Or was this from the beginning? Its slighly annoying as DPS to wait for an hour and then get locked out after going to the toilet for a minute (since it seems to pop up only when I'm not at the computer :P)

It was in the notes - you get 3 strikes then you're (locked) out.
is that daily? Or when do the strikes reset?
From 2.4 patch notes
Quote:
Players who select Withdraw from the Duty Ready confirmation window or allow the window to time out without making a selection three times or more in one day, will be temporarily prohibited from registering for duties via the Duty Finder.
This count will reset every day at 9:00 a.m. (PDT).
Yes. And is a terrible addition to the game.
Yeah, but combine it with 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 new dps players, its annoying to be locked after queuing hours.
How long is the lockout?
Lockout is only 30 minutes iirc. It's 30 min every withdraw after the 3rd until 9am PST when you get 2 freebie withdraws again.
If people are missing their queues this much, they are doing it wrong. I can see once, maybe twice, but if it's 3+ times per day, they are AFKing way too much.
That lockout may be inconveniencing a few, but it's saving many more the aggravation of watching their queue reset yet again as another player misses their window or decides to troll.
There are easy fixes for legitimate concerns. For example, many players crank up the volume while AFK so that they hear the confirmation window appear.
Obviously. As getting people locked out after a mere third miss over a full 24 hour period is a good thing. Its nothing more than a very poor decision. And I'm baffled to see just how many players apparently blindly accept such bs, rather than asking for the devs to implement an alternative system to hinder in progress fishing in normal queues without punishing occasional misses.
As much as players queuing as DPS have it comparatively rough, they also contribute to the congestion by not being ready to confirm. Sure, there are usually a ton of replacements ready to go, but it seems that a lot of players shared this mentality of "my queue takes forever, anyway, so I'm going to go redecorate my bathroom, not check my game at all, and hope it doesn't come up". From past experience, the DPS slots are the ones that usually hold up the DF....
I find it unlikely that on a regular occurrence someone would miss their queue 3 times in a day due to not being able to get back to the computer because they stopped. If this is the case it's likely you don't have time to play due to real life matters that should be attended to first. It's massively cut down on the queue-trolling and I'm sorry that a few innocents were caught in the mix. As for pre-mades just make sure you make use of the Ready Check before you actually queue up.
No one "blindly accepts it." It's just....
You. Have. 3. Strikes.
You miss it once? Np.
You miss it a second time? Np.
You miss it a 3rd time? Happens, it's only 30 minutes.
You withdraw after the window pops? Three times? There's no excuse. SE put it at 3 for a reason, yes emergencies happen, but 3x...in a row? Not likely.. Yes DPS queues can be long while everyone is leveling rog/nin, but it's really hard to deny this is a better change unless you were one of the many causing everyone to sit through 20-30+ "PLAYER HAS WITHDRAWN".
Being i the middle of an HQ craft? Miss. Being in the bathroom during a 30 min queue? Miss. Phone ringing to pick up? Miss. Welcome lockout. Yes, let's applaud SE for such a brilliant system. Great piece of development genius right there. And what was it to counter? In progress fishing. An extended lockout for 3 misses in a short period of time would already have made a lot more sense than the current implementation.
Nobody withdrew from my ST queue last night. Absolutely love this feature, 2 withdraws seems like plenty of leeway.
Important HQ craft that will take you more than 30 sec ? Don't queue.
Phone ringing? Accept your Duty and tell your party you need a moment.
Nature calls? Hope your queue doesn't pop if your IRL "duty" takes longer than a minute. If it does, oh well; you still have another strike.
All those complaining are probably the ones who were abusing the system in the first place.
Let's see pre patch, queue for ST average wait time, 15mins, actual wait time 40 mins due to someone trolling and keep withdrawing
Post patch , average wait time 15mins, actual wait time 15 mins.
