Sooo what about leveling a second class to 60?

Since the launch of 2.0 the best way to level had always been FATEs, or dungeons which would be a bit slower, but a lot less boring. In addition to your first 50 kinda being handed to you with all of the quest rewards. Still, leveling another class wasn't too bad.

Now in 3.0 I'm already worried. My first 60 is obviously a breeze with all of these quests, but what happens when I want to level up another? So far the only things I see giving reasonable amounts of xp are duty roulettes, but that can only be done so much in a day. After that what is there to grind that gives good xp? FATEs are absolutely horrible now and so are dungeons.

Am I completely missing something obvious or is there no real non gated way of grinding another class up?

...I don't know.. I ran Aurum Vale today and came out with 150k exp gained from it.

I'm worried about it to.
I didn't even wanna do side quests but I need to in order to find currents and get more EXP for my main.
FATES don't work anymore. Leves are 10 a piece to that's steep...
FATES 14k a pop is sad, very sad. I had to literally think hard about what job I wanted to max first because of this.

When you get to 60 is there another armory bonus that gives an additional 50% to everything? Then the fates wouldn't be so bad. I am not at 60 nor are any of my friends so I can't verify if it exists.

They really need to boost the exp from mobs in the new dungeons. 700-3k a mob is just bad. The sheer jump in exp required for each level post 50 is very high, and that paltry exp doesn't put much of a dent in it. Exp should scale with level of the dungeon. Not stay the same :/

Gotta grind it out... this is the makers of ffxi after all :P

Unfortunately for a lot of ppl, SE hasn't gone full WoW yet and allowed 20 dollar boosters.

Keep in mind they already boosted levels 1-50 a bunch. so 50-60 is the new 1-50; each level will be similar to 5 levels in 2.0

You needed around 25 Fate per level in ARR, but the scaling is just absurd in Heavensward, and unfortunately Fate XP doesnt scale very well :(

I just dont want to worry about it atm, still need to get my main from 57 to 60!! I think its gonna be a painful grindin.

Yea I'm worried about this too. I just got to the new zone and immediately started thinking if I wanted to go through the quests on my BLM or maybe try a few different classes to see if they click a bit better. I really hope they buff Dungeon/Fate XP because going through on another job will be a nightmare.

Armory Bonus from 50-60 is increased by 50% so it shouldn't be as bad as the first time, my guess is a mix of dungeons, fates, leves and challanges log is what will be needed.

This is par for the course for SE. In FFXI, they expanded the level cap usually by 5-10 levels at a time (until the WoW-ification patch that increased cap to 99). Each time, the new 5-10 levels took about the same time as 1-50 or 1-60.

This is intended. They want leveling more than one job to max to be an achievement, something that takes awhile.

Don't worry, however. After a few months they'll increase XP gains so leveling will be easier again.

The decision to not have the lvl 50 dungeons give xp is stupid. lvl 50 dungeons make up the majority of the content.

They moved the dungeon exp from the trash mobs to the bosses. Overall the dungeon is still the same amount of exp.

There are ways to save quests to do in HW. In the initial 50-51 sets you get two breadcrumb trails that send you back to the western higher lands or back to cloud top after you quest in both initially. If you pick western highlands it leaves you all the 50-51 quests for your next class in cloud top to do. Also, around the 56 range several more breadcrumb quests that lead you to three different areas to get you from 56 to 57. You can potentially just do two and run a few dungeons to leave the third for yourself, then after you hit 57, more breadcrumb quests pop in Ishgard and there are even more that will pop for 57 to get you to 58.

I only did some of the level 57 quests that popped up in the various zones and largely ignored them, I spam ran the dungeon called the Vault a few times and did a few of the 57 quests in cloud top to get to 58. If you decided to do that as well, it will leave you several quests in the 50-52 range and the 56-57 range that will give you somewhat of an advantage to work with for your second class. If you decide to go for more than two though you'll end up having to grind it out. Hope those going in HW tomorrow or haven't progressed that far find this useful. =)

Hey now, EQ2 did them before WoW did, and neither of them charge 20 bucks.

WoW's are 60, and EQ2's were 35. On top of it, EQ2, you can pick one, play it right up to the end of the current level, and THEN buy it. Try before you buy.

Experience for Fates Level 51+ Needs to be adjusted to 35k Experience.
Experience for Fates Level 55+ Needs to be adjusted to 50k Experience.
Monsters in level 50 Dungeons need to reward 5k Experience a Kill.
Monsters in level 51-55 Dungeons need to reward 10k Experience a Kill.
Monsters in level 56-60 Dungeons need to reward 15k Experience a Kill.

I don't agree. It makes perfect sense that they don't.

If the level 50 dungeons gave XP, then people wouldn't level up in Ishgard, they would simply ARR dungeon-queue to cap.

Then what is the point of doing them?

The second 60 will be get 50% more experience from fate and mobs with the armory bonus.

Nobody remembers their first 50...that took quite a while too. Especially without roulette and buffed dungeon exp and other things.

I'm sorry but that isn't true. I leveled two separate 50s. This expansion lacks fates+DD grinding.

Some people are a bit naive and say the 50% bonus will fix everything, but it wont.

