Brand New Primals

We know we'll keep getting the old Shiva, Alexander, and etc.
What about new primals?

I'd love to see some of the mobs get a new primal. My number 1 being a Goobbue primal. or Cactuars!

And of course that would be great for Summoners :D

What mob family do you want to see get a primal?

After Shiva. I hope they stop with the primals. Its getting old.
Next step after that should be open world primal fights.

Definitely want more open world stuff.

Some open world primals would be nice, but there are some conditions;

1. Rewards work like odin/behe. No rng, no claim camping.
2. Rewards are usefull in combat(preferably horizontal progression items, so it doesnt get outdated with new patch), not vanity crap like the odin/behe items

I could see Cactuar as a Fate Primal fight, How many players would you need to spread the damage from a 1,000,000 needle attack?

Well, assuming an average of 4000 HP per player... about 300. I don't think even Odin attracts that kind of crowd.

The entire Open World Primal system that Yoshi proposed awhile back just seems like a massive disappointment (or hot mess) waiting to happen. The way it was originally discussed Free Companies will fight primals in FATEs most likely (Already sounding bad), and then obtain the right to summon them provided they contributed the most to the victory (So like obtaining Gold in Odin/Behemoth).

So basically it will likely end up being the same handful of Free Companies monopolizing the entire system and the remainder of the groups will never get to experience it. It'll be like FF XI Notorious Monster Camping - Redux if the reward/benefit for being able to summon them is -really- an exclusive right and carries significant benefit.

This is assuming that the reward or "outcome" of being able to summon them is even worth it, which is not a guarantee.

On-Topic I don't see things like King/Jumbo Cactuar and such (Lesser Summons from past games) becoming Primals - King Tonberry, Siren, and Diabolos are good examples of monsters that had Primal "potential" but were instead used as dungeon bosses. I'd prefer they just keep the primals as a small-ish group, maybe one or two more after Shiva tops and then move into a different phase of the story's arc.

I agree in a sense with you but I actually like primal fights and would welcome more of em as long as they don't make them REALLY difficult or annoying to beat.

I want them to continue primal fights but to also explore other things like open world, event, and quest requirement primal-like fights. An example of a requirement primal/boss fight would be that the server collectively needs to deposit (X amount of mob loot in a container to make this particular primal/boss to appear). Community involvement needs to be a way forth for the game.

The problem is that the current implementation of FATEs (Or rather the current design process that goes into them) is that the complexity of the encounter can't be too high due to the number of participants being included. Even Behemoth and Odin are glorified spank and tanks - even in comparison to fights like Garuda or Titan Normal. Their number outputs are high (Damage, HP, etc.) but the actual intensity of the fights from a mechanical standpoint is quite low.

We could have Open World Primals and Raid Primals. . . would be nice to fight them in different places and evironments. . .

What about your title actually? Like a brand-new Primal which does never exist in any other FF-Title and also does not relate to any of the existing Mobs? Most Primals had their first appearance at one point in a certain title.. why not make FFXIV the first Game for a Brand New Primal?

SE/or someone in this Forum could make a Thread and gather Idea's for that kind of new Primal.

That would be interesting. There are plenty of mythos that haven't been touched yet.

I'm still partial to making Seraph a primal.

The entire FATE system has potential, but virtually none of it has been tapped.

Here is what needs to happen to make FATEs more interesting/useful.

NM (Notorious Monster) FATES

• Random spawn across multiple maps (like Odin)
• Significant random window for spawning
• Does not show up on any maps until first engaged.
• Every NM should drop currency (100%), thematic standard crafting materials (~30%) and special/unique crafting items that can be used to create thematic gear (15%, max 1), and ultra rare novelty item: minion/furniture/lvl1gear/mount/etc. (.05%)
• Drop % modified by the following factors: first to engage, battle rank, same level as mob, etc.

The problem is that if the rewards are good they will be camped/monopolized (And thus people will complain that the content is not accessible enough) and if the rewards are not good then nobody will use the content and it will be wasted. It's a lose/lose and probably the reason why they have not tried to address the problem with FATEs despite everyone telling them that they're problematic.

Point taken.

I should state that improving the relevancy of FATES needs to be tied to an abandonment of the vertical ilvl growth.

FATES need to drop items that are alternatives to other gear. Right now, with ilvl, we are left with vanilla items that are strictly better or worse..

If FATES drop high ilvl gear, they will be overcamped until such a time when the next ilvl tier is reached, after which they will be completely ignored.


So yeah, FATES will suck as long as we have iLvl.

Their are still a few I'd love to see in game, fenrir, ixion, magus sisters, anima, yojimbo tho not sure how Jim would work due to being too similar to Odin.
Knights of the round, can just picture the chaos.
Though I would also love to see new threats emerge, as suggested cactaur king, could be an off shoot of the zombies are people too quest, where they all ran off and combined to make the king.
A mega tonberry , pheonix, Doomtrain, the list is endless and someone posted before on forums about an amazing way to bring Doomtrain into XIV, wish it could find that post..

