs?
FFX is the only FF game I played with Songstress and they were just flatout support, no offensive skills at all just "channel X song to debuff all enemies with X debuff or X buff for allies (darkness, slow, haste, sleep, etc.)
Time/Space magic seems to be taken by Astrologians. There's also Geomancy, but I'm not sure how it could be implemented in this game. Could possibly be too close to Conjurers, too. Necromancer? Summoners kinda have their spells, though. Maybe Green Mage for a healer?
During the next expansion there will be 3 new added classes:
Red Mage - This class focuses on close range attacks with their rapier and enchanting their abilities further with magic. Using certain abilities in certain combinations will unleash a combo finisher that does significant damage. Their main function is the ability to dual-cast, which is an action off the global cooldown and a long recast that allows you to repeat your previous action. The main stat of the class is INT, and acts as a bridge between the Discipline of War/Magic classes.
Dancer - This class focuses on applying detriments to the enemy while simultaneously healing and buffing the party with their dance moves. You can switch between the forms of dancing to grant you different types of detriments and heals. As an example, one dance will drain health from nearby enemies and subsequently give that health to your target. Additionally, this class can apply a termporary buff to themselves that allows them to apply any detriment to an enemy regardless of immunities.
Blue Mage - This class is the first Disciple of Magic Tank whose primary damage stat is INT. The Blue Mage, of course, uses abilities from other enemies in the game, and will consist of powerful defensive abilities like Mighty Guard (Phys & Mag Def up) and Angel Whisper (auto-life) alongside just as worthy Dragon Force (All party ATK up) and Quake (AoE threat). This class will even have the White Wind ability, which allows you to heal another party member up to your current HP total (this ability has a long re-cast).
Samurai - This job class will be released in the 3.4 patch as a new dps role. The class will revolve around sacrificing portions of the player's health in order to increase the damage output. The player will also have to pay attention to their forms, as mishandling the forms can lead to a loss of HP with no damage buff. Additionally, when the player has flowed through all of their forms, they can either execute a vicious strike and repeat the forms with increased health loss for increased damage, or a healing strike, which stops the racking damage buff in favor of regaining lost HP and returning their HP to normal. The samurai also has the ability to grant their total MP to a player (The Samurai Mana pool is about the same amount as the Paladin Mana pool).
Please look forward to it.
more tank is pointless for now, mostly because add more tank will not make more player be tank.
other point, Yoshida have said they will never ever launch 3 jobs at the same time.
even if i want to see samurai soo badly (and as dps please, like yoshida have said) i doubt we will see it with the next expansion.
Red mage is possible since they want to add more mage, blue mage less likely to happend.
i see red mage and dancer for the next expansion, since this one will probably bring us to ala miggho. Dancer as healer and red mage as melee caster dps.

Q11. Any plans to add a new job/class during the 3.x series?
A11. We’re currently working on adjusting the existing jobs, and don’t have any time to consider new jobs. New jobs will probably be introduced in 4.0.
This makes no sense.
First because the flavor of DRK and SAM are completely different. One is DARKNESSSSS, the other is fast precision strokes.
Secondly because they could easily make SAM based on an Iaijutsu fighting style instead of a two-handed stance.
Your lack of imagination is also not the developers' problem. Thankfully, they have no shortage of ideas. The only limitations are execution and manpower.
lolno
It is SO not pointless. I, for one, would play as a tank far more often if there were at least one tank job that I actually liked, instead of vanilla PLD, slightly less vanilla WAR, and edgy DRK. There are many others like myself, I'm sure.
Beastmaster would be so fun! I'm also all for Blue Mage or Puppetmaster!
I'd like to see blue mage and beastmaster the most but I don't think they'll add them. They've stated several times they lack the creativity to implement blue mage into their rigid MMO triangle setup.
I agree but to be fair a lot of stuff that Yoshida says in these events ends up being not true later on. So I wouldn't stick so closely to the "no more than 2 jobs in next expansion" thing. Especially because I really don't see them adding 5 abilities per existing job again. Assuming a 10 level increase, maybe one at 65 and another at 70.
I think that logically we'll get SAM, and it SHOULD be a tank, but I think Yoshi's real attached to the idea of SAM being a DD so we won't get it.BLU will come eventually I'm sure but hey guys: If you're expecting a hybrid caster/melee who runs around the world stealing magic from mobs and (insert long FFXI explanation here), you're going to be disappointed. Most likely it'll be a DD or a tank that gets sword skills with levels and then gets magic from the job quests every 5 levels which would involve stealing magic from a boss mob in the job quest.
Personally I'm partial to the idea of a RDM healer that also does damage through DoT's, but think more likely it'll be simply a DD that isn't much of a hybrid at all.
BST: Probably won't happen, if it does it'd be like BLU: get "jug pets" from job quests and are able to summon them, and the pets would matter about as much as SMN pets. Also it'd have to be a DD job.
I almost feel like PUP would fit better, have a couple different frames to summon (sadly no customization), a melee frame, a mage frame, a ranger frame (ending up with one of them being pretty much always used like garuda), the master using H2H similarly to MNK but also maneuvering his pet (who would do pretty small damage compared to the master, naturally).
In the end we're never going to get jobs the way they were in FFXI, such as true hybrid jobs, or solo jobs. At best we get complete redesigns, possibly keeping the aesthetic (anyone remember FFXI SCH and how much its different playstyles rocked? Kaustra and Embrava rocked, the Dark Arts side of the job was great in addition to the Light Arts). What we get is pretty much just the Holy Trinity: which I guess works because when it comes down to it, for group content the buff jobs, debuff jobs, and so on, were kind of just extras added to the trinity.
They said "probably," which means they definitely haven't started working on it, and they're definitely not making any promises prior to doing so. I can almost guarantee you though that Samurai will either be added in this way or not at all since it would be too similar to Dark Knight if it was introduced as a tanking class and Red Mage looks better as a dps job for the expansion since they would all be Disciple of Magic Classes with different armor type sets (Red Mage = Leather, Dancer = Cloth, Blue Mage = Metal).
The unfortunate thing is that if Samurai misses the next expansion then there's a very high chance that they are not going to be in FFXIV at all. Also as a side note, SE, if you do implement Samurai, make sure the katanas go on the character's waist. It would speak volumes in terms of differentiating the Dark Knight silhouettes and the Samurai silhouettes.
I want another 2h heavy armor dps class. Drg/Lnc is boring imo, at least at 34 and below.
