Obviously it could be a development thing, but....
So happy about this. Great news
If its true I finally I don't have to fight another tank for a loot drop but to the dps, GL. But i think most people will go into CT trying for the oils and sands. So either way its going to suck
That would be cool. Hope they keep it! It is a step in the direction a lot of people on the forum want, not having to have 2/2/4, so 1/2/5 if true...
Does anyone have any guesses about the whole gear/tome/oil/sand?
Meaning, obviously we know the gear is 1 piece per week. They've confirmed that. But, in regard to the tomestone/oil/sand, is that something you will need/greed or is it something randomly distributed to a player. Furthermore, if you need a sand of time, does that disqualify you from an actual piece of gear?
Again, no one knows at this point, but any educated guesses?
I really hope that is final, And not just something they have thrown together for the Dev Team. Means it should help with Queue times ^^ at least for CT.
They said they wouldn't add all three at the start, So I wonder if like the first few weeks we'll only be able to obtain Gear. Then every few patches they add one. But I really hope sands are in from the get go. But for what you asked I'm sure that it will be either a piece of gear or an upgrade item once a week.
Based on various sources (translations from non-official sources) combined with the Q/A thread, UAT, oil and sand will eventually drop from Syrcus Tower at 30% drop rate.
And oil/sand will NOT be in there from 2.3, but will gradually be added over time... Chances are UAT will be there from start sharing loot lockout with the gear that drops in there.
That would allow people to get the Weathered weapons.
My guess is that oil will be next (for accessory upgrades) in 2.35 and sand in 2.38.
My guess is also that it will be an extra chest at the last boss that is shared over the full alliance.
I guess that would be pretty cool if they did that. I know some of the soldiery weapons seem great, others seem pretty horrid (scholar Book of Diamonds, I'm looking at you). That would definitely help people like me (who love playing different jobs) from having to Atma/Animus/Novus every single weapon. Once or twice, I can do, but 5 times, no thank you. =)
If its a loot drop then that sucks. If its a rare singular drop (limited to 1 per reset) then that would be awesome. It would give those of us who are attempting Coil2 a better chance at clearing it and those who have yet to attempt it a chance to try it. Assuming it doesn't count towards your weekly lockout.
Also I really hope CT2 counts towards that Tank mount achievement. I really want it but not so bad that I would spam t4 200 times per tank.
That just might work out well. Get a few more DPS out of the line at a time, don't need to wait on so many tanks, mechanics won't need to find a place for all those tanks. I'm intrigued.
Should definitely help keep the DPS whining down :)
This was always needed to correct the ratio of dps players and tank/healers. Sadly making the parties easier to form, will not mean better loot distribution for dps unless the drops are personal.
So more space for DPS classes.
That good.
Though tanks benefit more from this with no loot comeptition but their roles will be more pressured in return.
One less tank, one less bad attitude =)
It will probably be:
Caster
Bard
Goon
Monk
Tank
Healer
sets for DPS just like CT1.
If the party have a good DPS distribution, you'd at worst have to fight over loot with one other person.
I think the chances of more specific gear (like different for smn and blm, war and pld, sch and whm) are slim to nonexisting.
Nice catch, thanks OP.
Going to be a pain to get the item if they go that route.
Not only 30% drop rate, possibly shared between the three items so the real drop rate for sands may become like 10%, but then also have to fight 23 others for it.
1/24 on winning drop, 3/10 for one of the three to drop, 1/3 for the right one to drop... 1/240 on winning the right drop... Not odds I favor... So I hope it's not like that...
Great news!
I really hope this stays, I love this idea.
Way better for 24-man content. You really don't need 6 tanks, it diminishes the encounters.
I hope not it would just make queues longer for tanks.
I'm happy to hear this because in the current CT half the tanks spend their time not tanking and DPSing instead or picking their noses instead of tanking.
This way the tanks who come in will have to actually do their job.
But yes this will suck for tanks as a que but well you guys have insta-ques in everything else :P
I guess I'm not quite seeing how this is going to make ques potentially longer for tanks. Could be just a "duh" moment for me, but wouldn't it be faster since there are way more DPS que'ing up in general, and now you'd only need a total of 3 tanks?
It's more likely that they quickly figure out the other players don't accept them spiritbonding and get kicked.
With 6 tanks, as tank you can safely enter and spiritbond KNOWING that there will be others that can do the job for you.
With 3 tanks, you don't have that luxury any more.
Thats good for the DPS.
There are less tank spots per group. So, theoretically, it's less likely that there will be a group ready and waiting for a tank to join at a particular moment in time. If queued DPS and healers still outnumber tanks by more than the given 1/2/5 ratio, then yeah, tanks will still have the shortest queues.
The queues will still be pretty fast, but they probably won't be quite as instant.
Vote kick abuse?
If a tank insists on spiritbonding rather than doing his/her role properly, and it's one tank per party, that can easily be covered under harassment, so would not be abuse at all.
If the tank can do the job properly while spiritbonding, it's not a problem, but it's more likely that he/she can't
Still curious why a few said it could lead to longer tank ques...
But I'd also imagine, to the above posters on SBing, that there will be an iLevel requirement of i80 or some such if the drops are going to be i100. I'm hoping i85, but realistically probably not above i80.
You seem to have completely missed the point.
Scenario: PLD tank gets into group, refuses to Shield Oath and have spiritbond gear equipped... Proceeds to wipe the group repeatedly because he/she is not doing his/her job properly and is completely ignoring the other players.
According to you, it's vote kick abuse if we vote kick that tank.
According to me, that's grounds for vote kick due to harassment from tank.
So, what's your solution then? If the tank isn't performing enough for them to at least progress, and they can't kick him, they have two choices as a group and alliance. Either waste the entire time wiping, or vote abandon. You consider those acceptable compared to weeding out the problem?
There is a clear difference between actually "being bad but actually trying to do the job", and "intentionally refusing to do the job".
FYI, I haven't once asked for the first case tank to be kicked, or initiated vote kick of such a player.
For the second case I have initiated vote kick once and asked for it for another. In both cases after repeated wipes with the tank refusing to listen.