1 dungon mob gives like 3k xp, a boss 10k and a fate 15k, a level is around 2 million at 55.
that leaves you with 133 fates or like 50 dungeons per level, now you apply your 50% bonus and realize that you still rather shoot yourself.

Poetic gear becomes completely useless after level 54 pretty much. Its a tiny bit better. You gotta think of something better girly, there are several dungeons and they shouldn't all be worthless in a week or twos worth of work (casual player.)

Quest gear also gives better gear then Poetics in some cases. Even level 51 gear.

By 3k, do you really mean 500-700? That is what I was getting in a level 51 dungeon. It was the same amount I was getting in low level dungeon ques. Was hilarious!

FFXI didn't just increase the level cap to 99 overnight. They increased it by five level increments even from 75-99 (with the last four levels being the exception; it was just a four level increase). Also, the new five levels never took as long as 1-50 (or whatever the previous max level was) did. That being said, they weren't a cakewalk either (until Abyssea and Trusts were released).

not even your first 60 has enough quest , i did all the quest in all the zones (yes i checked) and i was 800k short , even when i repeated some dungeons x2-4 , didnt touch fates at all some here and there but maybe what 15 fates at most while leveling....

the next 60 will have to fate level and ugh ....fates give little to no exp (even with armory bonus) ,and few ppl doing fates so meh , no hurry in leveling a new 60 but SE needs to boost fate exp for sure.

If you don't like Poetics gear, then don't do the 50 dungeons. You ask what the point is... there isn't if you're under 60 and don't care about Poetics. They don't want you leveling 50-60 on ARR content. They want you to try the new Ishgard content... that's the entire point.

They did that in order to prevent speed power leveling at release. The High level dungeons will be giving out XP later on.

Dungeons gives crap load of XP, I don't even. I still have 2-3 areas where the subquests are not completed. Heck, I've almost untouched any of the Idyllshire and Azys Lla quest other than the ones that gives attunement.

The Library dungeon gives a whooping 500K XP a run and it drops gears that you will need to get to meet the IL145 requirment for level 60 dungeons.

The Vault gives handsome XP and nice gears too.

You are also forgetting that this is vanilla Heavensward. 3.1 isn't released yet so they can ease the process of leveling or adding new ways to increase your exp. Relax, enjoy the expansion and don't rush.

For a couple of the PRE Heavensward Dungeons ya, but he's obviously talking about the Heavensward dungeons, they're the only 'New' dungeons.

Yep 50% armoury bonus and 50% rested bonus should give decent xp. You won't be able to level every job to 60 in a week, but i think that is a good thing. If you don't want to grind your eyeballs out, it's prob better to prime up some rested bonus first.

This worried me also, I totally love lvling from quest. Leveling from quest is same like a free exp to me and at the same way you will know better about the map lore. What you need to do is just talk, walk and kill some mobs.

If things got worse for secondary class maybe I will invite full PT for queue dungeon or Fate grind.

It's a like open Book that there is something wrong with the XP in Dungeons and from FATEs.

Why do some People always defend a bad Design Choice? No offense against you I'm wondering in General. Well they want to activate a HotFix Today. Maybe the FATE's and Dungeons where bugged XP Wise? *wishful thinking*

lolwut? We have people already level 60 and the expansion hasn't even technically been released yet. If anything, we need a way to make it take *more* time to level to max, not less.

3.8mil for level 59-60 but you have loads of XP from MSQ too, LOL? :rolleyes:

I did about 5 runs of Library that's it. You will want the IL148 gear anyways (let me remind you that you need IL142 to run the final MSQ and IL145 to run the 2 expert dungeons) so why not?

Do you mean you prefer to be a delivery boy and run here and there (while not being able to fly) per quest for 5-10mins each on average for crap XP and a piece of IL145 gear?

How is it bad design choice? What defines it as a bad design choice, because it doesn't give you the amount of XP you wanted?

Choice. In ARR you had the Choice "do i quest, run fates, do leves, guildleves or queue for a dungeon?" Now your forced to Quests and have the Choice started at 57. Thats a bit late...I know that we have Leves here too but not everbody has 100 tomes stacked for that.

And im sorry for that snarky comment above i was without coffee buff. The first Dungeons gave near to nothing. I even noted my XP before and after because i thought i was bugged and didn't get anything. If the last 2 spit out decent amount then im happy as a Tank.

This isn't quite true. You have just as much choice now as you did with ARR.

-Dungeons are the best XP, same as ARR.
-FATEs in ARR were only efficient if there were a lot of people leveling. Before NIN was released FATEs were a pretty horrible way to level.
-Guildleves have always been rather inefficient and really only to 1) complete the challenge log for the bonus and 2) for something to do while waiting for a dungeon queue. Otherwise they are mostly there for Crafters, Gatherers, and getting Venture tokens.

It does. I did some FATEs on a secondary class today after having gotten my main to 60. I'm getting 20k instead of 14k.

imo they made it easy to get 1 class to 60 through story quests just so we have access to majority of new content ... and for the rest they want the journey from 50-60 to take a while why is it people need to max everything in a month then complain for 10 months how theres no challenging content *facepalm*