That's not terrible, it's long over due, now the kiddies can't get their kicks from wasting others time for fun
Pre-2.4, queue for ST:
Estimated wait time: 12 mins
Party found after: 4 mins
withdrawal time: 13 mins
This happened sometime within the last 4 weeks, I remember it well because it was the worst I ever had, withdrawals made me crazy that day.
I've run like 10 STs now and the highest amount of withdrawals was 3.
Best. Patch. Ever.
How does this affect you?
Enter by yourself, you get no strikes.
Don't afk while in queue. Simple as that. You waste everyone else's time when you withdraw or time out.
Enter with a group, make sure you know the people and ready check before queuing.
This should have been implemented since CT.
I agree that three times is plenty. I think people are just upset that they are being held accountable. They can no longer abuse others and get away with it.
The ready check feature is there for a reason. Utilize it.
Great addition, makes getting into Syrcus so much easier.
As for punishing good faith accidents... I can see missing one duty pop because you were in the bathroom or whatever, that's happened to me and it's probably happened to everyone. But having it happen to you three times in a row? Whatever you're doing, you're doing it wrong.
Right? Knowing how the DPS queues are, when a DPS is the one that holds us up for 30+ seconds and then times out from the duty I have to shake my head. I understand getting bored waiting for it to pop, but there's plenty to do ingame (and out of game, I frequently alt tab to browse the forums and such while I'm in the queue; actually I'm in the queue for story roulette as a BLM currently) that doesn't require you to be away from the game and miss your queue.
You have three strikes. If you do choose to go afk while you're queued, that's the chance you take.
I'm all for passing the time crafting and such, but why would you craft items that could potentially make you lose your queue spot? I avoid 2+ star crafting like the plague when I'm waiting in the queue in the event that the duty pops.
My only issue is the fact that it's over a 24 hour period, I think over a 1-2 hour period before a reset would be far more reasonable. I can imagine marathoning one long session on a day off, and over the course of a full 10-15 hours easily averaging 1 missed dungeon every 3-5.
If it's to stop people from spamming queue there's no reason the period should be so damn long. Also what if you're queued with a half premade, and because of a consistent group of unready people everyone gets locked out. I've easily had groups of 5 or 6 people have to take several tries to get into an instant queue, because "Who dropped?" "Sorry that was me requeue" it's instant anyways so there's no loss to them.
Been running dungeons as DPS for 6 hours today so far. I haven't had even a single strike. Nor have I had a withdraw/timeout since this was enacted. If you are having issues, it's because of your own actions. What you do affects other players and you do not have the right to hamper them from their fun. That is why this was put into place.
First, You decided to do other things while in queue that could cause you to miss it. You know what I do when I'm in queue? Make sure I'm not doing something that would lock me out of a queue for 45+ seconds.
Second, Go to the bathroom before you queue. Unless you ate Taco Bell, you won't need to go to the bathroom again for the next hour.
Third, ... pick up the phone and accept queue? Are you still using a wired phone?
In conclusion/tl;dr: It's your own fault. Stop blaming SE.
Oh I personally never miss dungeon queues, I probably miss a queue pop maybe once every couple months, I'm not speaking about myself, just logically thinking I can definitely think it wouldn't be that far off for an average user to run into this problem at some point.
Seriously? You want to do this? Firstly, if you've got a HQ craft that takes more than 45 seconds to finish, you either suck or you're doing 3/4 star synthesis. Pro Tip. Don't do those while queuing. Also 'lol' at reporting someone for harassment just because they called you out on your blatant ignorance.
I'm not sure how you can STILL argue this when your arguments have been blasted to pieces time and again. Three strikes. We're not talking ONCE here. Not even TWICE. But THREE times. The only way you can legitimately miss THREE of them is by simply not giving a care about doing the duty in the first instance or intentionally withdrawing to catch in-progress runs. Get used to it, SE rarely go back on a deal.
Yeah if you miss 3 times your not paying attention, if I have to go to the restroom or answer the door I put my 5 yr old daughter in charge, she hasn't missed a que yet.
