Could use some help getting Dualshock 4 to work on PC

Without any drivers on Windows 8.1 x64, the controller uses standard Xbox 360 controls for the most part. (The touchpad does nothing at all. L3 and R3 seem to be start and select, and share and options do first person and sheathe/unsheathe. X is jump and circle is confirm.)

I'm using a DS4 on my PC. I used only the tools provided by Scarlet.Crush and it works. Perhaps you can try removing everything and doing a fresh install with only the items from Scarlet.Crush.

As for the buttons being jumbled, there's an option to remap the buttons once you get FFXIV to recognise the controller.

Windows 8.1 comes with Xbox 360 Accessories already. Force Install isn't needed on Windows 8. If you read the op, I did exactly what you posted, but from the actual SCP Threads on PCSX2.

I don't know where WinUSB is installed when I "Replace Drivers" etc. So no, I'd have to re-install Windows completely. I now have four different controllers because my "Efforts" to get nothing working.

OP is talking about PS4 controller - not PS3 one :P

PS4 controllers have native support since Windows 7 and work also using Bluetooth so no need to connect them via USB cable or install any crappy 3rd party drivers or add on software. All you need to do after pairing the controller to your PC (or plugging it via USB if you prefer) is to edit the FFXIV.cfg file (by default located in the C:\Users\***\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn directory where *** is your conmputer login ID) and amend / replace the Alias line with:

to get correct buttons mapping (otherwise triangle, circle and X are rotated and L3 / R3 swapped with "Start" / "Select" = Share / Options). If you'd prefer to use the PS and touchpad buttons instead of "tiny" Share / Options ones replace 8 with 12 and 9 with 13 or use code bellow:

You can basically remap any button to any other, even remove some or make some "duplicated" on other etc.

After you install lastest xbox 360 drivers you install the DS4 in the sub folder and then plug your ps4 pad. After that run the other program on main folder. You are ready to try now.

Login in FFXIV, config and go to controller options and you should see that x-box pad is recognized. Do calibrate and set all keys according and you are set.

EDIT: Hmmm I will try that thing out HEC, just curious :p

The touchpad and a few of the other features will not work without using DS4tools or some other third party program to make them work. Windows will only install a default HID device driver so you only get basic functionality. If i remember correctly its the touchpad, vibration, definately audio, and the LED that does not work without software.

Edit: Are you using BT or USB?

USB. HEC's method didn't work, when I reboot FFXIV, the settings are reverted back to using Circle as confirm. Also, now my R-Stick is constantly moving the camera up and down probably because Windows calibrated the controller improperly. (I reset it to default as such, and now that works.)

Sadly can't keybind controller / gamepad keys in-game, so I guess I'll just have to live with awkward controls until I can figure out how to rebind without setting FFXIV.cfg to read only.

And I will repeat again, after that you need always to calibrate the buttons in the game. After that it will work like that forever until you change again. Oh and I was forgetting one important thing... you need to run that program always or controller wont get recognized. Maybe is that the reason you can't set your buttons.

Not running the program will cause the button mapping to revert. I know this from experience. It needs to be run before launching the game.

FF8 recognizes the buttons fine. I also had the same problem on PS4, the "Controller" tab under keybind would never accept anything unless it was keyboard presses.

Edit: When I run the tool, it still uses circle as confirm and whatnot, so it's not helping at all.

Hmm. Scarlet.Crush's items should all be in the folder you created to run the program from. As for multiple controllers, you should be able to uninstall them at Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers. That should allow you to right click on each of the controllers and "Remove Device" with administrator rights. A windows reinstall shouldn't be necessary.

That's actually working as intended, and has nothing to do with a gamepad being set up correctly or incorrectly. The keybind menu is for binding keys on the keyboard. If you want to calibrate the gamepad or change what button on your gamepad does what, you go into System Config > Gamepad tab.

Yep what he said... and you didn't listen to what i said lol. After you install the program and run it you still need to calibrate before start playing or else will have messy keybindings. You just need to do that once.

System config > gamepad tab > calibrate all your 23 buttons and then save and apply and close. Now you have your gamepad working correctly.

Tilting up does nothing. Changed it to XBOX 360 controller on the dropdown, now it's stuck on this:

Touchpad doesn't seem to work at all.

if your using ds4tools, the touchpad has to be enabled in ds4tools for that controller. the controller should be set to the xbox controller in game.

Pressing "Pad Button" does nothing even with touchpad enabled.

Sounds like the issue is going back to the mapping in the ffxiv.cfg file. ill check my settings once i get home. I use BT and USB without issues.

I can't do anything with FFXIV.cfg unless I set it to read-only, since starting up FFXIV overwrites it. I don't want to set it to read-only.