If you had asked me pre dia if they would make the same mistake they did with siren, I would of said no.. But now, not so sure anymore.

I'd have liked them to have released another open world Primal in the style of Odin/Behemoth. I have to say I was quite surprised, and disappointed, that they have no plans to add anymore.

Alexander obviously needs to make an appearance. He'd make an excellent Primal for Ishgard; the enemy of Bahamut, Holy-elemental, and being very over-zealous are all traits he's been known to have, which match Ishgard perfectly. Alternatively (or maybe in addition), he could be an artificial Primal created by the Allag as a countermeasure to Bahamut. He might well have been named for their first king, Xande: Allag-Xande, transliterated as Alexander by Ishgard. He could show up in the main scenario or be connected to CT, or even the Coil.

As for open world Primals, there should be equivalents to Odin for Thanalan and La Noscea; I'm thinking Phoenix and Syldra, respectively. Fenrir could also show up somewhere.

Finally, considering the existing presence of Zodiark and Belias, I'm pretty sure that there's something in the works involving the Lucavi of Ivalice.

Although I agree Ishgard is most likely, when you put it like that it makes me think Alexander could be the next big superboss once Bahamut is defeated. The new Coil, or whatever the new name will be, could be centred around him/it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Alexander is construed similar to his appearance in FF XI - man-made colossus (Either Ishgard, Allag or a combination of the two) but serving as the vessel to the actual primal who otherwise has no form.

They've already shown the technology to capture primals exists through Ultima Weapon, Alexander would just be taking that a step further.

Fenrir and Typhoon will definitely come, though I don't know if it will be after Shiva. My guess is that we may see Zodiark and his summoning may be involved with the expansion coming in (supposedly) 2.6 or 2.7. SE said early 2015, but plans may have changed.

I think a fun way to make open world primals work is that they can be linkshell related (you get more people engaged and more boss mechanics to deal with).

For example
Uldah npc asks you to donate 1000 cactuar materials to create crystals to spawn the cactuar primal.

This is similar to a HUNT (new system they're adding) so they can just add open world (FC/Linkshell) primals to these hunts.

I would like to see more primals added to the game but what they could do is a large 8 man dungeon that has monster and sub bosses that leads up killing the final boss being the primal and not the what we have atm with just fighting him right off the bat also with open world primal be it fate or just randomly spawning as long as they dont spawn in dumb location like odin so every player be on PC,ps4 and ps3 can see him and not the cluster fuck of spell effect we have atm

Primal: Soggy Banana
Appearance: Very, very large; very, very soggy.
Special Moves:
Rot - Makes the banana soggier, grossing out 40% of all players within 18 zones of the soggy banana.
Squishy Goop - Makes a gross squishing sound when you touch it. And ew! Its all over your hands!
Kamehameha Beam - Does 75,000,000 damage to all players logged in on all servers.

Other Notes:
- Its hit points can only be calculated by a large super-computer owned jointly by the seven richest Kings of Europe, and can only be expressed in scientific notation that involves googolplexi.
- Goes great with honey nut Cheerios.
- The brown part is still good! Eat it! We're on a budget!

I absolutely adore the Primal fights, figuring out their lore, and I'm irrevocably and totally in love with all things Summoner. So with each new primal springs eternal a new hope for a new summon for me. But I love each Primal's story either way so...

I hope we see Fenrir as a Primal (If not, SMN MOUNT!)

I hope Cait Sith and Fenrir become summonable that way eventually we can have 1 Egi per element (even though lolelementalanythinginthisgame) I just like having even balance to that sort of thing, having all 8. Water,Lightning,Earth,Wind,Ice,Fire,Light,Dark plus it'll be an even number that way too!

Any mob that has a mythological connection. All the primals shwon so far are figures from mythology.

Ifrit - Islamic lore, a group of djinn.
Titan - Greek mythology, group is gods that were overthrown and succeeded by the Olympians
Garuda - Bhuddism and Hinduism, a giant bird (or bird man)
Leviathan - the Bible, giant sea serpent
Ramuh - Hinduism, an avatar of Vishnu
Shiva - Hinduism, one of the Devas
Odin - Norse Myhtology, the all-father and top god of the Aesir
Bahamut - Arabic myth, an elephant or hippo apparently.

Note that the depictions are different compared to the source myths (Odin as a Black Knight, Bahamut as a dragon, Shiva's genderswap and Ramuh taking element s from Zeus for starters), but the point is that all the primals are based on mythological characters (or a group thereof) so basing them off mobs would be diffcult and would result in an offputting and maybe insulting experience if that aspect is eschewed.

But that's only because they've gone with the most well known Summons as Primals so far (barring maybe Garuda) not every summon in the series has had a mythological/religious link. Such as, a giant cactus...
