When I'm waiting on que in Mor Dhona, I like to pass the time by finding random Lalafells and /poking them. Occasionally, when one of them turns around with a /surprise emote, I hear not a Lalafell, but instead a very masculine Highlander, and I'm all like "....what the hell was that?"
I asked someone in my FC who used to have a Lalafell with a deep voice as to why he chose it. His response in short was:
"I don't like squeaky voices, Lalafells aren't children."
My response:
"They aren't children but they should sound how they look."
I want to elaborate on this. Lalafells are very small, so they have smaller lungs, smaller mouths, and smaller wind pipes, therefore they should make a high-pitched sound. Allow me to use a couple of examples:
Dogs
Think about dogs of all sizes. Do little, ankle-biting poodles or chihuahuas make a bark anywhere near as deep as the barks of a labrador or a great dane? Nope. Are poodles and chihuahuas eternally puppies? Nope. Neither are lalafells.
Musical Instruments
Now think about someone about to blow into a small, little harmonica. Then a deep ass tuba sound comes out of it. Yeah, that's exactly how ridiculous deep-voiced lalafells are.
I want everyone's opinions on this though.

All I'm saying is that it's out of place. I never said that I hated it / want it removed. People should be free to do whatever they want with their characters. I'll agree most of what I said was stupid and ignorant and I deserve nothing less than mutilation for such an ill-minded, vile, offensive, and utterly stupid opinion. My dog is small and he has a very loud and deep bark, so I disagree, size is not relevant to deepness, it has to do vocal cord sizes

I used to have a small, older, Filipino male co-worker who was only 5' tall, but had an incredible deep voice. When he was heard on the loud speaker, you'd expect a hulking beast of a man, but turned out to be a miniscule lil' dude! It was just funny how much contrast his voice was to his stature. Small dudes can have deep voices. I could even imagine midgets or little people as they like to be called, having deep voices, too.

The size of the body does not necessarily have that great an effect on the deepness of the voice. The tautness of the vocal cords is the important thing, and if Lala males' voices deepen in the same way that human males' voices deepen, they'd sound pretty similar.
Just look to real life dwarf actors to get an idea of what I mean. Male dwarves voices cover the same vocal range as other human males. -

Totally disagree with OP. One of the main traits of the race is how incredible jarring it is. Lalafell looks cute and small, childlike even, yet you only need to pay a little bit of attention to see lots of examples of lalafell commiting crimes, consuming alcoholic drinks, making sexual advancements to other characters, spilling innuendos left and right, and many, many more. Is truly both an amusing and surprising contrast.
I actually love how SE went out of the way to hammer the point that they are adult individuals, more akin to classic dwarfs, by being familiars, crafty and ,in the case of Ul'dah's citizens, very greedy
Them having deep voices is not only possible as said before, but by virtue of being a fantasy game SE is able to take some liberties anyway. But what make them more appropiate is that the deep voices perfectly represent one of the most amusing characterist of the race. If we were to take it away it would just make them a bit more generic cutesy fairy like race. -

While we're talking about inconsistencies, Keepers of the Moon are supposed to be broody and loners according to the lore, yet SE gave them the same happy-hippie emotes Seekers of the Sun have (unlike Hyurs who got clan-specific emotes to match the clan's personality). Surely there can be exceptions with very happy and cheerful Keepers of the Moon, but why are we all forced to look cheerful and lively in our emotes?
Do I wish a change? Yes. Do all Keepers wish a change? No. Would some people rage if emotes changed? Yes.
Will SE change emotes? No.
It's the same process for Lalafell voices. -

And on topic: I actually have a male lalafell alt with an old man voice which I find hilarious. He's a little drunk with red puffy cheeks and bushy moustache. Nothing child-like about him. -

Size may correlate to vocal range sometimes but don't act like two people are going to have the same vocal range because of their height... That is quite frankly stupid reasoning. -

when i created my character i Chose the one from which i thought suits best for my personal idea of that character.

in RL there are also big persons with squeaky voices and small People with deep voices.
