So after the DRK nerf, MCH nerf, Triple Triad tournament point NPC payout nerf, tournament participation MGP nerf, platinum card reward nerf, Tradequest leve EXP nerf, Fieldcraft leve EXP nerf, Ixal quest EXP nerf, and all the nerfs I don't even know about, I just don't even have the energy to complain. I'm kind of okay with the levequest EXP nerfs because a valid rationale exists. But piled on to everything else, it just makes things look even more depressing.
None of these nerfs are fun, and I know more are on the way. I'm expecting Supply and Provisioning mission EXP to be nerfed, and Challenge Log EXP too. Sigh. No, I'm not giving SE ideas. They already thought of it.

Here's the thing. When they are building a class or Job they balance it against the existing classes and Jobs then test their build as they think a player would. Given the developer's country of origin their view of how a player will behave is biased towards a certain style of play. But as non-developer players are won't to do, they are going to try and find every way a class or Job can be played. This is how XI's ninja turned into a tank and red mage/blue mage/dancer became the go-to Jobs for soloing. Unlike XI, though, the developers are keeping a close eye on the game to see how players shake out the classes and Jobs, which even after all this time still surprises them. Like healers that DD, who could have anticipated that? Clearly players found a way to squeeze even more damage out of Dark Knight in an unintended manner, and Square decided to fix it instead of letting it get out of hand.

Wait how did DRK and MCH get nerfed? I know there were bugs that were fixed but they weren't nerfs if it was never intended.
As for the experience nerfs, its only for lvl 50 characters so they won't cheap level classes to 60 in only a few hours. I agree with SE on these nerfs. Also I doubt they will nerf GC and the Challenge Log since it scales with your level. -

As for Rapid Fire, I believe the complaint is that it was ueed to instant cast skills while in Gauss Barrel. These were bugs, not nerfs. They aren't desired. Unfortunately, the removal of these bugs did weaken the class but I rather have them fix broken skills rather than them just leaving them. -

Does the reduction of damage hinder the ability to tank? If not then it doesn't really matter. Tanks aren't supposed to output high DPS. That's what DPS are for.

It's a hit in more ways than just 1. If you're not noticing, then you either don't have carve & spit yet, or you weren't quite paying attention to the damage you could do through using a Dark Arts on 2 abilities, ontop of the MP you would save in the process.
We weren't cheesing content with it. Our DPS wasn't through the roof like a Warriors is. If anything, that bug put us on a fair grounds in terms of DPS, and made our MP to Damage conversion so much more tolerable. (TP aside)
No matter how anyone puts it, bug fix or not, it was an indirect nerf to our overall damage, and MP usage.
