2.2 was great for crafter. You make great stuffs and earn every gil by applying all your crafting skills on 3 star items. You had to pay attention to fight the rng and maintain a good HQ rate. The gears were great for min-maxers that need filler for second coil or w/e. Hell they even throw in like a gazillion crafting recipe for us to work out butts off. All was fun and game.
Now BAM. They want us to invest 5~10mil alone to craft augments for a set of dyeable ilvl55 AF????
Here's a short and simplified breakdown of the cost reflected on my server:
10 terminus putty = usually 30k but they are all bought out now so 80k each x10 = 800k
2 "philo"/gc seal crafted items - about 50k each to make = 100k
2 "myth" crafted item - 200k
So you're looking at ~1mil alone to get 1 piece of augment. Guess what? You need 2 pieces for the body. So better go pull out all your saved up gil and hope you can even make 2 pieces before all the mats are gone from marketboard.
Yea now I have to basically give up my animus if I want to use my myth on anything craft based.
Seriously SE You aren't screwing with crafters here. You're just encouraging more people to buy gil to get the cosmetic they want. This is starting to feel more like a free2play game that people rip their wallet up to look shiny. Shame on you Yoshida and I regret ever believing in you when you say that crafter will be relevant.

To put it short, the amount of materials needed to craft any single piece is way too much and in the long term it will dry up the server stock. Demand will always be high for these kind of things but the supply will be low since they take A LOT of myth and the current myth source right now isn't enough to allow regular players to realistically save up and buy these items.Quote:

Personally I don't like the idea of dying AF gear at all from a rp/lore standpoint. This (for its level) powerful armor passed down from generation to generation, only so the new kid on the block can paint it pink....

I think it's fair to say....90% of MMO players don't give a rats butt about "lore" or "story". lol
Most people skip quest text/cut scenes anyway....so, majority of people would want the option of customizing their character whenever and however they choose.
Myself included. Most people don't like looking like everyone else. So, screw the lore. lol I want to be unique! Or at least have the option to be (Which is why we have the Glamour system) ;P
With that said....I kinda see WHY they made it this difficult for us to dye these items....they wanted to make the lore-hungry people feel better (since it's grindy) but also still give us vanity people the option at least.
Yes, I am being shady towards lore people. lol

Gil has been a joke in this game so far, nothing of lasting value to buy off the market boards so if you don't have a stockpile of gil laying around it means you've just been lazy. I've got a a good chunk of gil sitting around just thanks to sending my retainers out on a daily basis.
This game NEEDS items that people will spend gil on. Other than housing what good is gil in this game? -

Is it safe to go out on a limb here and say the MBs are player-run? Maybe the foreign servers sell all their items at NPC value? I don't know. Maybe SE INTENDED for the items to be sold at NPC value and bases their prices off of that (though more likely it's based off the Japanese economy, however it's fairing right now). Maybe SE intended for the players to obtain all the mats themselves primarily rather than buy them, as crazy as that sounds.
It reflects poorly on us and makes these english forums look greedy, in my opinion. I'm not saying everything should be sold at NPC sell value necessarily, but they need to take into account EVERY region and EVERY server that ARR was released in and come to a compromise, not only based on what we see on our market boards. Because our view on economy COULD BE totally skewed to someone else. In a capitalist nation, helping others by posting lower prices is simply absurd.
In a player-run economy, though, we have no one to blame but ourselves. -

These recipes are an insult to a crafters intelligence. It's not worth the cost just to dye some old level 55 gear. Maybe if it was for a genuine 'upgrade' it would be considered beneficial, but as it stands you might as well eat your money for all the good it will do in the long run.
The issue is that many of the items needed to craft 3-star recipes are REALLY hard to come by in the first place. Cashmere, for example, costs 500 tomes for a SINGLE piece. It's literally more expensive to upgrade your ilvl 55 body piece than it is to simply buy the i90 relic robe!Quote:

The problem really is that SE totally has no concept of priority. They made dying AFs this huge, costly thing as content for crafters even though it is completely unrelated to actual progression in the game. Yet again, they're showing that they don't like crafting. Sure, they added some higher ilvl stuff for crafters here and there, but crafters should instead have huge, costly things that advance story progression, and the AF stuff should be easy and inexpensive. It's the same concept as the Spring Dress/Sailor Uniform; crafting on the high end is pretty much useless.
