Playing with a friend who wanted to get back into the game.
Animus for him, 20 hours/3 days.
1 Atma for me 15 hours, 2nd one hasnt dropped 8 hours/5 days total
Thanks SE, I'm glad I payed for 3 more months. After coming to the forums and seeing the complaints and nothing has been done, I'm pretty shocked.
I wanted to grind this new relic quest alongside my friend since its the whole reason I came back, now hes onto the myth farming and I'm stuck hoping for drops that may never happen.
EDIT:Had some stuff to do mid day but managed to get 2 hours of grinding in the morning and 3 hours this evening Atma #2 dropped so there's 28 hours for 2.
Im SO glad I came back....

Welcome to the club. Most people hate the Atma grind but Yoshi won't even comment much on it being disliked or plans to change.

Unfortunately I don't have anything to suggest since the only alternate path to the upgraded relic weapon is to be one of the top players in a well organised raid group and defeat the hardest content in the game alongside those friends (raid weapon). You are blocked by availability of skilled players, or the randomness of the relic path. You can't really catch up to your friend on the relic quest without luck on your side.

The worst part is people quitting over it. Once patch 2.2 hit several of my friends and one of my static members quit the game entirely. This is about when I started getting mad about it because I really care about the game but they are refusing to change it despite players being upset.

Being "forced to get it" is not the problem. Being forced to go through the quest to get it is where people are upset. Novus is a significant upgrade for most jobs and second best in slot for all jobs. It's a big ticket item and people want it. -

There is literally nothing hard about either the animus or novus quests. They are designed this way. They can either be hard or require a grind that the devs view to be equivalent. It's second BiS, it's worth grinding for.

Just quit this game due to seriously sub par end game content. On my 3rd atma grind (I'm lucky and I average only 13 hours (ish) to get all 12) and 2nd animus grind and that's all this game has to offer.
That's why they will never nerf it, it's the only thing to do. Farming coils is ok but becomes boring after the 20th time amd there is nothing worth doing to pass the time.
FFxiv is an amazing game but once you hit 50 and the no life grinding starts it's GG. -

I no longer have too much issue with titan hm I know the mechanics and I know how to dodge but even then my most recent run was hit with a latency/lag spike which creates the ridiculous requirement of never being targeted by landslide ever to dodge it. It's a design issue. In all honesty its actually ridiculous that titan is still the most intense fight even though it isn't the 'hardest' content i've done turn 4 pre-2.2 like titan its a pattern and can be unforgiving but still not as intense especially when compared to titan ex.Quote:
