She's hardly the first person in the game to use guns. Like...seriously.
Is it that everytime someone uses a gun, its a hint toward a gunner class? Just wondering because someone said the same thing after Captain Madison. in Sastasha (Heroic).
They've been talking about the gunner class since 1.0. The gunner guild was there in 1.0 as well. No they aren't trying extra hard to tease anything at all. The fact that a NPC uses a gun does nothing more than enforce the fact that guns exist in this world and people use them every day. Tons of NPCs use guns, and several are very high profile. Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn specifically comes to mind as a great example of how using guns is not a tease for this player class in anyway.
Every time a gun is used is not a tease at the gunner class. A REAL tease would have been us seeing a gunner using it in battle and healing with it since so far we are made to believe that the new gunner class is a healer.
Using the logic of "oh theres a gun so it must mean it's the new class" can get all out of whack very quickly. Oh look garleans using gunblades. New gunblade class confirmed and their teasing us! Just because something appears in the game doesn't make it a tease that we will get something or that it's related.
The girl above works in the military. A military that has guns. It's not a surprise.
Guns have existed since 1.0, but barely I see a time where they use it to "Show off" the class/job. However, people have different ways of seeing things, I just see it as a tease because I barely see a time where the guns where shown off. I haven't seen the rest of the Rogue storyline yet, but the way it's unfolding it's possible for it to happen as well.
Edit: The class existed since years ago is not a tease since it's been in the game for way to long without it releasing.
At the US fanfest they made numerous references to various knights and batman as a dark knight and they even wore a batman shirt. The following week they formally announced the Dark Knight class.
At the London fan fest when Yoshi took off his Black Mage AF he was wearing a 007 shirt. Following the same line of "hints" we end up at the current target of speculation. The agent. http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Agent The agent is gun weilding healer. (Obviously without the all female aspects I'm sure)
They've also in the past said they would be releasing a new tanking and healing job in the expansion. New healer class + gun class + 007 shirt hint = Agent as the current speculation. Pretty reasonably if I do say so.
Right, they did say they are releasing at least 1 of each role, but we don't even know how many jobs we are getting. Speculation is not facts and even if it poses to be true it doesn't make my opinion on it before the gunner class reveal any less more right than yours.
So say they give 4 new jobs in the expansion 1 for each type of role ( DRK- Tank) we still don't know the DD or the healer yet. In my honest opinion a gun healer just sounds weird, but if it ends up being just that I be happy with that too.
In my personal opinion, I don't see his T-shirt or his shooting motions are hints of it being a healer class. It just looks like he's just shooting at someone. I am open to the idea of a gun healer though, but I just don't see it atm.
Then you're literally ignoring the specific way they dropped hints just a week prior just to fit your narrative. Keep in mind Yoshi also said the gun class wouldn't what people expect. Agent nicely fits that description.
It makes me laugh that you don't see that as a valid tease or hint yet simply flourishing a gun is.
Correction. Its being Speculated as a healer by the players. It could easily be a DPS and at the Fan fest in december when the gun class details are revealed they then go on and tease a third class for the healer.
At this point all we have is speculation no confirmation on any details past the use of guns.
Except the hint at London Fan Fest was that Yoshi P particularly likes the film "The man with the golden gun". SO the title is the clue not the James Bond bit. So it could easily not be Agent class at all.
Plus there no guarantee the next class being released is an actual healer class.
Once again it just speculation.
Yes, if you read further into the thread I pointed out that it was speculation.
Also, speculation is at least based on some amount of knowledge. You're assuming it could be a different class than a healer based off an event that hasn't happened yet.
Starlord. How do you reconcile the following details against your current opinion on what the gun class will be?
A) Dark Knight was strongly hinted at the week before using a shirt and then was confirmed. 007 on his shirt and gun motions are the same kind of hint. Why do you ignore the 007 aspect? Why was the t-shirt a valid hint the previous week that did indeed hint at Dark Knight and this week you can't believe it's a hint? Don't you think you're blatantly ignoring this piece of info?
B) Agent is actually a class in FF Tactics Advanced 2 and was a gun healer class. Does the 007 shirt really not lead you to this in a similar way batman lead to dark knight? If there wasn't an agent like class that would be one thing, but there is.
C) Yoshi said the gun class would be different than what we expected. Isn't a healing gun class unexpected? A DPS gunclass wouldn't exactly be considered unexpected. That would generally be what's considered expected because it's what most people want.
I'd say we have a different opinion if it actually felt like you were acknowledging certain details. Right now it feels like your ignoring the ones that are inconvenient to your position. I'd love to hear your opinion on those 3 points and how they reconcile with your current opinion and how all three as a whole reconcile. I'm not looking for a "I just agree" I'm more interested in specifics as to why.
If that movie is to be taken specifically serious then assassin would make the most since since the man with the golden gun was an assassin using the golden bullet to point out his targets. With the addition of Ninja a gun assassin seems kind of odly timed, and not quite unexpected. Possible I suppose but seems to be more of a stretch.
You seem to forget this scene from Patch 2.2's story quest.
http://www.residententertainment.com...atch2.2_02.png
A) Because the Dark Knight T-Shirt was hinting at the film title which turned out to be the job. The London Fan Fest T-shirt was the logo for the film "The Man with the golden gun" but that seems to be ignored by going with just for the literal 007 reference instead.
B)No because batman doesn't really lead to Dark Knight without at actual reference of a particular era with in the batman franchise. Bat man clue could easily lead to Cape Crusader. Not really going get Dark Knight from that. Hell I'm pretty sure somewhere in batman franchise there is a samurai batman.
C) Or he could of meant it play more a support type role than a traditional DPS. Or that it won't be the musketeer which everyone been expecting since 1.0. It could be read a dozen different ways if you so wish to read it.
I'm not ignoring any points. I'm pointing out its speculation & that it could easily NOT be agent class. Till december we will not know either way. I rather wait till actual confirmation of facts before convincing myself it certainly going be something because it happens to the popular idea amongst some players at present based on a very vague clue.
Yes I'm pretty sure there a few who would see Agent to be a stretch as well. Since the job belonged to one character in one game within the FF franchise.
That lala's just a Yellow Jacket they use guns and axes, ya know, like pretty much all of Limsa's forces.
Admiral Merlwyb though, is the best. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvXSHLPB1aM
What!? 1.0 Musketeer Confirmed!!!111!!
Well, personally, I don't dive into speculation all that much as speculation aren't facts and just plainly a guess, nothing more. All I said in the OP is that they seem to be teasing the gun class ( and they are release a gun class, so that is fact). However I didn't dive into specifics like you are in your speculation as to why you think the gun class will a healer. I leave all that to facts when it's becomes official.
I hope you can respectfully understand my stance so we don't have to continue this discussion.
Didn't Yoshi release a while ago the information that we would be getting 2 jobs, 1 tank and 1 healer in expansion? If that's the case then DRK-tank and GUN-heal would have to be the case.
You know...I can guarantee Captain Madison isn't healing you when he unleashes his barrage.
You're REALLY stretching there. Batman himself IS the dark knight. That film is just many in which the Dark Knight appears. Batman himself is the reference. Not that specific movie. Come on man. If I went up to someone's and asked them "Who's the Dark Knight" you aren't going to get an answer like "well that depends. Are we talking the 1940's or the 1990's? Cause we might have different answers." No, they'll just say batman because he's colloquially known as the Dark Knight. You're really pushing past the point of reasonable here just to try and prove me wrong on some technicality that almost no one would possibly know?. Aren't you taking things a bit too far and extremely literally when we are in the context of hints that have loose connections to begin with?
Kettle, pot, black springs to mind on your stretching point now.
Yoshi P specifically stated he like the Christopher Nolan batman (coupled with the T-shirt) to get to the Dark Knight. Just like he specifically stated a particular james bond film, which gets ignored and people focus on James bond aspect of the clue instead. Leading to the speculation of agent.
We must be of different era's because I certainly didn't grow up with knowing him colloquially as the Dark Knight. Since his main nickname has been for decades the Cape Crusader.
I'm 30 and in addition to Cape Crusader I've always known him as the Dark Knight. It is in no way stretching it to see Dark Knight specifically as batman and a direct reference in and of itself.
In a short time we will know for sure.
*edit*
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Knight_(nickname)
Looks like Dark Knight was in use as a title for a mini series in 1986. Meaning it existed for some time prior to that. Meaning almost my entire life at a minimum and probably longer. It has been like this for a very long time now. My connection as far as I'm concerned is legitimate. I'm too young when I'm already 30 years old is not a valid argument when talking about pop culture references.
I won't either since I don't intend to play it, but to ignore all the existing clues just because speculation seems foolish. The clues presented are compelling for the agent. It may not be right but as far as educated guessess the best one we've got and all the statements and the puzzle pieces fall into place quite nicely. Above I considered that movie and suggested Gun assassin. I met you mid way with a different idea based on your assume hint. So far you haven't done anything but tear me down, but what if you are reading too much into that movie reference. Is agent so unrealistic in that situation?
I'm not ignoring the clues. I just not convinced that they are hard and fast compelling evidence for Agent. Especially since that speculation seems to be got at by only jumping on one half of the clue & completely ignoring the second half. So as far as I'm concerned the puzzle pieces doesn't neatly fit at this point as some would like it too.
Plus as I pointed out it's speculation and some of the clues can easily be read differently from how people got to Agent.
So until december. I will wait and see.
I like how you ignore all the parts of my response that are inconvenient. I was hoping you'd think outside your box for just one second and consider the other option for a moment like I did above for your side of the interpretation, but alas. You even say there are different interpretations, but you're so resistant to exploring different ones from your own.
SE teased us with Musketeer since first 2 mainstory missions in 1.0 2010

They should finally deliver it
Just because people treat speculation as what it is. Speculation. Doesn't mean they are resistant to exploring different ideas. I've already explained why I'm not as convinced as others to the idea of Agent (since those who promote that idea seem to concentrate solely on James Bond aspect and not the film title clue). Doesn't mean I've rejected it. Just means I'm not going to herald it as the only possibly option when there are other possibilities.
Until december when Yoshi P finally reveals the new class. As far as I'm concerned it could possibly be anything, even one never seen before in the FF franchise.
i was actually thinking the gun job might be puppetmaster <.<; that would be unexpected imo since they used hand-to-hand in ffxi, but guns are a suitable weapon for machinist/engineer, and automatons are indeed machines. not to mention automatons have been a part of eorzea since the launch of 1.0. seems like an easy job to implement balance-wise too. give brd a gun; take away their support and wide array of off-global-cooldown weaponskills, and add a pet to supplement the lost damage/utility. bam, gun pup. the golden gun comment could refer to the goldsmith guild, which pretty much has an automaton as a guildmaster; he bosses around the girl who is technically the guildmaster, and let's not forget there's a quest that has you going to the goldsmiths' guild for an automaton heart, showing us that they are the ones that build them.
Personally, like I have said before, teasing us something should be later reveal ( like no more than 6 months) as something official and what the class is. It's been 4 years since it was first teased ( under the direction of a different director). Not to mention we got NIN that's not even a guild in-game until 2.4. We still don't have the gun class.
I just think 1.0 teases are outdated.
Arcanist was teased in 1.0 as well. They changed it due to people wanting a pet class and what better way to implement it than reformatting something that already exists?
That Lalafell scares me.
For those saying, "every time someone uses a gun it doesn't equal a tease," you are right, but in this instance it is a tease. She pulls out the gun and, as the OP kept saying, a sparkly effect occurred on the gun, emphasizing the gun and teasing us by trying to make us say, "oooh, shiny gun, I want one!" This IS a tease.
@Tiggy I may be wrong here, you admit it's just a speculation but you are defending it as if it was a fact. I think linking it to Agent as, if not less likely than a DPS gunner.
