Game looks and runs so much better now. Really pulls out the strengths of the art style. Helps bring it all together.
Just wanted the devs to know that. Through the moderators. Who may or may not pass it on.
Balls in your court now dudes.

I fully agree. There have been points where I am exploring where I have to stop and stare at the texture of the pavement, of all things.
Ran Pharos Sirius and my jaw dropped at the water effects in there now. Truly spectacular.
My frame rate dropped from 120 to 60 FPS with the game cranked up to max, but the texture improvement was absolutely worth that tiny sacrifice. And actually, my video card isn't crying as hard since it was made for DX11 and it can shuffle some of the GPU intensive work over to dedicated hardware bits now. My CPU is running cooler.
Now just for those HD Textures...
I was running Haukke Manor yesterday and happened to glance down at the flooring in one area, only to say, in voice chat, "Did the floor here always look that good?"
The statement was met with a resounding "What?", of course, but I'll be damned if that's not some fine shader work.
Some of the ground bump map stuff in DX11 3.0 looks a little to... spiky.
I play on 3 monitors...DX 11 caps me at 1920 X 1080. :(
That's tesselation. FFXIV did not do hardware tesselation until 3.0. I got not only a noticeable FPS increase with the patch (while keeping max settings), but also MUCH improved visuals. The improved water and hardware tesselation are amazing and make the game look 5 years newer than it did the other day. I'm glad I'm finally getting to actually make use of my 780ti for something. I'm up to averaging 60% GPU usage rather than 30 previously.
It looks great, except the parallax occlusion mapping is broken on one of the common rock textures. You can see the texture crawling when you get up close to it.
Also surprise feature: the DX11 client correctly supports MFAA for Nvidia Maxwell owners so you can dump the god awful FXAA and use a semi-decent AA solution.
I am especially enjoying the boost in performance, I have a high end rig i7 4770k oc 4.2 and GTX 980 MAX settings in 1440p and my frames went down in packed places like Mordhona, now after the expa and dx11 it runs so smoothly even in crowded areas like Ishgard...
it is just awesome.
I have a question for the more tech savvy folks. So I'm using AMD A6-3420M for grahpics card, and I'm pretty sure it was made for Directx11 as that's what my system says it's normally using. With the directx9 client I got roughly 40-32 fps in standard laptop mode (yes I'm on a laptop. Wasn't necessarily made for super high gaming and was built..three years ago now I think?). 60 fps at title. With directx11 and exact same settings I get 20 fps at best in game. Haven't tested it much but now in towns there's lag where I didn't have it before. Is a half fps drop normal?
I don't mind still using directx9, but if directx11 can help the computer perform better it would be preferred.
I just wish the DX11 client minimized properly when alt-tabbing, instead of going into a windowed mode. For one thing I'm not really fond of my video card working as hard even when the game isn't up on my screen.
Because DX11 doesn't increase performance over DX9. It wasn't designed to. It was designed to increase graphical quality. The same settings now have higher requirements than before, and the max requirements have MUCH higher requirements than before (video card-wise, CPU-wise the requirements are the same). So yes, on integrated graphics like that I would expect worse performance on the same settings.
The eyefinity res are broken, once that's fixed it will be great. Nothing over 1920x1080 is there in full screen. I can run 6016x1080 in borderless windowed but not in full screen.
Crossfire doesn't work if your not in full screen, so I'm stuck with dx9 for now.
game already looked awesome but now looks even more awesome !!! many thanks Dev team !! :)
I have a laptop with NVIDIA 840 M and running ~50FPS on High Laptop...if I swap to DX11...will my FPS drop? :/
It's a shame the low resolution textures cause some of the DX11 features to go haywire.

Namely the Parallax Occlusion.
Man when the sun rises, some places are just so beautiful that it makes me want to cry.
That being said, yeah, that parallax is a weird one...

Huh....I never noticed those texture bugs.
My eyes are not that good at noticing little detail without comparing them side by side. Being on a PS4 I'd like to ask if anyone had taken some pictures of things before and after DivX11. To make it more obvious for some folks and to better show off the before and after from a user's perspective. Other than the nice high end rigs used in the promo clips of specific things..
BTW are the graphics only that noticeable on PC's or are they still about the same on the PS4?
That distortion almost looks like the one in Predator, when they are invisible
Still no proper AA.
DX11 client is a great addition, have really enjoyed the update.
Talking about the parallax/tesselation (was called that in the demo client's options)- there are also some rocks in southern thanalan (I'm sure the texture in other areas too, just haven't checked) can be quite obvious and actually move, visually you can watch it move like it is water or something when you walk lol. Wonder if they have a place for us they want to report that sort of thing. Not saying DX11 is bad of course for the gloom hunters, much rather have DX11 as is than not lol.
HD Textures would be above amazing.
Hmm, I haven't noticed it on every corner but for the objects using it I guess I'll take your word for it. I noticed in the location I mentioned because it was, as you said, a corner (edge to a drop) but it looked like it was water or something even more exaggerated than your example gif (which is a great example, :P).
Haven't been able to clock in as much time as I wanted due to servers and some awful timing with work related activities, can post while attempting to log in . . . xD.
*slowly pushes in ps4 crowd* i wonder if the ps4 will get something similar to the dx mode so they can be something other then the 'ps3 version that works' :P
My only complaint about the DX11 is that once again, crossfire doesn't work. I have to do a workaround to get running. When I do, the name text of every npc, pc, and mobs goes array and I getting missingno text, mix matching text and occasional flashing. It's pretty funny and annoying at the same time. It was so bad at one point that I couldn't find the mender because of it.
Did the ps4 get an upgrade at all? since to my eyes things look a lil more nice:confused:
The game looks better than FFXV now. PC the master race.
