This stuff is so disgustingly ugly it is ridiculous. While personal taste will very, I can't believe these two sets were actually signed off on.
Please redo the design for these two sets.

You might want to look at the sexy white mage robe before you bash the sexy elks
The Elk set is cute though. Why you gotta hate?
I actually love the SMN/SCH elk sets (well, maybe not the hats). I also love the WHM set. I think they're all great except maybe the WAR or DRG sets.
i thought the same when i first saw it too. over time i just got used to the hideousness, and now it looks "ok" to me, but it does remind me of something from some really bad German or Swiss Alps polka dance.

WHM pvp Robe...... I don't like the back of it.... I dont wear it in public. Theres been times when I un afk and come back to see someone standing behind me.
TBH, I don't like the look of any of the i100 PvP gear, with the only notable exception of the Lionsmane set... which, unfortunately, also happens to be the only DoW class I refuse to level (EW, MAGICK).
In fact, I'm not a fan of most of the armor designs for anything released post-2.0. Most of it is too busy, too excessive, too flashy compared to the old gear from 1.0, which looked much more grounded and realistic in comparison. I will forever be a sad panda if they never go back to some more grounded designs in the future.
the pvp Gears for SMN/SCH look nice if females wear it, but it is hideous on male characters.. especially on muscular Roe or Highlander hyur..

^ LOL
they REALLY need to make a distinction between male and female gear. SE's attempt at an androgynous look ain't workin
na i dont think he means that plain. its just that the gear they designed doesn't match well together so it looks "busy" or awkward. for instance the SCH/SMN set has triangles and polka dots. and then on top of that it mixes, satin, with leather with fur ... then to add to their "Christmasy" effect they stick a "deer" carcass on your back, and then to add to the "you're wearing roadkill" look, they included carcass legs that blow in the wind as you run.also, they didn't put not just one deer head, but TWO deer heads on your headpiece and one of them is so obnoxious it looks like they slaughtered Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer's head and glued it on there with Elmer's glue. and the book? well, it just looks like you're about to read some kids a bedtime story about Rudolph.
they can make it look fun, detailed and dramatic designs while still making it coordinated. but ya i get what you mean and i agree i like it to look "magicky" too, but i think they could have done better with their fashion designing.
I love all the sets except SMN and SCH. BLM is ight, but not bad.
Anyways, In what mind does it make sense to make such Lady Gaga-esque hats that are taller than the character wearing em. Also, the body looks like a ball gown -.- No good for male characters lol
I'll agree with the point about the hats. I honestly hate most of the headwear in the game, even the more basic "witch" style hats, that are always too big for the character wearing them.
I do also agree that the magic user sets (Swan set, and both Elk sets) look much, much better on female characters than male.
Maybe the next tier of PVP gear they bring out will be more to your guys' liking.
I'm a SCH but I woulded be a White Swan ç.ç
I main SCH and have gotten pvp rank to 40.
I refuse to buy the hideous deer-butt outfit. It is deer butts. Deer butts everywhere. On the hat. On the pants. On the dress. And to make it even more manly man they put a nice little bow on the butt of the chestpiece.
It is the worst, not to mention that the awkward angle that the deer legs hang on the dress makes it look like the entire outfit was a taxidermy gone wrong.
Idunno.
The SMN/SCH r40 sets are really pretty, imo.
I do love deer/elk/stag iconography though, so there's that.
On the other hand, I reaaaally don't like the WAR/BRD sets, which a lot of people seem to like. x_x Personal taste.
they're all bad imo, i'll just glamor over it if i have to wear it for future frontlines etc.
Completely agree, the sch whm needs to be shot, again. The pld mnk and blm are nice
I love my elk pvp gear I will admit it isn't very appealing on male characters, but with the new updates to pvp glamour one of my fellow healer friends on my server who uses a male PC just glamoured the body to one of his more masculine gears and his Toon looks great! But back to topic I happen to disagree besides it looking bad on males the gear looks great!
This and this! A million times this!
For Christ sake, the fashion statement is of carcass legs blowing in the breeze!
And the butt! I get the cage crinoline bit for women (it worked for Victorian dresses, I suppose), but on a man's outfit? It's so hilariously bad, it's coming right around the back (see what I did there?) and becoming good again (God help us). I've actually been grinding PvP levels in FL so I can wear a set (never mind that FL is fun).
I'd like to remind you and every other person in this thread, that gear attained from PvP shouldn't look "cutesy". PvP is supposed to be a place where people kill (or in this case, knock out) the other player. You're supposed to be cold and merciless towards your enemies. Gear gained from weeks of PvP should at least give off a sense of fear to your opponents; not make you laugh yourself into a coma with how ridiculously stupid the SMN and SCH sets look. I can understand how the gear may look nice to female players, but come on. It's supposed to be PvP gear, not some clown looking outfit.
While I understand that there are players who would prefer something more traditionally masculine for these classes, I also personally know people who like to dress their male characters in "cute" outfits.
That being said, ultimately, player opinion on armor sets will be hit or miss. That new set for your job might fit your tastes perfectly, or you'll hate how it looks. I can assure you that there are people that do like it, though. And if you've liked any other armor designs in the game, there's a pretty good chance you'll eventually get a set you'll like. If you haven't, well, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe the character team will eventually create something more akin to your tastes.
I love the deer sets, but I don't really like the Bearsmaw or Birdsong stuff. I've been working on the Snakestongue set, personally. :o
