Titan-egi, you were a great Ramuh tank, your deeds will not be forgotten...

While it was hilarious to see you finally useful little potato, I'm glad that you are once again useless
Rest in Peppronis ultimate potato tank
This method will not be missed. It was well deserved that this method was voided quickly.
Gear your tank with dps accessories (strength) and place bonus points in strength. And you have a full dps party once again.
I am really surprised SE can react to something so quick... *makesmethinkabout....*
This was never going to last long.
Never.
No more easymode for you, hue hue hue. (You being aimed at the people who used Titan-Egi and only Titan-Egi, also excluding any tank from their runs)
Well this sucks. Not a day after hearing about this super cool method of tanking Ramuh EX and SE hotfixes it...
RIP endgame content I could have possibly done where my usefulness would have amounted to more than just "glorified monster bait".
*returns to endless 30-45 minute DPS queue*
They might as well change Titan's description from "tank-type" to "solo-type" now. It would really be awesome if SMN could function as a main tank with Titan or even as a reliable off tank. Hopefully this will see some light when the Egi adjustments come at level cap increase.

Sorry just had to.

I tried the method, but as I mentioned in a previous thread, I won that fight in a legic way. No biggie for me. I'm glad this was adressed.
Not sure why people kept missing the point, it's not about Titan-Egi's ability to tank, Titan-Egi tanking without getting the orbs is the problem. It has nothing to do with tank-type or solo-type just because of this one fight.
Just imagine the fight doesn't require the tank to get 3 orbs to tank Shock Strike...Yep, there you go.
A world with no need for tanks would have been glorious.
:-(
I'm surprised how fast this was fixed considering T2 was never fixed, and nothing was ever done to help melee when "Ranged Only" groups were all the rage for Garuda and Ifrit - which lasted the entire patch cycle.
It was cool that titan-egi had a use, but I do ultimately think it needed this change.
It's still a tank type. Do warriors and paladins take "absurdly low damage" from ignoring 1 (obvious) mechanic? Let's not ignore the obvious.
When your queue is 30-100+ minutes, chances are you won't immediately drop out unless you know you won't get a penalty.
Does this apply to Titan egi? Or the other thing.Quote:
After the release of Patch 2.3, we have identified a number of players that have used illicit actions to complete certain content. On Jul. 14, 2014, 9 accounts that engaged in illicit activities have been given a temporary ban.
Temporary ban? Like, 24 hours? That's really going to deter people. Ban them for good. It's not like a temp ban is going to miraculously make people think "oh maybe I shouldn't cheat".
And boo on patching the pet tank. Why do you care so much that paladins and warriors don't get their feelings hurt, but when DPS are excluded because of their damage type it's "working as intended"?
1 - the number of tanks in the whole game are way too low.
2 - from said low amount of available tanks a number will not do roulettes, thus decreasing availability of tanks for low level content and new players
3 - there are so many dps around its obscene, so if something works, even partially, why temper with it?
4 - sorry about your feelings dps.
Can't say I did not see that coming, because I did. At least they basically changed an aspect of the attacks used by Ramuh over nerfing SMN, Titan-egi or both.
Probably for the people using third party programs for the hunts. I wouldn't consider people who tried the Titan Egi strategy to be engaging in malicious activity. It was an exploit, to be sure, but it was still a pretty clever strat. And tanks can still join if they have all DPS accessories and go Sword Oath or no Defiance.
Oh well, back to the intended strat. But I imagine people will still do this if the damage isn't crazy high. If not, you were a hero for a short time, Titan Egi.
No, me and my team dint get banned. No, Mrhappy dint get banned neither. Yes, this message was probably related to radar hack.
rip titan egi 2014-2014
Not even an exploit. They weren't doing anything to glitch or circumvent the rules of the game. Titan-Egi was supposed to be the "tank-type" pet after all, and thunder being weak against stone isn't anything new in the FF world. People were complaining T2 enrage method was an "exploit" too but it obviously isn't for the same reasons (not glitching the game, etc.) and SE has basically left that strategy/tactic alone.
If anything, tanking Chimera at the top of the hilltop is more of an exploit than the examples above since you could argue you are using elevation/geography to negate intended behavior of certain moves, but SE obviously doesn't have a big issue with this fight since it's easy anyway and no loot drops from it.
At least it only goes to striking tree hard and extreme. Other modes are still titan egi friendly, though they don't really "matter" right now I can still use Titan for Levi tail or moogle ex.
I figured something would be done about it, but it had a lot of harm in it due to the way the Ramuh fight works. Besides tank swapping there's not absolute need for a secondary tank and that's what Titan Egi took away. This also put SMN into a "staple" for these runs and pushing out both tanks from party finder. As a person who has both now tanked with Titan Egi and healed him, a bard is required for safe measure as a healer. Not just in Ramuh but in other things as well. Pushes in bards in a forced slot..not like things aren't already like that, just another example. On top of this, people were starting to question the summoners HP and titans HP for confirmation before going into runs. I would have some people ask what is their titans HP, if it wasn't high enough they'd find another summoner.
This all does something Yoshi is not a big fan of and that's neglecting players in an unfair way. I know there's exceptions and someone is bound to go say "You mean neglecting a job such as...", yes like that whatever your example is. But all in all they try very hard to keep things balanced. In the end it is the players fault for having this done, people found a way to do something faster and hurt other tanks / summoners from completing the content, rather than using titan to work with players to not make things go so much faster..but go a bit smoother. Working with the tanks, rather than replacing them.
This did bring to the spot light one good thing at least imo, and that's the general use of titan. Right now I got summoners using Ifrit during runs on trash and then garuda on bosses, switching things out, this left Titan all alone in any type of content. This has shown people that titan can be capable of lessening the burden on content that involves extra mobs temporarily. Which case I would be over joyed to bring out Titan egi to help hold off a mob that would normally be beating down on a tank. It's an extra HP bar to look after but as a healer healing Titan Egi during moogle EX, it was a lot less of a burden. We got something good and screwed it up, but it left us with people having an understanding of what titan egi could do WITH other tanks in various content rather than replacing.
Two things:
1. It ignored a mechanic
2. Yoshida stated since beta he will not be introducing elemental resistances in this game since it would have "made it so players would choose 1 class over another" So while yes, earth grounds electricity..ARR isn't exactly known for its elemental affinities by design. When people brought this up most of the people who only played FFXIV or other MMOs with no resistances were in full agreement we shouldn't have an elemental wheel. (or hexagon..)
This is called "line of sight", the game is actually designed to allow certain attacks be blocked by line of sight. For example Soulflayer's "Mind Melt" can be blocked by going behind a pillar - that's intended design. The terrain elevation is technically a line of sight since you are below it's line of sight. Ignoring a tank swap mechanic is more of an "exploit" than line of sight. (It wasn't an exploit but it clearly wasn't intended or they would have allowed PLD/WAR to ignore it as well.)Quote:
If anything, tanking Chimera at the top of the hilltop is more of an exploit
So much for other Egi's being useful.
exclude tanks.....lol. I'm a career tank and I participated as DPS. it was a welcomed change of pace.
Oh, I haven't even attempted REX yet. Just funny that people find a use for a summon other than Garuda and then it gets nixed
Exclude tanks? See dungeons 15-32.. Lol.. Ran them all without tanks before. Hell before the tanks get there stances my DRG and MNK can keep hate as well as a tank.
