This letter is a plea to Yoichi Wada and all other staff and stock holders responsible for financial decisions regarding the title FINAL FANTASY XIV.
I will try and keep this simple and to the point.
Although the game has suffered considerable loss of value and low score reviews, It is my belief that the current development staff have shown great strides and promise on restoring the game to a enjoyable level. Naoki Yoshida has shown considerable dedication to his position and I feel the game has the potential to become something amazing given time.
This is a plea to continue to support the future development of FINAL FANTASY XIV for PC and home game console. I feel that there are many fans in all regions that still wish to purchase the console version and if the quality of the product is up to snuff by this time that the game may enjoy a decent subscriber rate and prove to be profitable. There are also maybe PC players that will give the game a second chance once they see new reviews and commercials for a re-marketed product. I feel you owe it to your fans to at least try and turn this around.
Forum users and players may wonder why I made this thread. In this time of huge development costs for games and financial decisions to be made, XIV's future is an uncertain one. With all the doom spreaders on this forum I wished only to perhaps have my opinion given voice to those in charge of financial responsibility, and indeed the future of Eorzea.

Agreed, I think the game is heading in the right direction, and is already quite a bit more enjoyable. The foreseable future looks promising as well. I just hope that SE does indeed support it long enough for it to learn to walk on it's own.

While I did do it in the form of a letter, I also tried to reach out and ask to make sure that advertising funds be raised so that people see the new face of FFXIV. I like your letter, it's well put together. Unfortunately, I don't think it will ever actually make it to him. :\ Sucks, I know, but it's an unfortunately low possibility. ; ; I wish though!

I know it's a low possibility but if even there is a chance that it might give XIV more time it's worth it. Even if it doesn't make it to the president there are others that could read it or at least the community reps could know that there are those that are still rooting for them.

I think they know. Everyone here on the lodestone is rooting for FFXIV to succeed. Yes, some are more vulgar and hateful in their opinions than others, but it's because they want it to succeed. Also, SE won't give up on this game for a while. They can't afford to let one of their main title games dying. Yes, it had a rocky start, but with what we've gotten so far in the last year, this game is certainly going to go places. Maybe not to the tippy-top like WoW is, but WoW isn't the MMO I played and loved for 6 years. I played and loved FFXI for 6 years and it's first year in Japan was just as rocky if not worse than this game's release.
They won't give up on it ^^ no worries. -

To be honest, a part of me wishes Square Enix would bury FFXIV for good. The reason? Their choice of payment processor, ClickandBuy.
My situation with them is untenable, and I am not interested in retaining them as a payment option, nor am I interested in wasting an extra $5 on a monthly subscription through UltimatePay's game time cards.
At this point in time, I am about to be forced to have my bank cards cancelled and replaced due to ClickandBuy's utter failure to respond to my complaints. I have to take measures to protect my financial stability.

Hopefully SE will add a better direct billing system by the time they start billing for XIV or sell time cards in stores in periods of 1 month, 3 month, 6 month, 1 year etc. ClickAndBuy is one of the reasons I'm also not reactivating my XI account.

Ive used payment methods like this before, so im not that fuzzed about it.
I wouldnt mind start paying subscription fee as the game is like today. Hope this F2P Campaign of theirs dont SE that much that they end up bankrupt. Not sure how the world economy impacts SE finacially, but just wondering what the current crisis in US and rest of the world will do to them.
I might only have been here for about 2 months, but im loving this game already. Wish i also picked up FFXI instead of WoW back in my days :p All those years wasted lol -

You start charging a subscription right now and the player base will drop like flies. There are so many technical problems with FFXIV and Crystal Tools. XIV has brand recognition, then there is also the power of word of mouth, and the fact that its the only MMO on the market (aside from XI) that offers a coherent story with cutscenes. I think apparently C&B has some sort of shady track record and doesn't allow you to unlink your CC information w/o sending them letters in some other country or something. People just want a direct to SE billing system.

In their fiscal report FFXIV was never on the chopping block. They didn't plan to cut it even when it was costing them and I doubt it plans to get cut unless it somehow flops after it has been redeemed as a pay to play. Either way I support your post. Added my like to the many. :)

Its free to play, that's one indication that they wont let this game go. They are taking ideas from the community and throwing in the better concepts of the ideas and implementing them in their own way.
If any of you have heard anything about Wada dropping this game, then I've missed that conference, must've been a bit too busy enjoying the summer event to notice. -

The game is showing amazing promise and, given the administrative hurdles such as payment options are cleared (currently no indication of how this may or may not happen) then it stands to become Square Enix's new cash cow in the not too distant future. -

Dear Mr. Wada,
Before square and enix merged to form squenix, which is less than the sum of the two parts sadly, your parent companies made cool games. Please stop doing whatever it is that caused you to make a game as bad as FF14 and release it in such a pitiful state. The fans who buy your products want good games with fun gameplay, good stories, and interesting characters. While fixing FF14 is a good thing, you should think of all the profits you haven't made from subscriptions in the last year and realize you are tarnishing your company's name and reputation and losing any edge you might have had in a competitive market.
