The girls of patch 2.4

Criticism is so rampant these days that threads have to go out of their way to say that they are not sarcastic when being positive.

With so many hate directed at duty finder and the Final Coil, it is time to talk about what we like about the new patch.

We could experience many great stories, but wherever we went, we saw the girls stealing the show.

Sure, the old ones also had their moments(especially Nanamo and Yugiri), but the new ones make me want more of each of them:

Moenbryda, who dominates every scene she is in and breaks Urianger out of his stoicism.

Iceheart, who truly made me question wether we are the good guys.

Milala, the best guard captain ever, who managed to be terrifying and cute at the same time(and that hat. gods, dat hat)

V'kebe, who is willing to tie up her own guildmaster for breaking the code.

and Tsubame, who not only has the best ingame hair, but actually acts like a real ninja.

Who was your favorite?

I thought Iceheart was more against Ishgard, not us.

Yes, she would have gladly joined with us. And yet, we attacked her and foiled her plans.

you should check on Moenbryda at the Rising Stone after you finish 2.4 story because she is currently beating Thancred in a drinking contest. :p

V'kebe! love her! I like that character sooooo much! Sometimes I like to think that Jacke and her have something going on. :P

This patch made me get more interested in the quest characters than any other love what S.E is doing with this game.

The moment she summoned Shiva she was in the wrong. Shiva hurts the realm and can temper to steal the will of people. While Iceheart may have had a point the ends do not justify the means. Even in the story as it was we were just helping Ishgard to get their support against Garlamand and they only seemed to be offering support to Ishgard to that end. It wasn't even enthusiastic support. However, the moment we heard the name Shiva and discovered she was to be a primal there was a very different attitude from the Scions. Well it is debatable wether she summoned Shiva at all. I would say she somehow merged with her. Also, are we sure she can temper? She isn't an actual primal after all.

I see Shiva more like a victim of the conservative Ishgardians

Tsubame, by far, she was refreshing in a way and soo good as ninja.

Even Minifilia is surprised that crystals and willpower is all that seems to be required to create a primal comparing it to Good King Moogle Mog. She even says as such. She didn't postulate that Shiva may not have been a summon. They never doubted that for a second and these are the people in the realm that are experts on the topic. So as far as we know based on the way the characters treat the events of 2.4 we can deduce that she is indeed a primal since they seem very content with that result. As such she has all the abilities of a primal such as tempering even though we just didn't see her use it. Honestly, we never gave her a chance to use it since we took her down the moment she was summoned(born?).

*This part is speculation*
As for her merging with Shiva that does seem to be possible since this was a unique summoning in the story. It's also possible that she was acting in a similar way to the artifact the Ascians keep giving to the beast tribes. They use these artifacts it to summon their primals in addition to massive amounts of crystals. Judging by her using Haedalyn's quote it's entirely possible Iceheart has echo and was able to summon shiva due to having echo thus acting like a medium in place of the artifact. This follows along with the existing story where Minifilia is trying to figure out what the echo is exactly and the quote is one of those "so the plot thickens" kind of moments. I'm very interested in seeing where this plot thread goes.

They also make a pretty good team with Oboro who is totally clueless about Eorzean customs. But I will never forgive Karasu for stealing my favorite nickname.

She is most definitely not Iceheart, lol. Her mannerisms, speech, ears, not to mention hair length/style, hair, skin and eye colors are completely different. No.. I think you're really reaaaaaally stretching that.

Ah nice, I hadn't noticed that. But then I play a tall Elezen and typically tower over everything. Also.. doesn't help I rarely have my camera close up unless I'm taking screenshots. :)

Guess we'll know for sure in the future. Plus well, even if she is what that looks like, not all of 'them' are bad.

Her as well? Loosing that cute Elezen to the empire was bad enough.

My headcanon is that my character has a thing for lady Roes, but also that she has a crush on Minfilia. So when Moenbryda showed up it was like "Oh no she's hot."

If you look closely, Lucia has a Garlean 3rd eye. She's a foreigner and her insights as a Garlean may be the reason why Ishgards been safe from Garlean invasion. Similar to how Cid been helpful to Eaorzeans.

My character (who is still the pre-fantasia Lalafell guy at his heart) has a crush on Tataru, Y'shtola, Milala, Tsubame...yeah it's complicated

I'm wondering if Parappa the Rappa will make an appearance since the overall theme with the storyline now is "I GOTTA BELIEVE"

In what way is that the theme? I don't get that from the story in the slightest. Just because they determine that one of the elements of creating a primal is willpower (belief) doesn't make the entire storyline "I gotta believe." It's such a tiny part of overall the plot that has instead been focusing on investigating the echo, learning how to kill Ascians permanently, and preparing for the Garlean's eventual return. If anything the theme is closer to "We're on the brink of war"especially considering the expansion coming up dealing with the Ishgardian war against the Dragons.

Ah yes. Couldn't remember her name. I think we can't rule out her reappearing in later quests. Hildibrandt made quite an impression on her.

The gladiatrix from the Hildebrand quests. She seems to have a lot of character and background for a throwaway npc.

Well at least we know that Moenbryda and Iceheart returns next patch. For the others, we can only hope.

I'm in love with Lucia ç__ç

I gotta admit I was really digging Iceheart in this patch. Part of me hopes she comes back to play a bit more of a prominent role (I wouldn't mind her as companion if they ever care to make it so we aren't stuck to just a chocobo). I feel like there's more to her than we saw this patch and I want to see more.

Like I said, she definitely does. Recently the dialogue files were datamined from patch 2.4 and 2.5. Only names are shown, no actual lines. Iceheart is included in 2.5 as well.

Don't play with me my little kitty heart cannot handle it

Milala kind of angered me, but in a GOOD way. I WANTED her to get taken down a peg, which to me is a sign of good writing.
She had actual personality, which is something missing from a lot of the class quests.
Tsubame kind of disappointed me, though. She's one of the the most authentic ninja I've ever seen, as she only dons the ninja duds during combat situations, but she doesn't have much in the way of an indicative personality. She's close to Oboro and is highly regarded in her village, but not much else is known.
I get the feeling the Ninja quests are laying the groundwork for expanded class/job quests in 3.0.
V'kebe was also fun. I want her outfit so bad. But it's expen$ive.
